They put a sheet over him.

JP| 6.28.10 @ 8:07AM

Alan,
That was low.

Alan Brooks| 6.28.10 @ 8:53AM

Yes, and the KKK is extremely low, too. Funny if a Commie or Nazi dies, you aren't so respectful.
To Hell with them all. This is AS, not PC.

Alan Brooks| 6.28.10 @ 9:16AM

Fine. Tell me what you want to write or not write and your wishes shall be complied with, Sir.
one doesn't want to be a REBEL.

Now THAT was funny.

If only they scattered old Teddy's ashes in a river we'd be 2 for 2

Margie| 6.28.10 @ 8:40AM

Does this mean if they cremate him that when they scatter his ashes it'll be two sheets to the wind?

Alan Brooks| 6.28.10 @ 9:01AM

If only JP would understand. AS can rake Dems over the coals, but not for having joined a terrorist organization at one time??
How was Byrd's joining the KKK better than a Commie being an inactive member of the Weather Underground?

JP coward| 6.28.10 @ 9:24AM

I'm a coward, which is why I don't write my name.

Some people have a thing for "not speaking ill of the dead." It's superstition and as superstition goes it is ridiculous. I say tell the truth about the dead. Let the sheets fall where they may.

Just imagine the "kind" words that would come from Byrd's mouth concerning one of our dead. I'm not waving the white flag on this one.

Adolph Hitler made the trains run on time. Especially the Treblinka Limited.

I am sorry the man has died, but as a 4th generation West Virginian, I'm proud to say no one in my family ever voted for that old segregationist.

Alan Brooks| 6.28.10 @ 9:10AM

Get this:
when Clinton dies, anyone can get away with all the jokes they want, but I'm low for the first comment?
Geez, maybe if we stop talking & writing we wont hurt others' precious feelings.
Always be respectful...

unless it is someone else's ox being gored.

Sen Byrd just did the nation a favor.

JP noise| 6.28.10 @ 9:21AM

Ah DO declare.

This is sad. it is sad, because many of us were hoping that there would be some arrests, and when the long in the tooth fellow klansmen to "senator" byrd's conscience had gotten to them, they would sing like canaries and tell the truth about all of the murders of women, children, and republicans Byrd had a hand in. Now, we will never know-unless somewhere in his personal belongings, there is a diary of some sort in which he spilled the beans. May he rest as poorly as the families he terrorized while riding around the countryside terrorizing innocent people. And they had better not even think of putting that dastardly son of a bitch in Arlington.

Dixie Pixie| 6.28.10 @ 10:07AM

What??? the Big Byrd is DEAD.
Does that mean West Virginia has give back all the swag Senator Byrd has looted from the Federal Treasury?!?!?

Truth to Power| 6.28.10 @ 11:35AM

The Democratic Party is the party is the party of race obsession. Byrd had to join the KKK for credibility in his community and Obama had to join a racist church for credibility in his community. There is no difference. When will the Democratic Party end its love affair with race obsession?

ggoblue| 6.28.10 @ 12:27PM

too bad....

it wasnt 6 months sooner....

then my freedom wouldn't be in such danger

Bob Miller| 6.28.10 @ 12:45PM

Don't you know
About the Byrd?

Anyway, my former boss once returned from a meeting of the Battery Council International in Washington, DC. As he told it, Sen. Byrd was introduced to deliver some opening remarks, whereupon Byrd pulled out a fiddle and and sang and played "Rye Whiskey" for the confused attendees.

a sane person| 6.28.10 @ 3:15PM

well bye
