A Florida Chamber of Commerce poll released Sunday has Charlie Crist up 11 points over Marco Rubio in November's Senate race. According to the poll, the governor has 42 percent, while the former speaker of the Florida House has 31 percent, and Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek has 16 percent.

Polls have reported significant gains for Crist in the last month, although the extent of his progress varies depending on the source. Rasmussen has Crist and Rubio tied up at 37 each, with Crist closing an 8 point deficit in the last 3 weeks.

FrumForum speculates that the oil spill has hurt the Republican brand in Florida and that Democrats may opt to vote for Crist over Kendrick Meek in order to spoil a GOP victory.

I'm somewhat puzzled as to why Meek is only getting 16 percent. The congressman's fundraising numbers are comparable to Rubio's. It would seem that if the Democrats make a push for the seat after the August primary, the new votes would come out of Crist's stash, rather than Rubio's -- if one believes this poll that more than half of Crist's supporters are Democrats.

If Rubio were smart he would do these things:
Label Christ as a Democrat--show pictures of Obama--playing golf. He should list the actions that Obama has failed to accomplish and show how Jindal, A Republican has spoken out for the people.
Show the connection between BP and Obama and demonstrate how Charlie Christ is a political opportunist and does not care about anything but
his own carreer.

Yes! Show one of those pictures of Crist & Obama strolling the beach together next to the picture of an angry frustrated Gov. Jindal when he learned that Obama stopped the boats from vacuuming crude oil out of his state's oil-soaked waters.

I am a florida resident, as is my father. My father has been a life long republican (small r for a reason), who I think voted for Obama. He is also a financial advisor who likes to think of himself as a moderate, which we know what that means (rino). He was stating that if the usa doesn't cut government spending within the next three years, this country is going to go belly up. I said I totally agree with his points. I then asked him what he thought about charlie christ. He said he thought he was a common sense kind of guy. I asked him if he was voting for him. He said most likely. I asked him if he thought charlie crist would cut spending in washington. He said probably not. I said, how can you vote for someone you know won't cut spending if our country is spending itself to oblivion. He said I had a good point he had not thought about and would look into Rubio. sometimes the baby boomer generation makes no sense to me. Entitlement, entitlement, entitlement! geez!

Your dad was probably a Liberal hippy--don't blame his stupidity on the Boomer generation.

I wonder if Meeks being black could have anything to do with his only getting 15%. Who else would be voting for him among Democrats against Crist, think about it.

Crist hugged Obama, and Florida got a big stimulus check which kept a lot of Floridians employed, much to the dismay of republicans. Meeks is embroiled in scandal. Tea party darling Rubio, proclaims less taxes, smaller government, yada, yada, yada, while falling into foreclosure on his own property. Rubio’s “drill, baby, drill,” wanting to raise soc. sec. age to 70,and cut benefits, plus his credit card abuse, and being Jeb Bush puppet make him undesirable! How about kickbacks from F.I.U., Jackson hosp., and the tollway deal, where he approved money as a political legislature and got well paid off! I will vote for Crist !

Reagan said government is the problem! And lifted usary rate banks could charge. The 90's republican revolution, less government regulation! And now we have world wide wall street financial disasters. Less regulation oil spilling into the Gulf, peoples lives and businesses ruined. And interest rates on credit cards at 35% and higher, you might as well borrow from the mafia, they might break your legs, but they would heal before your credit rating! Be careful what you vote for, republicans are parroting the same montra. Rubio is talking the republican talk, but personal actions as big spender dead beat, not walking the walk! Crist is no longer a republican, not walking in lockstep with republicans, go Charlie!

truthyness| 6.21.10 @ 9:50PM

No fair, Tom, Crist's boyfriends are biased.

Hopefully that fraud Charlie Crist's campaign will soon run out of money. I can't imagine Democrap donors will make his campaign a priority over the many endangered Democrap incumbents.
