New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, at a town hall meeting yesterday:

Jim Geraghty

It would probably not be best for Chris Christie or New Jersey if he were to run for president in 2012; he’s still got a lot of work to do and a lot of promises to Garden State voters yet to be kept. But right now, the idea of Chris Christie running for president or appearing on the 2012 presidential ticket just stopped being unthinkable, crazy, and implausible.

Look at the people that stood up to aplaud this speech. If the Republican honchos can't see that Gov. Christie is playing a winning hand, then they need to be helped out of the way.

Governor Crisco needs to go on a diet and lose 60 pounds at least.

Chuck, you're a fool. Who cares what he weighs, you boob.

Get with it Don. This is the age of body beautiful including politicians. If he goes national the hefty ridicule he received last year will increase EXPONENTIALLY so lose the weight and look like a man instead of a barrage balloon.

You mark my words - in 5-10 years, everybody will be looking for a fat guy with the kind of sand Christie brings to the table to be running things.

Besides, Corzine tried to make a big deal about Christie's weight and he got his pants taken off over it. Christie owned him on that.

Norman Rockwell, where are you? This unknown cameraman was oh, so careful to focus on all the wonderful diversity in the room - the obvious Hispanics, Sikhs, African Americans, etc. - just loyal American citizens, one and all, eh? Despite the applause, I'd wager more than half of that audience are net consumers more than they are producers - and that not many of them pay federal income taxes. Decline and fall.

There are plenty of Christies out there......we just need to wake up and start voting them into political office!!!!!!

I wish we had more effective Governors like Brewer, Christie, Jindahl and Barbour.

And what a surprise - they're all Republicans!

And without a teleprompter ...
