A new NPR poll of 70 battleground districts (60 of them won by Democrats in 2008, and 10 held by Republicans) finds that despite the conventional wisdom of a broader anti-incumnbent sentiment, it's really the Democratic Party that Americans are turning against.

In districts where there is a Democratic incumbent, just 34 percent said they wanted to reelect their representatives, compared with 46 percent who said they wanted to vote for somebody else. Yet in districts where there is a Republican incumbent, the opposite is true -- 49 percent want to re-elect their representatives, compared with 37 percent who want to vote for somebody else.

While these numbers are atrocious news for Democrats (the poll also gives the GOP an 8 point edge on the generic ballot in those districts) there's also an important caveat. The poll, which was conducted by Democratic firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and Republican firm Public Opinion Strategies, surveyed 1,200 likely voters across 70 Congressional districts. Since only 10 of those were represented by Republicans, it means that they probably surveyed under 200 people in those areas -- which explains the wide 6.5 percentage point margin of error for the results in the Republican districts.

Either way, Democrats come off looking badly. But Republicans may not be quite as popular as the poll suggests.

I like this because it will be mostly free of trolls and libtards. They don't like things like numbers and facts.

Americans really are wising up, and this is good news. A total anti-incumbent sentiment (while understandable) would just be a reflexive, unthinking kind of reaction. But anti-Democrat sentiment shows people know exactly who is wrecking our country.

The GOP will screw this up.
