Life and Disasters

I’m not prepared to let the Obama administration (or the Bush administration) completely off the hook, but Yuval Levin does raise some reasonable points in this post.

Is Obama evil?

While reasonable people will agree with Mr. Levin and will rationally discuss matters. His article misses the mark in why blame is an issue. The liberal/progressive government and media will give Obama a pass and minimalize any criticism. While some elected "conservative" officials will try and speak withh the media, it will be given no press. It wasn't so much Bush's response to Katrina that should be studied, but the Democrats in Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin and Kathleen Blanco who made egregious errors in judgement and were incapable of providing a minimum amount of support for their citizens before, during and after the hurricane. They were both able, with the support of a willing media to keep blaming Bush for everything. Every elected official from the democrat party was given a microphone to freely trash the federal actions and the President, but never once even nuanced towards any responsibility to the state and local governments feckless responses.

If you need further evidence. Scooter Libby gets convicted because his memory of events was slightly different after a couple of years. Of course the testimony used against him was from memories that changed to a great degree over a couple of years. Now we have Sestak openly admitting he was bribed to drop out of the Senate race and it gets almost zero play.

W.James, The government is not professionally equipped to deal with this tradegy, and a private oil company [BP] is. The former can't even run the damned US Post Office, much less cap an oil leak one mile below the water's surface. They can however deal with possibly the oil cleanup efforts if so motivated by an allof president not-in-charge [unless of course his Chicago vacation, or a Boxer fund raiser gets in the way of same]!!!!
