Playing off the assumption that Harry Reid is going to get his
backside handed to him on a silver platter this November, The
Washington Post
devotes quite a few inches of column space to floating this
nightmarish, disturbing, odious, and cringe-inducing suggestion
for a replacement: Chuck “Chucky”
Schumer.
During his three-decade legislative career, Schumer, 59, has
developed a reputation as a razor-elbowed, shamelessly
self-serving, media-addicted political monster. He is also
arguably the single most effective lawmaker of his generation.
Now, with confidant Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.)
hanging on to his seat by a thread, the Brooklynite is nearing
the goal line of his long game. Succeeding Reid would make
Schumer the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in American
history and, more important for the uber-competitive politician,
the first among peers.
Schumer has thrust himself into the center of issues ranging from
jobs to immigration to Supreme Court hearings, but as that
momentum has carried him into a more intimate arena where
popularity matters, the grating architect of the current
Democratic majority has become noticeably more collegial. Perhaps
not coincidentally, his colleagues see him as the front-runner to
be their leader.
May God have mercy on our souls.

New York State is working to make it mandatory for all New Yorkers to donate their organs. Wait till Mr Schumer goes for all of our organs. It may become our primary export and source of revenue.
Pete| 5.20.10 @ 3:20PM
That is terrifying. If the government can lay claim to your freaking organs, what can't they do?
Nobama| 5.20.10 @ 10:33PM
Death Panels.
Tim| 5.20.10 @ 3:23PM
Hopefully Chucks will be looking at MINORITY leader.
Mike M| 5.20.10 @ 3:30PM
Schumer will die trying to make America into another New York.

New York gave up Senator Al D'Amato for this punk? Only until Eliot Spitzer "blew" it, Chuck Shumer was the next guy in line to think that he was going to be the next New Yorker to be President of the United States. I even think he may have had something to do with Spitzer's fall (IMHO), but I've got bad news for Chucky though, nobody likes him outside of the Liberal New Yorkers (and they're doomed anyway!!). So go ahead, put him front and center in the Senate, and watch his poll numbers just plummet!! Old Harry will be laughing at him within months!!

Charles Schumer is king of all gun-haters in the Senate. That is adequate reason then and there, in and of itself, to wish, work, hope, and pray for his forced retirement from politics. So is it adequate reason to consider him ignominious, worthy only of ignominy.
Nobama| 5.20.10 @ 10:34PM
Pity the schmuck who gets between Chucky and a television camera.

I curse the damn idiot Republican Party in NY. I have a relative who does volunteer work with them and they have been criminally incompetent with regard to recruiting someone to run against Schumer.
If I had the money I'd do it myself; the man's a menace who's been mocking the rule of law for years and who's first major act as a senator was to perjure himself.
The only plus to all this is that with Schumer as one of the major faces of the Democratic Party, 2012 will be a lot easier for the Republicans.

Uh Oh , Chuckie !
Steve Clemons,Washington Note :
" Senator Chuck Schumer may have just lost any shot at succeeding Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader if the Nevada Senator stumbles in the upcoming tough 2010 challenge he is facing.
Politico's Ben Smith shares word of a very harsh critique that Schumer publicly shared with a conservative Jewish show today of Obama's Middle East policy.
Schumer's screed gets to the edge of sounding as if he is more a Senator working in the Knesset than working in the United States Senate.
This is the 2nd time I know of that Schumer has publicly crossed the line when it came to zealously blaming his own government and colleagues in delicate matters of US-Israel-Palestine policy. "
