Honor in Politics?

Exhibit A: the behavior of Democrat candidate Blumenthal vs. that of Republican Congressman Souder.

Two men scandalized. The married Republican Congressman admits to an affair with a female staffer. The Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, though outed for lying about his service in Vietnam, admits to nothing.

The difference, as per usual, is that the Republican resigns while the Democrat stays on, parsing words and spinning.

If past is prologue, Blumenthal will keep fighting, until resigning moves from a matter of honor to convenience.

Blumenthal has not admitted to lies... he admitted to making "misstatements". If he can't even admit the truth about his untruths then what chance is there that he'd resign?

Souder should just become a Democrat. He could keep his job (for now) and heck, they'd probably make him the #2 Dem in the house for being the kinda slimeball they like.

I guess the author this piece never heard of Senator Ensign. Or Newt Gingrich.

Politicians get caught up in scandals. I'm deeply disappointed by and ashamed of Blumenthal's lies, distortions, and deceptions on his military record. Or veterans deserve much better.

I'm also appalled by "family values" types who wag their fingers in our faces about morality while engaging in squalid affairs of their own.

Honestly, though, you have to be a shallow ideologue to see these scandals as somehow worse on the left than on the right.

By might count, sex scandals happen about evenly -- although more of the homosexual variety on the right.

The corruption is probably about even too, especially once you get to the state level.

You guys can pretend that liberals are shameless crooks while conservatives are all long suffering martyrs -- but you'd be fools to do so, and complicit in the corruption of those you believe to be on your side.

Hey, Nate!

Take the blinders off.

The Republican did the right thing. He resigned in shame.

The Democrat is just spinning, refusing to do the honorable thing.

And you're spinning just as much as he is, therefore you're just as detestable.

Nate, the above statement applies to yourself & the rest of the loonies on the left until all of you stop going along with the state-run media & giving Leftocrats a pass when their skeletons coming crashing down out of the closet. Hypocrisy, thy name is liberal! As that great old blues song lyric goes, "Before you accuse me, take a look at yourself!" ( Elias McDaniel, aka Bo Diddley)

Kenneth --

No chance of you refuting any of my points here, is there?

Ensign is involved in a squalid sex scandal and he hasn't resigned; Newt didn't resign when his sex scandal came to light.

True, the "family values" phony is resigning, as well he should, and as far as I'm concerned, Blumenthal should drop out. But this is not exactly a problem found only on the left.

If you think it is, you're more foolish than you think I think you are.

Nate,

Newt and Ensign? I'll give you that. You also forgot Vitter, whom I have no use for.

But, what about all these:

Barney Fwank
The Swimmer Kennedy
The Swimmer jr., Patrick Kennedy
Alcee Hastings
Charlie Rangel
Gerry Studds
Rod Blagojevich
William Jefferson, democrat, Louisiana
John Murtha
Bob Torricelli
Alan Mollohan
Eric Massa
John Conyers
Cynthia McKinney
Richard M. Dailey
Richard J. Dailey
Jesse Jackson, jr.
Rahm Emmanuel
President Dither
Shrillary the Hut
Bubba the pervert

Is that enough, or do you need more?

Missy| 5.19.10 @ 1:16AM

Screeder, where are you? ...Crickets.

Shrillary the Hut--that's evil! lol

ConservativeWanderer | 5.19.10 @ 8:30AM

Fine, Nate.

I hereby call on Senator John Ensign of Nevada to resign.

Now, are you gonna do the same for Blumenthal, or are you going to demonstrate, better than I ever could, the lefty double-standard?

Nobama| 5.18.10 @ 6:40PM

What did you expect? There is no honor among thieves, and democrats are liars and thieves.
