WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Pittsburgh TV station WPGH has suspended the latest ad for Democrat Mark Critz for making false claims. The ad by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee falsely claimed that Republican Tim Burns supports a 23 percent national sales tax and wants to ship jobs overseas.

The May 18 special election to fill the seat vacated by the death of Rep. Jack Murtha is one of the most closely watched campaigns in the country.

"Mark Critz and his Pelosi-backed attack machine have been lying about Tim Burns' positions throughout this campaign," said Kent Gates, a spokesman for Burns.

The news of the Pittsburgh station's suspension of the ad broke the same day as Scott Brown's appearance here at a midday rally for Burns, which drew hundreds of supporters and regional media to the courthouse downtown.

Interested to know what people, including R.S. McCain, think of Scott Brown now that he's shown the kind of Republican he's going to be. Is it safe to say he's a RINO? Should we still feel good about his election?

Enough with the RINO nonsense! The term is seriously played-out. Scott Brown seems like a great common sense conservative. I'll take Scott Browns every day of the week!

the choice was brown or coakley......pretty easy who i would prefer

one of them would vote for reid as majority leader...and it ain't brown.

I guess we should actually be comparing him to Ted Kennedy. And Brown wins that contest hands down.

As a Massachusetts resident, I can say that Scott Brown is about as conservative as you're going to get in Massachusetts. So far, most of us are pleased with his performance.

Pat Himes| 5.14.10 @ 3:24PM

Roger that. People that expect Scott Brown to vote like Jim Demint are idiots.

Scott Brown is up again in 2012. Give the guy some breathing room. With a six year term he will be free to go right as he sees fit. Also believe it or not more and more people in Southern New England are coming to their senses. They are starting to " get it ". Their beliefs are being shattered by reality. The recent anti terror arrests will have an impact, as will declining financial fortunes. I see the evidence here in Rhode Island. The public sector unions are angering everybody to the point that Jack Reed, a real lap dog for unions and trial lawyers might have been given a run for his money by a Scott Brown type here. The times are changing. Reality is a cruel teacher that even die hard democrats can't ignore-well the sane ones at least. The nuts, many are affluent women of the Eastern Seaboard variety are terminally in fantasy land. If a sanity test for voting were given they'd flunk. A lot of the less educated, inelegant types including immigrants legal or otherwise are more apt to have common sense. These folks we gotta reach. A Latino Limbaugh maybe ?

If I'm not mistaken, the 23 percent refers to the Flat Tax.

Dusty Owen| 6.18.10 @ 6:50PM

Its the fair tax not flat tax. Read about it. It is actually pretty genius. You don't get taxed for the basic necessities of life if you are low income, Illegals have to pay taxes, and the 50% of Amercans who don't pay taxes will have to pay taxes if they want their flat screen TV's, IPods, Ect. It may be the only way to stop inflation caused by the spending of the Obama and Bush admins. The fair tax completely gets rid of the IRS by eliminating Income tax. Taxation is then voluntary. If you need to save money then don't by a new car, Stereo, or Laptop and don't pay taxes. Its a direct tax on the rich. You would think the dems would love it lol. It also incentivises responsibility by encouraging low income individuals to put basic necessities over privelages.
