Today the Massachusetts Republican Assembly blasted GOP
gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker as a “pro-choice, gun
grabbing, pro gay liberal” in a statement condemning the
Republican Governors Association ads on behalf of Baker in the
commonwealth.
“It is absolutely outrageous that the RGA would use conservative
dollars to back someone like Baker,” the statement reads.
“Barbour should take his money back to Mississippi because he
doesn’t know a thing about Massachusetts. If he did, he wouldn’t
be spending conservative donors’ money on liberals like Charlie
Baker.”
Al Gillis of the Massachusetts Republican Assembly told
TAS that Baker and his running mate Richard Tisei are
“more brazen in their contempt for social conservatives” than
Bill Weld or Paul Cellucci, neither of whom were especially
conservative on social issues themselves. He says that Baker is
running the exact opposite style of campaign than the one that
worked for Scott Brown. Gillis predicts that many “rank-and-file
Republicans” will either stay home on election day or vote for
Tim Cahill, the Democratic state treasurer turned independent
candidate for governor.
Cahill was the target of the $1 million ad campaign, even though
the incumbent governor is an unpopular liberal Democrat. This is
the first time a Republican group has waded into the
escalating war of words between conservative-leaning Cahill
supporters and Haley Barbour’s RGA.
UPDATE: I’ve been in email and telephone contact with current MRA
officers who say the Gillis press release was unauthorized. I’ll
have more to say in a separate post.
UPDATE II: Here’s that
separate post.

haley barbour's republican party is good for haley barbour. its not good for the average republican citizen. he's typical of the republican elite who run the party for their own benefit.

Just another example of out of state RINOs frustrating conservative efforts. We are having the same problem here in CA with The RNC and Sarah Palin endorsing liberal "girl power" squish Carly Fiorino where we have a solid conservative Tea Party candidate, endorsed by Jim DeMint, Chuck DeVore.
The GOP has learned absolutely nothing and is determined to go extinct.

A bunch of crap!!! You have been had. Gillis is not currently a member of the Massachusetts Republican Assembly. The Group is working for Baker, the tre conservative in the race. Cahill = liberal democrat

Baker is no conservative. Just check out the website www.liberalbaker.wordpress.com and read about his and his running mate's support for the Transgender bathroom bill which allows tranvestite men to use female restrooms and vice versa. Or how about Baker's mentor former GOP Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld who decided to endorse Obama instead or McCain in the 2008 presidential general election. Or how about how when Baker was Selectman of Swampscott he voted to raise his community's taxes via through the proposition 2 1/2 override.
Baker is as liberal as Democrat Incumbant Governor Deval Patrick.
Cahill is the only true conservative.

It is important to contiue to tell the GOP that RINOS are out ( besides look at Great Britian ) and that the Conservative and the Tea Party Movement could have the real clout needed to win in 2012 and 2012--that is of the GOP does want to win or are they WINOS ? Winning is not an option ?
JOcon307| 5.8.10 @ 10:17AM
LOL - WINOS, that's pretty good!

As the owner of the most widely read conservative blog in the State of Massachusetts. This story is laughable. Tim Cahill is not a conservative no matter what John Weaver and Jordan Gehrke tell you. He is a hack politician. Also had you called any member of the board of the Massachusetts Republican Assembly you would have found out what I did. This was an unauthorized press release by Alan Gillis.
http://www.redmassgroup.com/di.....nd-barbour
Both articles state that the Massachusetts Republican Assembly blasted Charlie Baker and Haley Barbour for supporting him. There's one problem. They did no such thing. Alan Gillis a former Chair of the organization is the one that released a press release saying negative things about both Baker and Barbour. In coversations with three members of the Massachusetts Republican Assembly board I was told that no vote was taken and no press release was authorized.
Sandi Martinez the current President of the organization told Red Mass Group that, "Alan Gillis was not authorized to issue a press release on behalf of the organization, nor is he a current board member. The Assembly has not made the statements that he ascribes to us."
Perhaps a retraction is in order?

Cahill is a socially liberal, lifelong Democrat, who was one of Deval Patrick's first state wide officeholder supporters.
He has a long history of opposing tax referenda. Cahill is a stalking horse for Deval.
