The Hill is reporting that conservative Christian leader James Dobson is switching his support from Trey Grayson to Rand Paul in the Kentucky Senate race. Why? Because he says leading Republicans lied to him about Paul's positions on the issues.

"Senior members of the GOP told me Dr. Paul is pro-choice and that he opposes many conservative perspectives, so I endorsed his opponent," Dobson said. "But now I've received further information from OB/GYNs in Kentucky whom I trust, and from interviewing the candidate himself."

This is exactly why the people are sick of Washington. Both party machines lie and smear their way into power and into keeping power.

Rand Paul will be refreshing change, providing enough people haven't been fooled into believing Grayson's nasty lies.

Alan Brooks| 5.3.10 @ 10:00PM

If Dobson likes Paul, then Paul can't be TOO bad.

Sean| 5.3.10 @ 2:01PM

This is good to hear. The RINOs and neocons will stoop to low levels to try to derail and actual conservative.

Whitney| 5.3.10 @ 2:30PM

Funny, I JUST got a fundraising email from Paul which talks about the need to convince Dobson to change his mind...now I'm wondering if it was a stunt!

Tim*| 5.3.10 @ 3:24PM

" Paul has been endorsed by Jim Bunning, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes. He also has capitalized on the political base of his father, Texas congressman Ron Paul, who made an unsuccessful bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008. "

iamse7en| 5.3.10 @ 3:51PM

Ron Paul!

Stephen| 5.3.10 @ 4:44PM

The Old Right is making a comeback. Dr. Dobson sees that the American mainstream is about freedom, constitutionality, and non-intervention; indeed, very Christian things.

Roy| 5.3.10 @ 7:11PM

Riiiiiight.

Jesus: "I ask you which of these was a neighbor to the wounded man?"
Disciples: "The priest and the Levite, for they practiced non-intervention."

Somehow that's missing from my Bible.

Not saying "non-intervention" isn't sometimes the way to go but there is nothing particularly "Christian" about it.

Quartermaster| 5.3.10 @ 7:25PM

Roy, you are talking apples and oranges. There is a very big difference between the Samaritan and a country intervening using weapons of war. Christ talked about peacemakers, and war is a horrible thing to be engaged in only when no other possibility exists.

Ryan| 5.4.10 @ 9:38AM

Jesus nor any apostle or disciple has anything on record about international relations. Sorry. Everything stated was on a personal level - extrapolating more than that stretches scripture too far.

William R| 5.3.10 @ 7:17PM

Who are these leading Republicans that told Dobson Rand Paul is pro-choice??? Twenty will get you a Hundred it has Kristol Cheney fingerprints all over it.

Estragon| 5.4.10 @ 6:29AM

The point Roy was trying to make is that people are listening to Rand Paul define himself, and not even bothering to ask the tough questions.

He made literally hundreds of speeches over the last several years against the war in Iraq and American "interventionism" generally. Now, true, most of these were at events supporting his father's Presidential campaign, BUT - he needn't have emphasized the isolationist policies, or he might have been careful to assign them to Dad - "Ron Paul believes . . ." - but he did neither: he spoke the words as if HE believed them.

But none of my fellow conservatives seem willing to press the point on foreign policy and national defense - or even ask the freakin' questions. It reminds me of the way the press gave Obama a pass.

Another Paul in Washington is not progress. Maybe Grayson isn't, either, but he'll vote right on security and defense issues, not with Durbin and Boxer.

Sean| 5.4.10 @ 9:01AM

It isn't progress for a free spending liberal like you, but for Constitutionalists, fiscal and social conservatives it is major progress.

William R| 5.4.10 @ 9:51AM

Ohhh boy, speeches against the war in Iraq. I don't see one Republican running in 2010 talking about what a great success the Iraq war is.

Yosemeti Sam| 5.4.10 @ 8:17AM

" ... The Hill is reporting that conservative Christian leader James Dobson is switching his support from Trey Grayson to Rand Paul in the Kentucky Senate race...."

Christian leader?

LOL.

There is but one Christian leader - Jesus Christ!

And HIS Biblical message is in plain sight!

AND I've not read any Biblical exhortation to
support ANY Caesar(s) in the political realm!

Ryan| 5.4.10 @ 9:41AM

Depends on what you mean by "support." If you mean "endorse," then I can get behind that. If you're dealing with a broader definition, then you have to look into what both Christ and Paul the apostle stated on the subject - which means to peacefully follow the laws of the land.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 12:09PM

I am in agreement with Estrogan and Yosemiti Sam.

Interesting how militant the Paul-bots are, yet they proclaim "peace!"

The truth is about Rand Paul is that he is a non-interventionist and alines himself with the militant Adam Kokesh who is a rabid and hateful anti-war lunatic.

Michelle Malkin (whom the Paul-bots also despise along with ones like me, and anyone else who dares to tell the truth about them) does a fine job of outing Kokesh~

And here is a good blog that also spells it out~

http://elephantsinthebluegrass.....mpany.html

Sarah are you listening? I don't care that Dobson is backing him. My allegiance is not with any man, but with the Truth.

The Paul-bots are deceitful and they appear fine but their views are NOT in America's interests. They are Libertarians non-interventionists in Republicans clothing.

William R| 5.4.10 @ 2:40PM

Malkin is a third rate NeoCon hack just like you Margie.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 3:03PM

William R. is an avowed anti-Semite and a known liar.

William R| 5.4.10 @ 3:06PM

I defy you to find one anti-semitic slur I've made here Margie. You can't.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 3:34PM

William R| 1.26.10 @ 3:26PM

"Not much of a reply I must say!

The one state solution is coming which will mean the end of Israel. Netanyahu a real visionary."

William R| 5.4.10 @ 4:30PM

That's anti-semitic? Ehud Barak Israels most decorated soldier, former Prime Minister and current Defense Minister says the same thing.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 4:33PM

Ehud Barak? You mean Bill Clinton's best buddy? Figures you'd like him.
So~ you are saying you like the idea of the statement, hmm?

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 12:10PM

Here is a video of Rand and Kokesh discussing taking over the Republican party:

http://www.riehlworldview.com/.....ement.html

You'll notice how nicely groomed the low life Kokesh is in the video, but he is a rabid anti-war anti Military creep.

Do not be deceived!

William R| 5.4.10 @ 2:42PM

Kokesh is a decorated Iraq war veteran.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 3:02PM

Truth: Kokesh was almost given a dishonorable discharge due to his behavior against the military.
From David Horowitz' blog~

William R| 5.4.10 @ 3:07PM

David Horowitz. Now there's a real credible guy.

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 8:16PM

Do you not like him because he's a jew, or because he's one of the best and most well known conservatives we have today? Or both?

Margie| 5.4.10 @ 3:28PM

Want some more information as to the truth about Rand Paul and his deceit?

In contrast to Hyper-Neocon Margie , Glenn Beck doesn't seem to have a problem with Rand Paul.
