I bet those running the ads are funded by those recieving the subsidies. Can we ban those who get government funds from lobbying the government?

Here in Wisconsin, we're Corn-A-Holed all the time.
Republican, Democrat, makes no difference--they BOTH do it to us.
Viva la Revolucion!!

Great idea!! Let's turn more corn into fuel, so we can starve more people around the world, who if we weren't using our corn to make more ethanol gas, might just like to eat that corn. And we could sell it to them too, unfortunately, for far less money than the farmers would get selling it as another form of "Green" fuel. Ahh, Screw em, it's our corn!! Grow your own corn, if you want to eat it!! We're going to drive around with our corn!!
This ethanol scam, is just another sick twisted idea, that won't solve any of our energy issues, and whose outcome, if totally disastrous, will never be acknowledged by those who inflicted it upon us and the entire world. Corn is food, not friggin' gas!!

Just 4 years ago, the ethanol producers were swimming in profits. New ethanol plants were going up everywhere. That was when gas went from $2/gallon to $4.50. Without high gas prices, and government mandates ethanol is a losing proposition. Also, what is rarely mentioned in the news is the enviormental damage ethanol causes. Whether it is the destruction of tropical rain forests, the depletion of local water reserves, or the huge amount of energy needed to produce ethanol (yes, ethanol depends upon fossil fuels in the distilling process), ethanol is a one man wrecking crew. Since gas prices collapsed in 2008, many ethanol plants have closed thier doors, and corn prices have returned to some semblance of reality.
Ethanol is a relic of the Carter years. It's been around for 35 years as a government subsidized side business. And everytime a President gets serious about shutting off those subsidies, someone like Richard Lugar or Charles Grassley comes to its rescue. Ethanol had its chance at the public trough. It's time to end put Ethanol to bed.

Environmentalists now have research papers they can quote "proving" that corn is killing us. Yes back in those halcyon days when we hunted, gathered, and huddled under rock out-cropping for our good night's sleep both we and the planet were healthier. Then the evil farmers forced us to switch to a diet of corn and we became the cancer-ridden, obese and murderous neurotics that we are today. Corn is ABSOLUTELY unsuitable as food. Etc, etc, etc. I first saw a report on this back when gas was sky high and Third Worlders were complaining about the high cost of corn. Look for some phony outfit, the NRU (nutrition research unit) at East Anglia perhaps, to become the new authority on this vital issue. World taxes to follow.
