“The left is becoming a parody of itself,” Newt Gingrich said at
a TAS newsmaker this morning. Gingrich attacked the
Obama-Pelosi government on foreign policy, spending, and
corruption grounds. He also responded to criticism from Norah
O’Donnell on MSNBC that his Obama-athlete comment at the Southern
Republican Leadership Conference was racist. Gingrich said at the
conference, “shooting three-point shots may be clever, but it
doesn’t put anybody to work. What we need is a President, not an
athlete.”
O’Donnell said on Friday, “I think it’s open to some criticism
because it suggests that the President is an athlete and some
people may suggest, you know, because all black people are good
athletes. I mean that’s what it sort of sounds like to me.”
Gingrich responded today:
“You may have seen Norah O’Donnell shocked Friday morning that
I made a joke about the president shooting a three point shot
and suggested that if he focused on being president it would be
a more productive use of his time. She immediately said that
must be a racist comment. It’s relatively hard to go from ‘we
need someone who is a good president more than we need three
point shots to [concluding that was a racist comment]. ‘That
must have been racist’ rests on the premise that nobody on the
Duke team was white.”
If my memory from the Final Four is correct, Duke usually had
around 3-4 players out of 5 on the floor of European descent.

Can't pitch, can't bowl, and was second-string in basketball. No wonder he envies Sarah Palin, a real athlete.

Anyone claiming that Obama is an 'athlete' has obviously never seen him throwing a baseball from the pitcher's mound, or observed his bowling scores and technique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that is right, the Norah O'Donnell name calling critter seems to have forgotten:
Sarah Barracuda...
I bet Sarah drained more threes from point guard than the Bamster cares to think about. Of course little ole Norah wouldn't care to think about it... she wouldn't care to think about Palin at all.
At some point the false accusations of racism, bigoted anti-Conservative Leftist clap trap, and blatant lies by the Democrat talking points machines will be more than plainly seen by the voting public.
Hopefully November 2nd the great Reawakening begins.

Number one he is as much white as he is black. Has everyone forgot his MOTHER!
So which half is Gingrich offending?
Then O'Donnell in her opinion, is saying white men cannot play basketball? That's a racist remark in itself!!

Well ya know ~Newt's one of those Neo-con, Israel Firster UnPatriotic Americans, isn't he? He probably deserves it.

If we had a president who could do anything more than playing ball, dealing drugs, and getting a bunch of inner city high school drop-outs riled up, this wouldn't be an issue.

I honestly believe she owes Newt an apology. I heard someone say yesterday that many liberals can only see the world through the prism of race and color. Their first instinct is to listen with an ear towards racist intent. This would certainly explain Nora's inappropriate reaction to Newt. Most older liberals who came of age during segregation and into the 70s are so very proud of their open mindedness towards race that they want the whole world to see how great blacks are, just like they do. With this in mind they anxiously look for examples of closed mindedness so that they can correct it. I believe that Nora was actually thrilled to discover Newts "hidden agenda" that she, in all her enlightenment, was able to point out and correct it so that the rest of us can evolve to her level of utopia. Either that or she just wanted to create (rather than report) a news story that painted a Republican in a bad light. The funny thing is is that I once watched Chris Matthews make a huge Obama/basketball reference on his show during the election. The reason I remember it is because I said at the time, "Can you imagine if a Republican said that...". I guess we don't have to imagine anymore.

C'mon folks, let's move along here. Norah, for God's sake how can you make such an egregiously
vapid comment. How can you suggest that" ...all black people are good athltetes." Have you forgotten that the black population in this country have a higher percentage of obesity and obesity related diseases than non-blacks? Is that your evidence that "...all black people are good athletes." I'm not a knee jerk supporter of Mr. Gingrich but I'm shocked that you would let yourself get pulled into this funnel cloud of what- you- think-meant -that-he-didn't-really-say. My God! It's no wonder voters, like me, are totally fed up with the political media spokespeople and their relentless sniping at one another rather than telling us something that we did not already know. Give us news ,cold, hard, incisive,never-heard-before news Nora, instead of your childish cafeteria wimpering because someone took your
dessert off your lunch tray.
