Indiana Right to Life’s political action committee will no longer
support Democratic candidates for office after the defection of
putatively pro-life Hoosier Democrats Brad Ellsworth, Joe
Donnelly, and Baron Hill on the abortion funding language in the
health care bill. Ellsworth is running for U.S. Senate this fall.
“Our leadership anguished over this decision,” notes IRTL-PAC
chairman Mike Fichter. “Had Democrats like Brad Ellsworth held
firm in opposing federal funding for abortion in the health
care bill, we likely would have rewarded such action with a
bipartisan endorsement policy. Ellsworth’s collapse under
pressure from the White House and Speaker Pelosi, as well as
the collapse of his colleagues Joe Donnelly and Baron Hill,
leaves us with no alternative. Leadership matters, and the
reality is that Democratic leaders are advancing an abortion
agenda at an alarming rate that will only be checked by a
Republican majority.”
Fichter said
the bipartisan endorsement policy could be returned if pro-life
Democrats challenge their party’s leadership and platform
language on abortion. This is a significant move for a major
pro-life group. The pro-life movement has benefited from being
bipartisan, but in recent years many pro-life Democrats have been
going the way of Harry Reid. As one blogger
put it “IRL has apparently decided that they have had just
about enough of Democrats in Congress talking one way in the
district and voting the other way in Washington.”

'Bout frickin' time!!! Don't know who said it first, but "there is no such thing as a 'pro-life Democrat'".
ggoblue| 4.9.10 @ 12:15PM
our entire electorate has apparently decided that they have had just about enough of Democrats in Congress talking one way in the district and voting the other way in Washington.
207 days to go :)

" There is no such thing as a "pro life democrat".
You are so-o-o right. Pass it on.

Fundamentally, the modern Dem party in the U.S. rests on two complementary principles: 1) government should and must ration everything; and 2) the rationing must include people, not just things--that means, most critically, babies, since they can't yet take advantage of their Second Amendment rights.
Challenge any lefty to refute the above--there is no way, factually or ideologically, that he/she either can or will do so. Just keep asking the question: what do you NOT want the government to control and ration? Or, what realm of human life, liberty and pursuit of happiness do you think should be beyond the scope and power of government? The answer in both cases: nada, zero, the null set. The only possible exceptions would fall (at least today) under the criminal legal system--there, for the left (all modern Dems), it's ok for people to have more freedom at taxpayer expense. Other than criminals--forget it.

This is not a huge issue to me though I trend pro-life but it is a serious fraction of the Dem base in conservative leaning districts and yes, it is quite obvious that there is literally no such thing as a pro-life Dem. You will find that pro-life single issue voters are close to an even split while pro-choice single issue types are nearly only Democrat. This will be a near end of "conservative" Dems, who while not numerous are in pivotal districts. This is no knockout blow but a good stiff jab into the mug of the leering skull of the Democrat party.

Right on! Democrats are the party of baby killers.
A pox on all of them.

The very fact that an anti-abortion group would support any democrat, from any state, for any reason, is deceitful to their financial supporters. No democrat, in fact, no democrat in history has ever sacrificed a vote, a re-election, a day on the golf course, to speak out against abortion. This group is not what they claim to be, if they ever supported such a man as Bart Stupak. Either that, or they were just the most gullible people on earth, for his 18 or so years of fraudulent statements.

Indiana Right to Life Will No Longer Endorse Democrats – W. James Antle, III « The Ca links to this page. Here’s an excerpt:

I'm shocked, shocked that an anti-choice organization from a conservative state would refuse to endorse Democrats.
And this is news, why?
Nobama| 4.9.10 @ 10:47PM
Choice. What a joke; the only choice you care about is killing the baby. Typical liberal liar.
suzanne Ferreira| 4.9.10 @ 10:24PM
I love to hear conservatives carry on about how they are "pro life." Sadly, the only lives they care about are fetuses and the brain dead. Real living, breathing people be damned!
Nobama| 4.9.10 @ 10:45PM
Talk about brain dead; just look in the mirror, Suzy moron. Just keep killing those helpless babies, killing is what you soulless liberals do best.
Must make you feel so proud.
Doris| 4.10.10 @ 1:10PM
You were once a fetus. What if your mother felt like you do. I am a conservative and strictly pro-life, and I care about all living. We are not brain dead. Give the little ones a chance to live. We wonder how many liberals can think it's okay to let criminals (murderers), live, but kill the innocent baby. Mostly the problem is the lack of irresponsibility of control over sex urges and lack of birth control. Killing the innocent child is not our idea of birth control. How about killing some of your urges, or at the least, using birth control to prevent conception. Did you ever think about the harm emotionally to the mother after abortion and the horrendous ways it is done? You would be arrested if you did the same thing to an animal, but it's perfectly okay to kill a human baby. Where's your brain? Talk about brain-dead!!!
Jamie| 4.10.10 @ 2:37PM
Doris, pro-aborts have brains; they just don't have a heart.
Druceymae | 4.11.10 @ 10:15PM
Suzanne, you have to be the after effect of an abortion. One way of good birth control is to keep you knees together and your panties up. If it is o.k. to kill innocent unborn babies, why not just open all of the prison cells and let all of the murderers out. One is legal and the other is illegal. I would love to see if you have brain enough to figure out which one is which.
Rich| 5.4.10 @ 2:01AM
@Suzanne, I'm sorry to hear you say that. The left proudly displays its broken moral compass when it excludes "fetuses and the brain dead" from the category of real living people.
