An inside ACORN source has just confirmed this to me: the Texas
chapter of ACORN has pretended to break off from the national
group and has incorporated itself under the name Texas Organizing
Project.
Remember: You read it here first.
The other five ACORN chapters that have dumped the ACORN brand
are Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE),
Missourians Organizing for Reform Empowerment (MORE), New York
Communities for Change, New England United for Justice
(Massachusetts) and Arkansas Community Organizations.
ACORN Housing, which operates nationwide, changed its legal
name to Affordable Housing Centers of America.
There is no word yet if ACORN Housing will continue to offer a
drop-in legal clinic for pimps and prostitutes.

ACORN's like a weed; we have to pull it out by the root or it will just keep growing back.
Sam Houston| 3.29.10 @ 8:14PM
Tell us where in Texas thier forming up Mr. Vadum and we'll pay them a friendly little "welcome to the neighborhood" type visit, complete with an escort to the closest state border. I'm sick of these thugs getting away with outright corruption and racketeering as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party.
SoCon| 3.29.10 @ 8:42PM
I love Texas!

Has anyone heard about the new embezellment scandal in ACORN? I hear it's in their housing department and being kept very hush hush.
Janis| 3.29.10 @ 10:33PM
Who would know? ACORN is just one huge scandal in and of itself!
Marc Jeric| 3.29.10 @ 10:47PM
Things are worse, much worse, than most people relize. ACORN brownshirts, now under different names, is still a system of local soviets (in Russian it means community organization) under direct command of their overall boss Abu Hussein from Kenya, our President and Community Organizer-in-Chief. They are the main reason of the housing and mortgage collapse, and also responsible for a series of vote frauds in at least 13 states.

Jeric --
You're a bigot, pure and simple. YOU are the kind of person that people are talking about when they talk about bigotry and racism.
JohnD| 3.30.10 @ 10:55AM
LR, just what do you base your charge of racism on?
Liberal Reader| 3.29.10 @ 11:21PM
I'm surprised you guys aren't doing more coverage of the LESBIAN THEMED nightclub that the RNC seems to have spent thousands of dollars on for some of its official events.
Nobama| 3.29.10 @ 11:38PM
You a lezbo, LR? Bet you got your panties in a pinch over this bogus story.
JP| 3.30.10 @ 7:31AM
LR,
Don't you recognize a political hatchet job when you see one? I am no Michael Steele fan, but to me anyway this looks like a well placed broadside issued by some people high up in the RNC who would like to see Steele gone.
Please, don't get too caught up in the nasty details. And don't get too high and mighty -remember Spitzer and McGreevy?
roy| 3.30.10 @ 10:06AM
Not to mention Ted Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, Ted Kennedy and Ted Kennedy(one per term he was elected to the Senate after drunk-driving his girlfriend into the river and leaving her to drown).
Ken (Old Texican)| 3.30.10 @ 11:03AM
Folks, I scrolled past the comments...heh I couldn't wait.
"Affordable HO-housing of America"
I hope I didn't steal someone else' joke.
Uncle curmudgeon| 3.30.10 @ 1:32PM
Here in the Old Dominion the Virginia Organizing Project refered to themselves as "community organizers" back during the Obama love-fest in '08. After the ACORN scandal broke they became "social justice activists". As soon as the Obamacare slush funds start sloppin' over the sides of the trough look for them to be "health advocates". This is change we can believe in.
After the frost, say about early November, it's a good time for makin' bacon. Sooo-wheee!

Protests inside Bank of America in St. Louis
Dozens of people took the streets of downtown St. Louis Wednesday calling for a freeze on foreclosures. Under the umbrella group MORE (Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment) protesters first rallied at City Garden.

Jonathan McFarland, 31, volunteers with MORE. Allison, 22, is a paid staffer with the title of organizer who has yet to see her first paycheck. The only other staffer is executive director Jeff Ordower, interim director of the Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition, also known as Pro-Vote. Ordower was the Midwest regional director of ACORN until December.
Allison, a native of North Carolina, was involved in environmental activism in the Appalachians during college. She moved to St. Louis to work with Greenpeace and still works for the group part-time.
Ordower said that MORE is not an off-shoot of ACORN or any other organization but is an independent, grassroots group that will focus on letting its members make the decisions. Very interesting!
Nobama| 3.30.10 @ 7:39PM
Yeah, sure Allison.
