Bibi Over Barack

After yesterday’s meetings between Binyamin Netanyahu and Barack Obama, for the first time in my life I quite literally feel more allegiance to the head of a foreign state than I do to the president of the United States. Mind you, this is personal: NOT allegiance to the foreign state, nor allegiance to its office of PM over this American government or the office of the president, but a greater personal allegiance — greater trust in, greater belief that his goals and stances are actually better for the United States itself — to the person of Netanyahu than to that of The One. Just so the left and MSM can’t go screaming like madmen, let me be even more clear: Let me change the word “allegiance” to “trusting respect,” and let me say also that this means I believe Netanyahu’s words, trust his judgment, and feel more secure in his motives, more than I believe, trust, and feel more secure with Obama. (This has nothing whatsoever with my loyalty to the United States of America, of course, which is undying. All too often, too many people conflate the man with the office of the presidency, but they are not one and the same. Obama is my president. But he is not a good one, and I do not have to respect him for me to respect the office.)

I write this not as a Jew, but as a cradle Episcopalian, or a sort of hybrid Anglo-Catholic. In short, not based on faith, but on reason. If the Jewish state can’t allow free people to build housing in Jerusalem, then the Irish state may as well not let Irish build in Dublin. And if the American administration tries to tell the Jewish state that it is wrong to merely advance by one mid-range step along a multi-step process towards permitting those buildings, then the Jewish PM has every right to tell the American administration the same thing Dick Cheney told the execrable Patrick Leahy.

Obama has opened a crack and I certainly hope it can be closed before it brings the whole thing down.

William R| 3.24.10 @ 11:40AM

Both former prime minister Ehud Olmert and current Defense Minister Ehud Barak have warned that if the two-state solution fails, then Israel can remain a Jewish-majority state only by denying voting rights to most of the Palestinians under its control. In Barak's words, Israel would become an "apartheid state."

Instead of helping Israel drive off that cliff, the Obama administration is trying to prevent that outcome. It knows that the relentless expansion of Israel's settlements makes a two-state solution impossible and that an end to building is essential. That includes East Jerusalem, whose annexation by Israel is not recognized by the United States (or anyone else).

MTB| 3.24.10 @ 4:22PM

That is complete and utter nonsense. The U.S. has no right to tell another soverign nation when and where they can build anything. Building within Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, has nothing to do with peace negotiations and, incidentally, the Palestinians have themselves rejected more overtures towards peace than the Israeli's ever have and will. Ehud Barak gave in to every Palestinian demand until they said they wanted Jerusalem. When they demanded Jerusalem, Ehud Barak said no. The Palestinians said, "No deal, then" and walked off. So, while Iran builds nukes and Al Qaeda tries to take over Saudi oil fields and preps suicide/murder bombers with butt and breast implant explosives, our president and his spineless SecState demand that Israel stop building houses, because THAT is a threat to peace.

Only a moron would quote the Washington Post here on AmSpec and think we'd be impressed.

If anything, I've dismissed your silly comment faster because of it.

A small correction:
Ehud barack actually said "yes" about the arab neighbourhoods of Jerusalem and about being open to an arrangement of joint control over the old city and Holy places.
Yasser said "no".
Less than two years ago, another Ehud, this time Olmert, said "yes" to the same things regarding Jerusalem plus Palestinian control over the Holy places with some kind of international guaranties to Jewish access to thier Holy places, plus return of 10,000 "refugees" to Israel.
Mahmud Abbas, the human dove of peace, said "no".
This draws a single logical conclusion (that is, if you're not a brainwashed neo-fasci-mao-marxist): The only settelment that will ever satisfy the Palestinian leadership consists of two elements - a. hoardes of jews swimming west in the mediterannean, b. hoardes of arabs taking their places.
So much for the imaginary "Peace Process".

William R| 3.24.10 @ 11:44AM

David Petraeus says Israels actions are putting our soldiers at risk. In classic NeoCon fashion, Hillyer is siding with Israel over the United States.

Nolann Ryann| 3.24.10 @ 12:57PM

Wrong. Patreus never even hinted at such. That was lifted and mangled by terrorist groupie Mark Perry. Of course that serves your ends so run with it even though there is no truth or even a direct quote from the CENTCOM CDR. It was gleaned from a slide presentation with the CJCS. Never stated never happened, but you're the same one that blames the Israelis for 9/11.

MTB| 3.24.10 @ 4:24PM

Anti-semite! Militant Muslims, specifically, Al Qaeda and the Taliban are the ones putting our soldiers and all other freedom-loving democracies at risk. Moron!

William R:
"In classic NeoCon fashion, Hillyer is siding with Israel over the United States."

In typical Nonnie fashion he equates the US with the Obama Administration.
The correct quote should be: "Hillyer is siding with Netanyahu over the Obama White House.
Apparently Will-I-am R is siding with Obama.
Oh, that's right, Obama sides with Hamas and Hezzbollah.
Just as the Nonnies do.
Because in order to honor the Father, of the United States, they must dishonor Israel.

William R| 3.24.10 @ 11:51AM

Much of the pressure on U.S. President Barack Obama to get tough with Israel over West Bank settlements is coming from America's top generals who have been warning for months that the United States is in danger until it brokers a Middle East peace treaty.

"There are important powerful lobbies in America … But no lobby is as important, or as powerful, as the U.S. military," wrote Middle East analyst Mark Perry in Foreign Policy.

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/Sp.....269373227/

Proud American| 3.24.10 @ 1:20PM

It never been the policy of the US that Israel couldn't build settlements in Israel, Jerusalem is part of Israel PERIOD! Let's see should I side with a democracy like Israel or terrorist like Fatah and Hamas - we know how Zero feels.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 2:43PM

So you're saying that Israel's support in forming Hamas to create chaos with the PLO was not a good idea? Or are you justifying stealing land and murdering the occupants? Just curious...

Virginia S| 3.24.10 @ 3:23PM

Jon,

Check your Middle East history, sir. Hamas is a fundamentalist, militant MUSLIM neo-socio-political movement created by Palestinian leadership to further their cause to overtake the Gaza Strip and eventually obliterate all of Israel. Before you post such drivel, get your facts straight.

Nick| 3.24.10 @ 3:31PM

Pay no attention to Jon B, folks.

He peddles lies and marxist propaganda. Oops! Redundant.

Like the lie that President Reagan gave the Soviets $425 billion.

After 3 days of trying to belittle those of us who called him out on his lie, he finally admitted his fabrication.

Although, he then claimed it was a mistake That it was actually $425 million, but he offered no source. Just his deeply flawed memories.

Missy| 3.24.10 @ 3:46PM

Oh, he's THAT Jon (straight-jacket Jon) --good memory, Nick.

He's an idiot and a liar! You slapped him silly on that thread, as I recall. haha. He must be off his meds again.

Quin| 3.24.10 @ 11:56AM

William R., do you even know what a neocon is? How can I be a neocon if I never was anything OTHER than a conservative? My heritage is Reagan-Goldwater-Madison. That's pure conservative, plain and simple. Meanwhile, I am NOT siding with Israel over the US; I am siding with Bibi over Barack. In this case, I think the former is right and the latter wrong. This is NOT like siding with Saddam Hussein over George Bush; we were at war, or in formal sanctions, against Saddam for 13 years. Israel is an ally. It is perfectly fitting to suggest that an ally -- a democratic ally, with all the legitimacy that adheres to the "consent of the governed" -- has a better sense of its own internal affairs than does this guy in the White House who spent 20 years hanging out at church with anti-Semites.

ncatty| 3.24.10 @ 12:04PM

The slightest criticsm of Israel on this site always brings a firestorm of reaction. Quin, do you have any reservations at all about our unquestioning allegiance with Israel? Israel is a sovereign state and can conduct its own policies, and defend itself as it has demonstrated. A little room between us and them might be healthy.

Ken (Old Texican)| 3.24.10 @ 12:05PM

Quin,
Sorry, heh, I just keep sounding like a groupie, but I'm with you.
Here is BiBi, with his country under existential threat of utter destruction.....standing strong.

Our President doesn't even seem to realize that our own country is under existential external threats as well.
We all know the lists of the threats, but there seems to be little leadership of the grunts fighting their guts out in the field.
God bless each one of them. Obama and congress are not.
Quin, our economy/society is so very complex,( at least for now), and interconnected. Among all the tomatoes thrown at Dubya, there can be no doubt that he did a splendid job cheering and encouraging the American people at a crucial moment. My Lord, imagine algore finding the right balance of encouragement and determination that allowed our economy to rebound. It could have become completely unwound with Presidential mis-steps during those months .
I have Dubyah's next State of The Union speech in my permanent docs.

Regardless of the spin put on Dubyah, his speech was damned near perfect in my estimate. He used the bully pulpit darned well on our behalf.

Not only that, he, (and Cheney, God bless him), slapped the bad guys back on their heels in their own back yard...and took the fight there...instead of here.
I fear that the communists, (pardon the shorthand), in the Demo party would.....almost.....
..........nah I am not going to write it. I'm not going to write about the tail wagging the dog.

ncatty| 3.24.10 @ 12:23PM

"...little leadership of the grunts in the field.." I dunno. Someone is drone missiling (sp?) the crap out of the enemy leadership in Pakistan. It isn't Bush. Every other day there is a small article in the news about another leader getting hit. There is never any confirmation that it is us, which shows admirable discipline. I am surprised that Obama's lefty associates aren't criticising him for it, or at least demanding that a Miranda warning be placed on each warhead.

Nick in Virginia| 3.24.10 @ 1:59PM

ncatty,

Where have you been? The lefties ARE criticizing 0bama for his drone-assassination policy, the "center" Democrats are bragging about it and are comparing this to drone-assassinations under Bush without realizing that this technology is head-and-shoulders beyond where it was a couple of years ago.

It is just the 0bama kool-aid drinkers like you who are making 0bama out to be a hero for this policy. Overall, I think it is a good one, but you have to admit that every terrorist leader who is assassinated is one less who can be interrogated. Since interrogation policy is what scares the daylights out of 0bama, Holder, and company, it seems to me that he is taking the EASY way out (and we are losing potentially vital information).

As I said, don't stop the UAV assassinations, but take them for what they REALLY are.

ncatty| 3.24.10 @ 2:11PM

Are you responding to me? "Obama kool-aid drinker"? Not me.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 12:06PM

Hmm, where does one start?
Israel's continual violations of International laws are the primary reason we were attacked on 9/11. Israel slapped Bush in the face, and Bush buckled. Israel sold advanced US weapons and technology to China for over a decade against their agreements with us. They also attacked the USA on purpose in 1967, and have lied since claiming it was an accident: www.gtr5.com

They slapped Obama in the face and now he's standing up to them. Thank God. Who needs a another 9/11 for allies like this?

JohnD| 3.24.10 @ 12:55PM

And the "Palestinians" lobbing missiles into Israel is legal?

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:01PM

Hamas was formed over 20 years after Israel's illegal occupation of Gaza began, and with Israel's help to create chaos with the PLO.

20 Israelis killed by Hamas rockets in 0 years is something to be concerned about, but it's not on the level of the 900 Palestinian civilians Israel has killed since the start of Cast Lead until now

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:05PM

^"...in 10 years is..."^

victor| 3.24.10 @ 8:08PM

Jon B.:
"After Israel's illegal occupation of Gaza began,"
You need to read history instead of the fringe propaganda you've been reading i.e. Stormfront.

"The Six-Day War of June 5–10, 1967 was a war between Israel and the neighboring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The Arab states of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria also contributed troops and arms.[16] At the war's end, Israel had gained control of the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights."

Israel was attacked by 3 arab and muslim countries.
Israel had jurisdiction over several territories, Gaza included.
The PLO was created in 1964; 3 years prior to the six day war.
Get your facts straight.

William R| 3.24.10 @ 12:16PM

Yes Hillyer, I know what a NeoCon is. I worked for the Reagan campaign in 1976 and was a delegate at the 1984 GOP convention in Dallas. And you sir, while not being a former Trotskyite that drifted over to the Republican party in the early 70s, you subscribe to the Neocon ideology of endless war in the Middle East. You call yourself a Reaganite then start acting like one.

" Perhaps we didn’t appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines’ safety that it should have.

In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believe the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today."

In his memoirs Ronald Reagan saying the United States should be neutral in the Middle East.

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 12:18PM

I do not worry that Quin Hillyer is in the employ of a foreign nation.

I am beginning to worry that Barack Obama is.

True, quoting a leftist rag like Newsweek doesn't do much for your cred. Clueless.

Margie| 3.24.10 @ 12:33PM

Quin,
You would have to search the archives, but a few months back William R. made a statement about Israel that revealed his sheer hatred towards her. A few of us were letting him know what a creep he was. Beware those who use the term "neo-con"~ they are usually "Paleo-conservatives" (they call themselves this). No one is a "true" conservative" to them except well, them! They despise Israel and have the same mantra. Toddard, Red Phillips, et al.
William R. is a blatant ant-Semite.

William R| 3.24.10 @ 1:35PM

Having unpacked the clip cited by Will-I-Am, it is easy to see why he takes these two yentas as authorities.
The party advocated secularism, the separation of church and state, most notably women's rights, which includes Abortion on Demand.
Easy to see why he is enamored by leftie womyn.

Citing Leftie sources and Leftie Ideologies.
Curioser and curioser!

Red Phillips | 3.24.10 @ 3:27PM

Margie, you don't have the slightest idea what a paleocon is. If so, define it. And I mean define it like a rational adult with an IQ above plant life. Not with mindless name calling.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 3:56PM

Stop whining about Margie's comment, Red--she's right. Thin-skinned and arrogant, you've slandered Conservatives numerous times with your rigid definition of Neo-Con.

"Mindless name calling?" You know a lot about that; you've infuriated me more than once with your imperious and judgmental accusations.

Nasty of you to bring up IQ, too; your conceit knows no bounds. What an unpleasant little man you are--I'd take Margie any day. At least she's not a snotty hypocrite like you.

Red Phillips | 3.24.10 @ 4:40PM

My definition of neo-con is too "rigid?" I thought the accusation in the past was that my definition of neo-con was too broad and thereby took in too much of the conservative movement that wasn't really neo-con. I know exactly what a neo-con is. It has a precise definition that includes a specific group of individuals at a specific point in time, and a more broad definition that includes those who partially or fully accept the philosophy propounded by the originals. I am suggesting that Margie has no idea what a paleoconservative. For her it is just a pejorative she picked up along the way. I am more than willing for her to prove me wrong.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 4:55PM

You're a supercilious snot, Red. You've insulted us many times over the last year--needlessly. Didn't your mother teach you that honey wins more converts than vinegar?

Why insult Margie's intelligence? It's a perfect example of your boorishness, and one of the reasons I've grown to dislike you.

You may be intelligent, but people-smart you're not. You drive people away unnecessarily.
Issues?

and mentioning IQ was just another example of your intolerance of differing views.

Red Phillips | 3.24.10 @ 5:10PM

The reference to IQ was not intended to be a direct assault on Margie's intelligence. I think the phrase "IQ above plant life" is pretty commonly used. But if it was taken that way, then I'm sorry. That was not my intent. My intent was to provoke a thoughtful and reasoned answer. Not "Paleocons are really just liberals in disguise and anti-Semites." Which is the level of her normal answers. I was actually hoping she might take the time to actually look the term up. And I was really kind of hoping she would look it up on wikipedia because the last time I looked the wiki definition was actually quite fair and accurate. That may have changed given the nature of wikipedia.

Whatever paleoconservatism may be, it IS NOT disguised liberalism. It is the closest thing there is in modern America to true anti-liberalism.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 6:19PM

How can you expect a reasoned answer to an unreasonable comment? Illogical.
Rarely do ad hominem attacks result in reasoned replies.

Insult first, equivocate later; right, Red?

Red Phillips | 3.24.10 @ 7:22PM

The comment that Margie has no idea what a paleoconservative is, despite the fact that she has demonstrated that to be the case in multiple threads, is unreasonable? No. It is almost certainly true. Margie believes conservatism to be whatever the mouthpieces of movement conservatism say it is. Hence her silly little statements like "Conservatives support Israel" as if support for Israel is some sort of defining characteristic of conservatism. What I want Margie to understand is that conservatism is not a laundry list of policy positions dictated by movement conservative gurus. It is much deeper than that. One way of helping her understand this would be for her to REALLY understand what paleoconservatism is all about.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 8:10PM

Forget it, you're hopeless; a boor, too.

victor| 3.24.10 @ 8:33PM

Better Dead than Red Phillips:
"Margie, you don't have the slightest idea what a paleocon is."

Apparently neither do you. After going to the Delphic Oracle of Pauleos: Wikipedia.
Don't laugh, Toddard swears by it.
Paleo means all things to all Paleos.
There is so much division amongst you guys, that you have some nerve telling us what we are, what we believe and what we should think.
Tell you what Red,
make like an F-18 and take off.

Red Phillips | 3.24.10 @ 9:12PM

"Paleo means all things to all Paleos."

Well not really, although there are recognizable factions within paleoconservatism. What conservatism is not, as I said above, is a laundry list of policy positions dictated from on high by movement conservative gurus. Much of what masquerades as conservatism these days is really a type of liberalism (as originally understood). For example, exporting Democracy. Neoconservatism is really the glorification of “liberal democracy” (a term they freely and unashamedly use) and the disdain of history and tradition. (The Straussian influence.) I’m sorry if this upsets your tidy little world view, but it is nonetheless demonstrably true. And wishing I would go away changes nothing. Being confronted with the truth obviously makes you uncomfortable.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 10:05PM

Red, honestly, you need to get a life.
Lonely fool, your words mean nothing; all I hear from you are blah, blah, blah--I'm so smart, you're not--blah, blah, blah ad nauseam.

Red Phillips | 3.25.10 @ 9:11AM

SoCon, how 'bout you actually try to counter my arguments. That is how this debate thingy usually works. Do neocons not praise liberal democracy? Do neocons not see America as the bringer of this enlightened viewpoint to the rest of the world? (Much like the French Jacobins saw France as the spreader of enlightenment virtues.) Do Straussians not disdain history and tradition? And what, pray tell, is the least bit conservative about any of this nonsense? Facts are facts, and you covering your ears and chanting "I can't hear you" over and over doesn't change them.

SoCon| 3.25.10 @ 2:03PM

There's no point trying to debate a blowhard; I assiduously avoid noxious creatures like you.

The only reason I engaged you in the first place was to defend Margie from your ugly, ad hominem attacks.

SoCon| 3.25.10 @ 2:07PM

3..2..1-- Watch Red attack my intelligence next; that's proper 'debating' technique, don't ya know?

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 12:36PM

We have been at war with Iran since 1979. Jimmy Carter got us into it.

The intervening decades have seen incessant Iranian warfare against the U.S., particularly through its control of Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist proxies.

Iranian Quds Force operatives have been captured in Iraq (and released by Saint Barack) and Iran has been both harbor, training ground, and IED supplier to the "insurgent" forces Iran controls in Iraq.

The facts do your case great harm, William, but your fecklessness does it more.

Do you hate America so much that ANY enemy gets your loving embrace?

Will a nuclear cloud over an American city resulting from Ahmadinejad's efforts to bring the 12th imam change your mind, or would that be Bush's fault as well?

Nice to see the paleo-cons come out of the woodwork. BTW, the Palestinians and Isreal already had an agreement (that is, at least one faction -no one group speaks for them all) concerning the building of apartments. This is a manufactuted crisis - manufactured by Hillary and the President.

But as Colin Powel once said, "You break it; you own it." We shall see if the President can sleep in the bed he made.

SoCon| 3.24.10 @ 10:07PM

Yeah, but Obama is breaking our country, too, and we already do own it.

What now?

Oldefarte| 3.24.10 @ 12:40PM

Let me try and 'splain it to ya, okay? The settlement construction has nothing to do with the peace process, and is only a camoflaged attempt to obscure the truth of the issue by the Palestineans [and our administration]. It's similar to conservative arguments made against [say] healthcare, while the Democrats counter-argue by proclaiming YOU'RE A RACIST! So what is settlements are built in Israel----if a peace agreement is ever made settling designated property boundaries, and if the Palestineans then gain control over those settlements in the deal, aren't those settlement-housings beneficial to said Palestineans as being established residential structures? All this crap about settlements is just the Palestineans and our administration's attempt to defeat/beat down the Israelies over a nit-picky issue. America has historically provided support to Israel until now, and the reason why political hardball is being played with the Israelies is the same reason why political hardball is now being played with [the rich?????]taxpayers over healthcare insurance in this country [consider the president's three names and you will understand the reason why it is so]!!!!!!!!

Israel acts the spoiled child in the Middle East, in continual violation of International laws, in continual acts of declaring war on neighboring lands, our biggest welfare recipient overseas, sold advanced US technology to China in violation of their agreements with us (we had to beg them for years to stop). We were attacked on 9/11 because of Israel's crimes in the region, and yet any just and accurate criticism of Israel is called "anti-semite?" Childish, inaccurate, and the perpetuation of a lie that Israel our "ally." Allies listen and work together. Israel gives America the "finger" almost whenever they feel like it. And that started when they deliberately attacked the USS Liberty in 1967 killing 34 US Sailors and injuring 171 more.

Let's see how long Obama lasts in Jerusalem when he tells his cabinet to stop the settlements, give land back to the palestinians and the Golan back to Syria.
He wouldn't last a season, but that shouldn't mean we have to give Bibi back. Not just yet.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 12:58PM

Amadhenijad said he wanted to wipe Israel's "leadership" off the map, not Israel. Unless there is another comment I'm not aware of. Meanwhile, Israel is wiping Palestinians off the map, and barely a word of it is mentioned in the US. When Israeli was recently killed, the first since operation "Cast Lead," our media made a big deal of it. Yet nothing or next to nothing was made of the 88 Palestinians killed by Israel since "Cast Lead" in the same time frame.

88, of all numbers, the sacred neo-Nazi #, the German flak gun. Israel has become what they once feared: http://www.normanfinkelstein.c.....ber-alles/

Occam's Tool| 3.24.10 @ 1:41PM

There are dozens of other comments you're not aware of, John B you chowderheaded nazi.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:45PM

The fact is that we were attacked on 9/11 because of Israel's crimes in the region, and that the insurgency is still popular because of this. You're either for America, or you're for Israel in this case. I'm for America. You say you're not.

Virginia S| 3.24.10 @ 3:29PM

I definitely have to agree with Occam's Tool that Jon B is a chowder-head nazi. Jon -- you are most certainly an Anti-Semite. I feel sorry for you.

OC Jackson| 3.24.10 @ 3:32PM

Hey Jon B.: You've got a severe case of cranial rectitis. You must also think that Dick Cheney planned Mohammed's attacks. You also must be a global warming freak.

Israel's crimes? Trying to survive.

Nobama| 3.24.10 @ 3:35PM

Jon, you're not for America you're for hate.
Don't try to hide behind the Stars and Stripes, coward.

MTB| 3.24.10 @ 4:41PM

No, Jon, we were attacked on 9/11 because we are the only thing standing between freedom and Osama Bin Laden's stated goal of world-wide fundamentlist Muslim domination. He wanted to begin in the Middle East, but we were/are in the way. He wants us out of the Middle East so he can take over Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Then he will either take over Iran or combine with them to overthrow Iraq. Next comes Syria, they either come along or they get eaten up. Then Israel. From there, he branches out in a very real quest for world dominion. The threat isn't from Israel, the threat is radical Islam.

Well, there you have it. That 1st paragraph reiterates what I have been saying to myself. America would be infinitely better off with Bibi as president than the charlatan we've got...Netanyahu is equipped with experience and common sense, Obonehead with a large leftist majority.

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 1:03PM

When will those wonderful Palestinians be returning Shalit?

The Palestinians were handed everything they'd asked for in 2000. The boy-sodomizer Arafat refused.

Hamas and Fatah continue to refuse.

As for the Nazi link, Jon, you no doubt know how closely Ahmadinejad, Arafat, and other Islamist leaders follow the teachings of their fascist masters learned during Axis occupation of the Middle East in WWII. Mein Kampf is their bible, not Bibi's.

Missy| 3.24.10 @ 4:31PM

I've read about that, Teflon--what a disgusting pervert!

Those poor little boys, the very thought sickens me.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:09PM

On that note, you're also aware of the fact that many Jewish bankers funded Hitler as well? ...that Prescott Bush had 3 businesses seized for funding the Nazi war machine? ...that GM successfully sued America for bombing their factories in Nazi Germany?

The point is that we need a standard now, not in the future. International laws to be enforced by the International community, and not allow a rogues State like Israel to provoke the kind of hatred that got us attacked on 9/11.

OC Jackson| 3.24.10 @ 3:35PM

Jon: I wouldn't want to spend time in your company, but I'd love to have someone take you through the old concentration camp at Dachau. I've been told that Auschwitz is worse, but Dachau would be a learning experience.

Maybe you'd get your heat out of your rectum.

MTB| 3.24.10 @ 4:45PM

On the one hand, you say you're for America, but now you indicate you are for an international, one world order? BS, Jon. There is no international community, and that is the very thing we're trying to keep Obama from dragging us into. Israel is a rogue state? Why aren't you talking about Hamas? Why aren't you talking about Iran and their nuke program, which they are conducting in opposition to "international law." Where were you when the Taliban was blowing up centuries old carvings of Buddah? There are many threats in the world, but Israel is not among them. Except to anti-Semites. Does that describe you, Jon? It sure seems to.

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 1:14PM

Jon, your situational ethics regarding Nazi affiliation is duly noted.

Let's take your anti-Semitic slur ---"Jewish bankers"---at face value for the moment. How do you square pre-Holocaust support of Nazi ideology with Islamist embrace of Nazi ideology TODAY?

And how about we take out the regimes which actually DID attack us on 9/11? Or do you get the vapors at the notion of attacking America's enemies as opposed to her allies?

The 9/11 attack was against international law, as is international terrorism.

Shall we ignore Iran's rogue regime because you hate Jews?

Krystal| 3.24.10 @ 1:17PM

Anti-semitism is certainly on the rise under this administration. It was eye-opening to see the protest out in LA where the left wore fake big noses and Nazi symbols, rallying against Israel. The rape and beatings of Jews in Malmo Sweden, the mass killings of Christians in Yemen and now the burning and raping of a family in Pakistan for refusing to convert to Islam, none of which is widely reported by our media, the suppression of which, I think, is to help portray Israel as the bully versus the true evil.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:20PM

Ah, so you jumped to the lie of your convenience already. Should I have said "Bankers who happened to be Jewish?" Let me remind you that it was you who referenced support of Hitler, and I followed. Sorry, not an anti semitic bone in my body. Try again when you've returned to Earth and want to debate based on facts.

BTW, Palestinians, nor Iran had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks. Should we have bombed Gary Indiana too because of the riots in LA after the Rodney King verdict?

Occam's Tool| 3.24.10 @ 1:43PM

"Not an antisemitic bone in my body, John B?" Then you're spineless, as I surmised.

Nobama| 3.24.10 @ 3:37PM

Jon's a nutjob--and a liar. Somewhere a rubber room is missing you, moron.

Wow, Jon, you might want to scroll up and see where you claimed Israelis had become Nazis....

If anti-Semitism hasn't gotten into your bones it surely has reached your major organs.

After all, you've also claimed above that ISRAEL proved the 9/11 attack on us. Rather like bombing Gary, Indiana in response to the LA riots, if Gary were a Canadian province.

The facts have done you great harm already---are you sure you want to continue to call for them?

Or did I simply miss the part where you ably responded to Arafat's rejection of the 2000 peace plan wherein he was given everything he'd sought?

Or where you explained why those lovely Palestinians continue to hold Gabril Shalit even as Israelis release Palestinian terrorists in exchange for his release?

Wonder why anyone would think you're an anti-Semite.....

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 1:38PM

BTW, what are we to make of Ahmadinejad's praise of Hitler?

Of Mein Kampf's being a bestseller in Islamist countries?

Those seriously interested in the facts will want to do some research into Sayyid Qutb, father of Islamism and founder of the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood. Lawrence Wright's "The Looming Tower"---still the best account of how 9/11 came about---has a terrific primer.

Sadly for Jon, there aren't many Jewish bankers in it....

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:42PM

I'd say that reading books doesn't compare to actual acts of war and an ethnic cleansing. Reading books-legal. Targeting and murdering innocent civilians-illegal.

But again, this is a diversion, both sides should be forced to comply with International laws. No favoritism.

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 2:21PM

Building homes in your capital isn't illegal.

And Iran targets and murders innocent civilians all the time---either directly through Quds Force and similar entities or indirectly through Hezbollah and Hamas.

Funny how that doesn't seem to bother you.

Iran is building nuclear weapons right now and is blowing up American soldiers right now.

YOU want to attack Jews.

That's all kinds of crazy, Jon.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 2:48PM

it's the Palestinian's fault the Israelis abandoned their homeland, then came back 100's of years later and started stealing it back, while punishing the Palestinians for living there?

Why are Americans soldiers in Iraq? Because Bush lied so we could grab the oil.

Why does Iran have the type of Government they have now? Because Ike overthrew a Democracy in Iran and installed a brutal dictator for control of the oil supplies.

Why is it hard for you to understand that oppressing people for their resources creates enemies? Would you cut-n-run if another country invaded America, installed a dictator who killed his own people, and stole our resources, or would you stay and fight? Not a difficult premise to understand Herr Teflon.

victor| 3.24.10 @ 8:54PM

Jon B:
"Why are Americans soldiers in Iraq? Because Bush lied so we could grab the oil."

Riddle me this JonBat,
We have 300 years worth of oil in the Rockies, i.e. Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. Why do we need to cross the pond and go halfway around the bloody globe? As rush might say, a little Limey Lingo, eh?
We have plenty, why are we paying through the nose for the Arabs Oil?
Because you tree hugging squirrel worshippers won't let us take it out of the ground, that's why!

You have no answer.

Nobama| 3.24.10 @ 10:10PM

Why does Obama keep us in Iraq, squirrely Jon?
Obama's stealing oil, too?

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:39PM

I said the Jews are acting like Nazis because they are. You referred to Iranian support of the Nazis, so I referred to others who supported the Nazis as well.

Moving right along, I'm supporting America and rightfully pointing people towards the cause of hatred against the USA: our support of Israel's crimes in the region. We have vetoed 65 UN resolutions that would've brought Israel into compliance with International Laws. We also have given Israel upwards of $300 billion + in military support. Yet in return, they sell our weapons and technology to China, and commit acts that provoked the 9/11 attacks, acts that are in violation of International laws. America first, and if you have to lie about what I think about Jewish people to make your non "point," what's that say about you?

victor| 3.24.10 @ 9:03PM

Jon B:'
"I said the Jews are acting like Nazis because they are. "

Death camps?
Lamp shades?
Dr Mengeles?

What planet are you on.
The Jews are getting bombed day and night by murderous thieving and barbaric terrorists and that does not bother you?
Yet you have to assuage your guilty conscience by making up and repeating lies about Israel?
You best repent before you stand before God.
Hebrews 9:27
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die but after this the judgment"

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 1:41PM

How many Jews should we kill in response to Iranians blowing up American troops with IEDs, Jon?

Bottom line it for me.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 1:43PM

I think you have developed a sickness over this and that your comments are out of place in order to hide your lack of close analysis.

Teflon93 | 3.24.10 @ 2:24PM

I have closely read your incoherent arguments, Jon.

You claim that Iran is attacking us because Israel is a rogue state. You blame Israel for Iran's terrorist attacks and acts of war against the U.S.

Since you do not favor fighting back against Iran, I asked the reasonable question as to how many Jews you think we ought to kill in response to Iran's attacks, since obviously killing Iranian terrorists isn't acceptable to you.

Close analysis is precisely what your ill-considered views cannot bear.

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 2:49PM

You have completely ignored what I said and repeated parrot-like platitudes. At least be honest.

Nobama| 3.24.10 @ 3:40PM

Teflon's developed a sickness over this? Pot call kettle.
You're certifiable. lol

Mark MacInnis| 3.24.10 @ 1:42PM

Smoke and mirrors.....what this is all about is Israel and the US putting some distance between each other so that WHEN, not if, the Israelis attack and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, so the US can plausibly claim that they didn't know about it before hand, and don't sanction it....not that will make one bit of difference to Adbenihandjob, or whatever his name is...the Islamist nut jobs will blame us, no matter what. Take 'em all out, I say....let Allah sort 'em out.

Virginia S| 3.24.10 @ 3:34PM

Jon B| 3.24.10 @ 2:28PM

Thanks for bringing that up. There was a series of coffees held to introduce the new Democrat candidate for the seat at the request of the retiring Democrats. Bill Ayers, an educator and Chicago's "Citizen of the Year" in 1997, signed up to hold one of the many coffees held top introduce Obama.

I guess somehow that's different than Bush being buddies with the Bin Laden's for decades, protecting the country who harbored Osama in Peace after signing a peace treaty with al Qaeda in September 2006 (Pakistan), Protecting the country that funded the 9/11 attacks, ordering the US Army to not go into T0ra Bora and get Osama when we had him trapped there in December 2001, blacking out 28 pages of the 9/11 commission's report referring to Saudi funding of the 9/11 attacks, diverting US troops and intelligence away from al Qaeda in Afghanistan to secure the oil wells in Iraq, having Osama's brother Salem Bin Laden as a business partner in Arbusto Oil, and completely ignoring over a couple dozen warnings of the coming 9/11 attacks.

John B sounds like your typical person who has not a clue about what Israel is about. No sense of history total ignorant. Israel for all its smallness have contributed disproportionately to the US for intelligence about terrorism world wide. And, it has developed proven methods to combat it. Israel is in an impossible situation and has managed to develop a very viable economy for a tiny state surrounded by enemies. The US and the West in general have a moral obligation to support Israel. WWII destroyed thru active genocidal acts a large portion of world Jewry and no one really helped save lives except for some isolated few. Those people who are insensitive to Israel's origins as a haven for Jews are ignorant of history or simply have no empathy for their situation. In any case I have no use for the point of view of those. Then there are the Jew haters in the mix. How to differentiate between the ignorant, insensitive and anti-Jewish?? Sometimes it is very hard to tell and it does not matter in the end.

Looks like I stumbled into the AIPAC convention here.

You guys throw around the antiSemite label so much I thought it meant liberal fascist for a minute.

I think we can all agree that the country that may have once been Palestine is no more & is under the total control of Israel. We can also see that their affairs are their own & therefore none of our business. Focusing ourselves on this area is not likely to be productive or in our best national interest. We have bigger problems with the imminent bankruptcy of the US federal government & the political collapse will follow.

ZerObama| 3.24.10 @ 11:24PM

You're just a fascist, Wesley--forget the liberal part.

You're also responsible for our possible collapse, too.

victor| 3.25.10 @ 12:54AM

There was never any such country called"palestine"
Originally it was the area called Philistia and what is now modern day Gaza.
Ta-Da! They are now where they should be.

Wesly Mooch:
"Focusing ourselves on this area is not likely to be productive or in our best national interest"

Only to you anti semites is any interest in Israel
"not likely to be productive".
They are our ally and you can go cozy up to Hamas.

Wesley Mouch| 3.25.10 @ 1:05AM

And now it is up to you to clearly demonstrate the benefit to us to directly insert ourselves into Israel's business.

Nobama| 3.25.10 @ 1:46AM

LOL

Don Kenner| 3.25.10 @ 1:40PM

"I think we can all agree that the country that may have once been Palestine is no more & is under the total control of Israel."

No, we can't agree because the above statement is absolutely and demonstrably false. There's never been a country called 'Palestine' and the land acquired from Jordan by Israel when Jordan joined in an unprovoked attack aimed at destroying the Jewish state is not and has never been 'Palestine.'

"We can also see that their affairs are their own & therefore none of our business."

If that is so then Obama and co. should stop telling a country the size of Lake Michigan how many apartments it can build on its own land.

"We have bigger problems..."

One of those bigger problems is Islamic Jihad. And the country isn't going bankrupt because we send a couple a billion dollars to an ally that provides us with priceless and absolutely necessary intelligence on Jon B. and William R.'s terrorist friends.

Spare us the folkly wisdom about tendin' our own Bar-B-Cue. Man up and admit your position openly. The AIPAC comment at the first gave you away.

G_d please bless PM Netanyahu and Israel, and the United States of America, in spite of its current leadership. Watching this unfold - this new "rebuke" and "humiliate" policy - is actually painful.

Israel, WE STILL LOVE AND STAND WITH YOU, in spite of this man.

I wish I could vote for Bibi myself. I would do it in a heartbeat.
