House Passes Three Week Spending Bill

Pelosi may or may not have the votes for the Senate bill, or reconciliation bill, or the deemed-passed combo. But, if she has the votes with a few vote cushion, then dropping the deemed-passed version may allow her greater flexibility. Could she then allow some vulnerable members to peel away from the Senate bill and vote for the reconciliation bill alone? Couldn't that provide Blue Dogs better cover than the deemed-passed combo, which is giving off a very bad odor now?

This bill is going to pass. The Democrats ran on it; they have the majority; they're going to pass it. It's why we have elections. No talk about "process" is going to matter a week after it's passed, certainly reconciliation won't matter -- just like it didn't matter all the times the Republicans used it.
This bill is going to regulate the insurance market more tightly. That's all. Your rates won't go up as quickly as they otherwise might have; it will be illegal for your children to be denied health care coverage because of preexisting conditions IMMEDIATELY. In 5 years it will be illegal for ANYONE to be denied coverage. This bill will cover 30 million people over 5 years; the Republicans' "bill" would have covered 3 million in 10 years.

If Demoncrats are ARROGANT enough to impose Obamacare on America --- against the will of the American people --- they will find out just how unpopular their government takeover really is. Just like when Rostenkowski was humiliated into repealing his own catastrophic healthcare "reform", intelligent Democrats will soon be embarrassed enough that they will lead the charge to repeal Obamacare. Obamacare WILL BE REPEALED. It's just a matter of time. And the Demoncrats will have condemned themselves to the minority for even proposing such a tyrannical takeover at all.

all the times republicans used it ???
name one time they used it and had less than 60 votes.
welfare reform, bushes tax cuts, and reagans tax cuts all pulled double digit democrat votes and an average of 75 senators apiece. in other words it was a time saving device and no ones rights were bypassed.
but just keep believing your own BS because november is closer every day. and this year, for the first time in my lifetime, the people are tuned into the process. they now see the slimy democrats for what they are. it will be 20 yrs before you recover from pelosi and barak hussein obama.
ram it through please.

The 2001 Bush tax cuts were passed by less than 60 votes at 58-33 and the 2003 Bush tax cuts were passed by 51-50 with Cheney the deciding vote. You are correct on the others, however. The CBO rated the Bush tax cuts as having a $1.3 trillion hit to the debt because tax cuts are not stimulative to the economy as have been proven in the past.
That aside, I would agree that this is the wrong bill at the wrong time for economic reasons. We need to cut the cost of health care in this country in order to be competitive in commerce with other countries. Unfortunately, the only way to get significant cuts is some form of rationing. I would prefer this to be self-rationing, but I doubt whether most of you would have the stomach to let Grandma die if she didn't have the money. Unfortunately, you are not fiscal conservatives if you don't agree to some form of rationing. Ryan had a good plan for rationing by holding the cost of Medicare constant which would force the issue. I do support his plan.
Perhaps, Republicans could back his bill and show their fiscal responsibility..
