Read them here. This appears to be Obama’s closing argument:

“At stake right now is not just our ability to solve this problem, but our ability to solve any problem. The American people want to know if it’s still possible for Washington to look out for their interests and their future. They are waiting for us to act. They are waiting for us to lead. And as long as I hold this office, I intend to provide that leadership. I don’t know how this plays politically, but I know it’s right. And so I ask Congress to finish its work, and I look forward to signing this reform into law.”

I’m going to wait to hear the whole speech, scheduled for 1:45, before I comment further. But I will just observe that he’s clearly appealing to moderate Democrats to cast suicide votes for the greater good. Of course, easy for him to say given that he’s doesn’t face voters himself until 2012.

As usual, stunning arrogance. Even the MSM polls say this isn't what the majority wants. But our king thinks he knows what is best for his subjects (or more accurately, doesn't care, because this isn't really about healthcare). Dangerous and insulting. Things are going to get ugly if they force this through.

Crusader| 3.3.10 @ 12:59PM

Ditto indeed. When a majority of Americans want them to scrap this and start over or do nothing at all, how can the usurper continue to say this is what "Americans want?" Mind-boggling.

Tell ya what DC, I will look out for my well-being and MY future, how's that? Is that OK? Or is that somehow too radical of an idea for America in the 21st century?

If the communists, (pardon the shorthand), crunch this through..............hundreds of thousands of medical doctors will go off the grid.

.....bet the farm on it.

Then let's see what Obamachev does.

???
Really? And your take on what preceded his closing comments?

"The American people want to know if it's still possible for Washington to look out for their interests and their future."

Gee, wonder how he knows what our interests are with his fingers in his ears going "La la la la la, I can't hear you, la la la la."

I listened to a VERY humorous piece of Glenn Beck's radio show where they made fun of the ten letters the little o reads every night.

Glenn made a statement, "I don't think we base our government policies on ten letters a night. How about we use actual research and stats?!"

When Glenn and co. are on (the 3 of them) the radio in the morning and I get to listen in, they never fail to get me smiling. And sometimes laughing out loud.
Liberals have no sense of humor what so ever and this type of "comedy" is rare, and just priceless!

It didn't take long for the video to be pulled. Gone buh bye just like all the good ones from YouTube. People you gotta learn how to grab them for keeps. Try keepvid. Obama doesn't seem concerned about jobs only health care. Now it is "real id". Sprinkle a little immigration and some spattering of green like in the jobs bills and we are golden? I refuse the "real id." Unconstitutional. Got my STATE id. That's good enough.

What a lying sack of you-know-what! As if the American people are waiting on the edge of their seats for Democrats to enact OBAMA[WELFARE]CARE, so that 30 million indigents can experience WEALTH-TRANSFERRANCE by the Liar-In-Chief and grant more governmental largesse upon his constituent-class. In my 63 years on earth, I have never before witnessed such a display of BULLEXCREMENT by anyone, let alone a PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!

ncatty| 3.3.10 @ 2:28PM

Pass something called "health reform." Pass it using a technique you abhorred just a couple of years ago. Call it "leadership." Nominate yourself for the next chapter in Profiles in Courage. Lose in 2012. Get on Mt. Rushmore anyway.

Deborah D | 3.3.10 @ 2:40PM

If this goes through, our country will be aghast. I see a scary, chaos in the near future. Anger. Anger. Anger.

ncatty| 3.3.10 @ 2:50PM

In reading the "Senate Parliamentarian" posted below, and the Time article it cites, this whole process is going to be lengthy. Republicans will have the opportunity to offer amendments by the 100s to any reconciliation bill. That will take time. The parliamentarian will also be nitpicking, and that will add delay. Meanwhile the economy stagnates. Politically it could play two ways. Obama and the other dead-enders say look at me fight for principle! And see I told you the Republicans are obstructionists. Or, the seemingly interminable "process" could backfire on the Democrats. The MSM will call it as a horse race, as usual, without examining the merits.

This pproves that Obama is just not overly intelligent. He does not know how this plays politically? Is the man brain dead? Does Emmanuel keep him in a dark room with only Saul Olinsky tapes playing when he is not repeating the same crap over and over again before the cameras? How can any political advisor not see the polls and the American peoples reaction and NOT know how this will play politically?
He KNOWS they all KNOW, they just don't care! This is the liberal "Holy Grail" the ability to control the most private aspects of YOUR life!
They don't care if the American people don't want it, they elected them, they MUST want it, they must NEED it!
And the liberals MUST do it to ALL Americans!
Even at the cost of political Hari-Kari!
I just hope Pelosi and Reids final acts are carried on C-Span!

Angela| 3.3.10 @ 6:28PM

If that was his closing statement, and it appears typical Obama, he said the word "I" six times in seven sentences.

The most significant statement to me was, "I don't know how this plays out politically, but I KNOW IT'S RIGHT."

It's right to him, therefore, it is "right" for all of us - oh yeah, with the exception that he and his crew don't have to sign up for it.

Thom| 3.3.10 @ 6:40PM

One has to wonder if the shear arrogance of the Democrat Party is beyond believing that such tactics could lead to a lot worse than losing a few political positions in Congress? I’m kind of with Ben Franklin where as trying to make gains were fighting can be avoided but this thrust is off the page in regard to what it’s impact will mean to those that get the short straw out of this and the bill for the privilege of “being serviced” of course. As I’ve often said lack of accountability in Democracies is an enduring weakness of self government and these people are banking on that from where I sit. Of course defecating on the enumerated Rights and limitations found in the Founding documents, turning over the government to lawyers over the last several decades has gone a long way in bringing us to this point. Be it Ballots or Bullets, we are on a very dangerous track here where singular events can spin out of control and lead to some pretty ugly business. I don’t have to ponder which side I’ll be on. The last time this kind of power grab was attempted it made it crystal clear where the true clear and present danger lay within this Nation. The time for unserious people to get a clue here has passed. I’ve lived my life a “free” man and I intend to die that way. This isn’t politics as usual any longer, this is a brazing power grab at the expense of the foundation of this Nation’s founding framework.

Pete| 3.3.10 @ 8:47PM

People are prepared. It wasn't random that gun & ammo sales when through the roof when this ass was elected. That gives me comfort.

Conservative| 3.3.10 @ 8:33PM

I appreciate OldeFarte's succinctness.
