Health Care and the House

A few other odds and ends over the rough prospects for getting a comprehensive health care bill passed in the House.

-- Eric Cantor's whip count finds that Democrats don't have the votes to pass a comprehensive bill.

-- Bart Stupak tells Fox that he's spoken to 15 to 20 Democrats in the last 24 hours who won't support the bill in its current form.

-- House Majority Whip James Clyburn backed off his comments that Democrats would pass the revised bill by a wider margin than the first time around.

-- And Dennis Kucinich reiterated his argument that the bill was a sell-out to insurance companies that he couldn't support.

It's hard to find myself in agreement with Dennis Kucinich. I guess the old adage, a broken clock is correct twice a day might apply.

Nonetheless, that doesn't mean all is lost now. Polling also suggests that Democrats need to pass this bill to have a fighting chance in the 2010 midterm elections:

To onitsukawhat polling. None that I have seen.

May one in Iran. No in the current climate, a health care bill that severly increases the deficit, over taxes the voters, limts health care etc will be suicide. But, the good news is that there are many Dems who want to commit suicide such as with the "nuclear option". So I say, be your guest.
