President Obama's health care proposal released today does
nothing to address the complaints that the legislation would
provide federal subsidies for abortion. The White House
effectively adopted the Senate approach, which has been rejected
by pro-life groups in favor of the more restrictive Stupak
amendment language House version.
The National Right to Life Committee argues that the Obama
proposal would actually offer more opportunities for public
funding of abortion:
Douglas Johnson, the legislative director of the National
Right to Life Committee, explains that Obama's plan would also
"subsidize private health insurance that covers abortion
(through the premium-subsidy tax credits program)."
"If all of the President's changes were made, the
resulting legislation would allow direct federal funding of
abortion on demand through Community Health Centers, would
institute federal subsidies for private health plans that cover
abortion on demand (including some federally administered
plans), and would authorize federal mandates that would require
even non-subsidized private plans to cover elective abortion,"
he tells LifeNews.com today.
Obama's refusal to address the abortion issue could make it
tougher to pass a final bill in the House given the prospect of
defections from Rep. Bart Stupak and other pro-life Democrats.
It was almost a year ago when Obama made his triumphal entry into
Notre Dame with promises of respecting all sides in this issue.
It was noted that there was a lot of concern at that moment from
everybody in favor of his appearance about The Poor. Its odd that
all of this concern about The Poor often surfaces when the
subject of abortion comes up. Its as if being against it in any
way makes you a heartless villain for not thinking that a
compassionate way to eliminate human suffering is to eliminate
individual human beings.

It's like he's voting "present" again. The coward's way.
There I go again using strong words.
Will I ever learn?
We all know he loves abortion on demand. Yes we do Obama. Yes, we
do.
Prove us wrong.

The abortion proposal is probably secret, partially because
reconciliation can't be used for abortion issues.
Le Marteau| 2.23.10 @ 7:38AM
Obviously, Obama knows the only way any of his healthcare bills
gets through is with the process of "reconciliation" which only
needs 50 votes. He no longer looks to capture, or needs, every
democratic vote.
