Robert Stacy McCain was everywhere at CPAC and
caught a photo of me at David Frum's happy hour Saturday
night (I was there for the same reason Stacy was... free
beer). All I can say is that Frum's party was populated by many
Ron Paul supporters but we held back rubbing in Paul's straw
poll victory out of respect for Frum giving out free beer. It
felt good to be able to walk around a neocon party and be
surrounded by libertarians not neocons. . . .
American Spectator readers will notice that
Matt
Vadum was present at the inception of CLUB, standing in front
of Upton, who is wearing a fedora:
If Ron Paul is the GOP nominee in 2012, for the first time in my
adult life, I will stay home. Two fringe candidates in a row:
nasty RINO crank, 2008; and the libertarian isolationist crank in
2012.
Any party that nominates fringe candidates twice in a row
deserves to go belly up. For that matter, any country whose major
parties can only field increasingly virulent radicals (Democrat)
and cranks (Republicans) also deserves oblivion.
Let's not forget that out of some 10,000 attendees at CPAC, Paul
actually received all of 740 votes in the straw poll. It's not
like he has broad-based support.

Close the Republican primaries. My first knowledge of the damage
caused by open primaries was the reporting from New Hampshire
Republican primary - reporting on who the Democrats and
Independents had voted for!!
So, job one for Republicans is to close their primaries. Why this
has not been mentioned in any significant way on any web sites or
at CPAC is a mystery to me.

Mike Huckabee is a decent man and an eloquent speaker but his
release of habitual violent criminals as governor of Arkansas
irreparably damaged him politically. Dead cops in Washington
State eliminates him from further Presidential consideration.

Huckabee is not a conservative as I understand the term Neither
Paler or Neo. He is more in the way of a socialy conservative
populist.

Any conservative event that leads off with a standing ovation for
a failed vice-president is probably one that has not learned why
it was rejected at the polls in 2006 and 2008. On top of that,
Dick Cheney's support for homosexual marriage and homosexuals in
the military is a slap in the face of social conservatives.
Cheney is a six lettered word for doom.

All this gloating by the Ron Paulistas.
It's depressing.
