Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, a leading House Democrat, has died. A special election will have to be held in his district no later than 60 days after the seat is officially declared vacant. Murtha's district went for John McCain in 2008 and only narrowly for John Kerry in 2004, making it a possible Republican pickup opportunity.

"Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, a leading House Democrat, has died. "

With condolences to his family and may God have mercy on his soul.

Manners, Mr. Antle.

Fair enough -- the post might have been a little terse. But I was just trying to post the news quickly, rather than supply a full obituary.

You did fair enough. He slandered his fellow Marines and aided America's enemies. He doesn't deserve much.

It's said we ought not speak ill of the dead, only good.

Murtha is dead. Good.

(apologies to Bette Davis for stealing her line.)

Tim, I'm glad the old bastard is finally dead, and I hear gallbladder surgery is painful - that was just a bonus.

Terse enough for ya?

RIP, Congressman Murtha. An American patriot who, sadly, turned into a corrupt Congressman 3 decades ago, remember ABSCAM, and even now had the Feds closing in again on earmark abuses.

PS, without repentance, there is only one destination.

PPS, Manners?
Where were they for the eight falsely accused and falsely charged Marines?

We'll say a prayer for Murtha, but also for his victims.

Dead liberals can vote. Why can't they serve in Congress?

And to add. Pork is what politicians are all about so I can't be mad at Murtha for that. The Haditha reaction from Murtha seeded a true and lasting disgust in me for that man. I won't miss him and dare i say the country is better off without him in DC. God bless you Mr. Murtha.

For a Monday, this one started out pretty well!

Rot in Hell, you corrupt, disgraceful old porker. Give our regards to Fat Teddy, too.

After his trashing of the efforts of our folks in SW Asia, Good Riddance to this bum. To his family, my condolences. The Marines, among the group he slandered, will give him an Honorable burial.

Derek Leaberry| 2.9.10 @ 10:17AM

I am of older vintage than most who post at this site. John Murtha was helpful in the Reagan Administration's military buildup against the USSR in the 80s and he deserves conservative gratitude for his efforts which led to the downfall of that monstrous regime.
