This is still true for many in the arts today. There are many fine performers, painters and the like in our midst who survive on their day-job salaries, while an awful lot of those whose lives are contained within A-list interiors and stretch-limos purvey some of the most moronic and ugly dreck you've ever seen. But the Bonos and Sean Penns of the world care about the planet, and the poor, you see. How else will they eat?
