Rand Paul's campaign has
announced an endorsement and "generous contribution" from
former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her PAC. "Governor Palin is
providing tremendous leadership as the Tea Party movement and
constitutional conservatives strive to take our country back,"
Paul said. "Sarah Palin is a giant in American politics. I
am proud to receive her support."
Rand Paul, the son of congressman and former presidential
candidate Ron Paul, is running for the Republican nomination for
U.S. Senate in Kentucky. His primary opponent, Secretary of State
Trey Grayson, is seen as the establishment favorite. Palin's
endorsement follows on the heels of similar announcements by
Steve Forbes and Dick Armey.
This shows that both Paul and Palin have matured and are willing
to provide a united front for limited government despite other
differences.
It's a pretty shrewd move for Palin as well. One Senator won't
affect foreign policy and she gains credibility with libertarians
by willing to go out on a limb for Rand Paul.
Looks like Fusionism is making
a serious comeback.
republicanblack| 2.1.10 @ 3:42PM
sarah, you are a political star. But why do you have to charge a
grassroots movement tens of thousands of dollars just to speak.
In the spirit of the common man why couldn't you just not charge
for once. Oh yea because with sarah we all know what she is
about:
Incorrect. Sarah Palin is not benefitting financially from the
Tea Party Convention. Furthermore, it is quite normal for
politicians and public figures to pick up speaking fees for
various events - it's simply the case that whatever Sarah Palin
does gains more publicity than most, thus altering people's
perceptions of what is actually pretty typical stuff.

William R| 2.1.10 @ 5:35PM
I know Erickson endorsed him and the regulars were so outraged he
hasn't mentioned it again. Just a bunch of kids that grew up on
talk radio and Fox News.
As for Palin, I think she had to do this after the McCain fiasco.
She had to endorse him, but by coming out for Paul she can get
some of her bona fides back.
Tammy| 2.2.10 @ 5:33AM
Palin doesn't have to do anything, clown; she's in the catbird
seat.
Just be quiet while you're still ahead.

From RedState"Redstaters are "just a bunch of kids that grew up

The comment section has many references back to Redstates
reaction to the Palin endorsement of Rand Paul. In particular you
have to read comments by William R- He made the comment in my
title.
Hey William R, are you willing to tell us all who you post as
here at Redstate, or are you just a lurker?
Sure William R. I was invited to Red State by Mark Kilmer back in
2005. Didn't post much. Got banned by Neil Stevens a few month
back for posting that Ronald Reagan wanted to return to the Gold
standard.
Dan Phillips| 2.1.10 @ 5:10PM
William, for the record, Red State's Erick Erickson, a notorious
Ron Paul hater, has already endorsed Rand Paul. Not sure what is
up with that, but it's true.
I'm glad to see Palin returning to her conservative roots and
endorsing a real conservative. Her neocon advisors must hate
this.

No, I don't know of any Paultards in the GOP other than Ron Paul
himself. Traditional conservatives aren't synonymous with
Paultards. The Paultard is actually a nutcase and basement virgin
in the tradition of the John Birch Society, Lyndon LaRouche, and
Alex Jones.

What is aggravating so many is that Sarah is not working

what's next.

I am not sure how I feel about this. I suppose any support given
to a conservative is good in a sense. I do worry about Rand's
conservative credibility suffering, though, if he were to
associate himself too closely with someone like Sarah Palin.
