Last night, CNN did a focus group during the State of the Union Address, and it provided further evidence of the skepticism toward President Obama among independents. As always with focus groups, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But a few things worth noting in the video below. First, whenever Obama mentioned "hope," independents reacted negatively, and during the health care portion of the speech, while the reaction meter for Democrats turned up, the reaction among independents dropped like a rock.

Obama failed to restore The Faith in him. Moderates have become cynics. Obama's very words now conjure up knee-jerk opposition from those who had hoped ObamaHope was more than 'words...just words'

The answer to why Independents hate "Hope" is thousands of years old... Proverbs 13:12 - Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

The guy's a good speaker, but I don't care about his promises and words. What improves me and my families life is action. And right now the only action I see and feel is the government run away spending. While I'm cutting back and doing without, I see congress raising our debt limits. While my family decides not to take a vacation, the IRS is increasing their ranks.

The curtain has been pulled back....the Wizard turned out to be a community organizer with a bullhorn....how fast can we get to 2012 and American back on track!

Jason A, with reference to runaway spending, we must not forget all the tax money poured into boondoggles like sending planeloads of Congresspeople and their spouses and hangers-on to a totally useless conference in Copenhagen: http://hotair.com/archives/201.....openhagen/
Food and lodging for each of them cost us over $4K per day.

5 people in his whole administration have business experience. You think he's REALLY interested in unemployment? Only if it's HIGHER and more people depend on government. Welfare = Votes

The American people has stopped listening to this President. His power is given by the People on Nov 2008 and now that power is taken back by the people. No words could reverse the slide of his poll numbers. No speech is going to undo all the broken promises he has promised during the campaign. Just words, indeed just words.

I make a ton selling anti-obama stickers. I hope this buffoon gets re-elected for my own selfish reasons. I want to sell more.

Yesterday there was some talk that the state of the nation was a seminal moment that could collapse his presidency. He didn't fail us -- it's collapsed.

Liberals are delusional to think that they will benefit from anything this Marxist fraud has to offer. Like Beck says, "contrast and compare". He really is like Hugo Chavez!

Warrior| 1.28.10 @ 4:21PM

Hugo's skin is lighter, has no detectable negro dialect, his head is much more bulbous or ovate if you prefer and frequently smells sulfur. There are many differences and, as you can see a similarity.

Last night Barack Obama waterboarded the nation with another baroque flood of words.

I've listened to his speech several times. I get it, I listened to his words so I could know exactly what he said.
Bush did it. It is Bush's fault. He left the bush cuts in place so he will take credit for not raising taxes.
The SCOTUS is wrong, the constitution is wrong, it gets in his way, the congress is wrong, so he will issue and executive order and do it anyway.
He made the statement that we had a 300 billion surplus in 2000 but were in deficit spending in 2008. He initially forgot to mention that were were attacked on 9/11 and that attack cost us dearly in lives and in national treasure. He forgot to mention that our congress authorized two wars that have been very expensive. He knew these facts but chose to hide the truth and make the statement into a bold faced lie. How in the hell can the POTUS just ignore 9/11? That is insulting to each and every American!
He compared our economic progress and industrial progress to that of China. China just told the world to stick the cap and trade scam. He wants us to compete with China while handicapped with the fable and religious like constrictions of Climate Change. Is that anywhere near a level playing field? Does he really think that no one noticed this comparison or sees the difference?
As a constitutional scholar, at least he makes that claim, he stepped up to the podium and told a bold faced lie about a recent decision of the supreme court.
He did take credit for a single mistake. He admitted that he did not explain his position on health care well enough so we stupid folks could understand it and give him his way.
He made his stock and trade claim of a transparent administration. After the health trade show the world knows that to be a lie and a joke.
This could go on for the next 10 pages but you get the point. Even the AP has taken notice of over 10 major lies in his presentation.
Our President is a liar, and not even a good liar.
Our President is a narcissist. He defines the word.
Our president needs to be watched very closely. He has the temperament and attitude that looks and sounds a great deal like that of Hugo Chavez. He wants what he wants and he is right no matter what. Us ignorant folks are just too stupid to understand so he will figure out a way to do it anyway. His statements about the SCOTUS clearly unveil his contempt for the high court and the constitution.
