Who Dat?!?!?!?!??

Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat?

Oh, when the Saints
go marching in,
oh when the Saints go marching in,
oh, I want to be in that number
when the Saints go marching in!!!

Hats off to one of the Brett Favre for one of the bravest performances I have ever seen in any sport. Hats off to the whole Vikings team and their fans. And many congrats to hometown New Orleanian Peyton Manning, New Orleanian Reggie Wayne, and the whole Colts team, too, for winning the AFC title.

That said....

Oh when that sun
begins to shine,
oh when that sun begins to shine,
oh I want to be in that number
when the sun begins to shine!
and when the Saints go marching in!!!!!

Quin, as soon as that kick sailed through the uprights I knew I had to come and check Amspec blog for your post. Congratulations to you and all the fans of the New Orleans Saints.

Thanks so much, John! It is really heartening to know how many people around this country were pulling for the Saints. Thanks again.

Hate to burst your bubble but the Saints lost to the Buccaneers this year. No team has ever won the Super Bowl that lost to Tampa Bay. It's called the Tampa Bay Curse. (Full Disclosure- I am an Atlanta Falcons fan but that fact is true.) Good luck in the Super Bowl.

Quin, congrats on the Saints!
My only problem is they stole the Bengals cheer when we were in the Super bowl.

Who Dey Who Dey
Who dey think going to beat those Bengals?

Best of luck but Peyton wins.

I was rooting for the Vikes - but you couldn't ask for a better (if a bit sloppy) game; the Saints richly deserve their title shot.

And it will be a pleasure to see the Saints at the Show for the first time, after years and years of being the 'Aints.

Saints over Colts by 3.

The Saints ain't Ain'ts no more.

WHO FRREAKIN' DAT.

And we went through the bleeping Vikings, the Bane of the Saints (somewhat involved in ruining just about every playoff run) to do it.

I'm a fan of the Wh0 Deys (Cincy Bengals), but I do salute the Who Dats. I'm very happy for the city of New Orleans. Great people, great town.

Oldefarte| 1.25.10 @ 10:42AM

To the Cincy fans claiming a stolen song, [as someone who witnessed the New Orleans Saints from their inception in the 1960's; and as a pro football fan of most of my 63 years], let me inform you all that the 'Wo Dat' song was instituted/established long before the Cincinnati Bengals ever came into existance. That said, congrats to all Saints fans for the victory. It can no longer be said that the Saints were/are the ONLY pro football team to never make it to the Super Bowl. The Saints were very, very lucky in that game, though, and should have had the referee ruling in that final drive toward the field goal kick called against them [the receiver/Colston(?) clearly did not have complete possession of the football]. As I predicted, Greg Williams and the Saints' D did aggressively go after 40 year old Farve and knock him around a tad, which resulted in his reverting as usual back to his gunslinger mentality and throwing that last interception. Maybe now he knows how Tony Romo felt a week ago. Anyway, in all honesty, I now feel that the Colts/Manning will beat the Saints----Manning is super-human as a QB, their receivers are too fast and talented for the Saints' D, and their aggressive pass rush will give Brees fits!!!!

I am happy for NO, but they reallly were gifted that game. Some of the calls weren't as bad as you might see in say, a Patriots home game, but there were some seriously questionable ones. Favre should hang his head in shame (and hang whoever called a pass on that 3rd down late in regulation), he is old enough to know better.

I am just glad to see the Jets gone...what a fraud that would have been. They played out of their minds and still got crushed.

astorian| 1.25.10 @ 10:47AM

The big question now? Who's Archie Manning gonna be rooting for?

Seriously, I'd bet that almost EVERYONE outside of Indiana is going to be rooting for the Saints.

I hope Saints fans show up in Miami with some fun, cool, upbeat, positive variation on the old paper bags embarrassed fans used to wear over their heads!

I have not had much interest in football in 20 years. I watched no NFL games this year. Only one thing interests me. The NFL needs to get rid of the field goal and the pat kick. All pat's should be run or pass. It is absurd to have a have fought game decided by a cheap kick. A four touchdown game should be settled by real pat's; 27-25 or something. A close game should be decided by a last minute touchdown. This would make for more exciting games as the teams would have to work on pat drills as well as two minute drills. No more foreign soccer players coming in to keeck a touchdown.
