A new Gallup poll finds that 55 percent of Americans want Democrats in Congress to kill the current health care bill and start over, compared with just 39 percent who say they should continue attempting to pass the current health care bill.

Independents want work on the current bill suspended by a 56-37 percent margin; Republicans want it killed by a 87 percent to 7 percent margin; and Democrats by want it passed by 67 percent to 26 percent margin.

In addition, less than a third of Americans -- or just 32 percent -- say that it's right that health care is Congress's top priority, while 65 percent say other problems should be addressed first or that it shouldn't be a priority.

Meanwhile, 72 percent said that Scott Brown's win reflects Americans' frustrations, compared with just 18 percent who say it was just a reflection of political conditions in Massachusetts.

In light of these numbers, if Democrats attempt to ram their bill through using reconciliation, it would be absolute Armageddon for them in November.

This implies that up to 67% of Democrats are the "progressive" type? That is frightening. The education system is doing its job well.

It is dead.

The only health care bill which could pass would be a totally new bill with significant Republican support.

The Democrats will never get Lieberman and Nelson to walk that same plank again. They'd need a lot more than one Republican to reach 60 votes.

The ideal scenario would be to get the Senate bill and have it voted down. If we let the Democrats rejigger this thing AGAIN, we will get something even worse. They're going to rewrite it, anyway, so if ANYTHING passes, we'll have socialized medicine.

The bill needs to die. New and relevant REAL healthcare bills addressing issues upon which Americans agree, like tort reform, should then be put forward through transparent negotiations. The heinous corruption and back room dealing that birthed the current chronicle of misdeeds needs to die with it, and be buried with this sad chapter in American history.
