FITCHBURG, Mass. -- He is the president of an American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) local in Worcester and says that he is one of three officials of the local who is supporting Republican Scott Brown.

There is top-down pressure from AFSCME pressuring locals to support Democrat Martha Coakley, but the president of this local (there are multiple AFSCME locals in Worcester) says he tosses those directives "straight in the garbage."

This special election is a harbinger of future results, said this blue-collar reneaged. "I've got a sign on my wall -- 'Kerry, You're Next!'"

There is nothing local at stake Update: It’s one thing for the local pols to sit back and do nothing, this is quite another: He is the president of an American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) local in Worcester and says that he is one of three officials of the local who is…

Robert, I hope that you're correct about this Massachusetts official; and that HERMAN MUNSTER is eventually defeated/retired!!!!

Flee| 1.19.10 @ 3:11PM

Yeahhh! It's nice to see actual union leadership, even if it's local, stand up to the bosses. Keep spreading the word.

Phineas| 1.19.10 @ 3:24PM

Can I join this guy's local? I've given up on mine being anything more than a bunch of tools.

…videos from earlier were addressed. Update: Drudge headline at 8:15 ET: Scott Brown (R) 50% Martha Coakley (D) 49% Remember, it’s early. Update: While waiting for election returns, read Stacy McCain’s report about the Massachusetts union official who voted for Brown and had a warning for the other Massachusetts senator. How delicious! Bill O’Reilly just reported Brown is ahead 52% to 47%. But…

Right wingers love unions suddenly. Whores.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. That really shouldn't be beyond you to grasp. Or...well...whatever.

Benjamin| 1.20.10 @ 5:08AM

Well, maybe unions are waking up to the fact that the Democrats work for Wall Street. Things will get interesting when they realize that the Republicans not only work for Wall Street, but are proud of it.

Pogo| 1.20.10 @ 7:01AM

The Brown victory is simply an anomaly. Coakley was a terrible choice for the slot. Of course this what you get with political machines.

Americans had nearly 12 years of republican control of Congress and 30 years of Reaganomics.

The republicans broke this country. Plain and simple. Don't get me wrong here, I am no fan of the democrats either. Both parties are beholden to the top 2% of the tax scale.

I'm sorry but even the dolts have figured out that the parties are simply two sides of the same coin and neither represents the citizens.

Dave| 1.20.10 @ 7:42AM

No anomaly, my friend. When politicians ignore the people they get fired. The vast majority of the people I know are already fed up with the President's lies. For example, he stated that all healthcare debates would be made public but now that he finds out it's tough work, he takes it behind closed doors and doesn't even apologize for it.

Unionbutnotdumb| 1.20.10 @ 8:43AM

You union guys better ask yourselves what republicans have ever done for you. Don't you get it, they hate you, why do you think they sent all the auto jobs overseas, why do they hate public schools- unions. Instead of voting republican and shooting yourself in the foot, take over the dems and do yourselves some good. The republicans want to give all your jobs to people who work for minimum wage and then get rid of minimum wage. Wise up.

DownriverDem| 1.20.10 @ 9:06AM

What do those in MA want? Do they honestly think the Repubs are on their side? When Brown votes no in lock step with all the Repubs on the issues MA holds dear, then they will cry and I will laugh.

We are doomed. Each person for themselves.

MA danced on Sen. Kennedy's grave last night.

SmarTex| 1.20.10 @ 11:38AM

Well hey all you Mass. boneheads. Done a real number on yourselves, huh? Watch what "Nudie Boy" does to your state. Watch what he does in Washington. "Waterboarding?", Corp. Bail-outs, Sarah Palin. Y'all done good, Mass. Now let's stick a curling iron up yr collective buttholes.

That would be big news if I hadn’t already reported a week ago that SEIU members were supporting Brown and if I hadn’t reported on Election Day that an AFSCME local official was supporting Brown.
