Wow.
Brown wins.
This is huge.
But word is that the White House will try to “double down” and
try to force through health care anyhow.
1) It won’t work.
2) Obama will make himself so unpopular by doubling down that he
will find himself at absolute political war with a solid majority
of the country.
3) He will try to use executive orders, regulatory/bureaucratic
edicts, and a corrupt Justice Department to force through leftist
changes in all sorts of areas of daily life. In short, he will
become more openly authoritarian. This means we are in for some
rocky times. This man is playing for keeps, and he is not a small
‘r’ republican at heart. He is an Alinskyite. Power is everything
to him. All who believe in limited government must gird up our
loins, because (sorry for the cliches) Barack Obama will not go
gentle into that good night.

I think you've pegged Obama to a T. After all, what is he really? He's the malcontent-organizer we heard so much about, for those that listened anyway.
He's going to be 'historic' one way or the other. I think folks are getting fed up with his superiority complex on top of his Leftist orders. It might get downright embarrassing to watch at some point, even if it fulfills our fondest wishes.
Nelson H| 1.19.10 @ 10:07PM
Agree with your analysis, but if does double down and cram health care down our throats, as I fully expect, the midterm election will be a Democratic disaster with every prospect of another GOP tsunami in 2012 if the economy doesn't recover, which it won't, so long as Obama is pursuing kamikaze economics. Under the circumstances it has to be considered a very serious possibility that HRC would leave office this year and mount another challenge. The way things are heading Obama won't be running for re-election.
Franklin| 1.19.10 @ 10:11PM
Waaa Hoooo!
Watch how the left will try to spin this. But WE know.
As to Obama, yes, he will "pull out all the stops" which will be even more fuel on the fire of the American people's rage.
Be ready to do more protesting - loudly - and take heart, don't give up.
We won a battle but the was goes on...

Our most earnest prayers have been answered.
Thank you Father!
You have given our country another chance.
Thank You.
Ran / Si Vis Pacem | 1.19.10 @ 11:02PM
Mr Hillyer,
Thanks - I find your message to be disturbingly plausible. A month or so back Obama gave a speech in which in quick succession he criticized America twice. There was a momentary flash of the expression on his face each time - registered genuine pain and anger at America. Simultaneously sobering and alarming. This was the mask slipping - a deep animus exposed.
Listen to Holder's infamous rant about race relations and it's there too.
"This means we are in for some rocky times." Suit-up. Tonight we took the beach. There is a long, mean road ahead to clear out a century of "progressive" cancer.
MarkJ| 1.19.10 @ 11:09PM
"[Obama] will become more openly authoritarian."
Entirely possible. If so, Obama will make "history"...by being the first President forcibly removed from office. He'll be lucky to just get away with an impeachment and conviction, y'know what I mean?
NavyBrat| 1.19.10 @ 11:38PM
MarkJ. I agree with your assertion. Again, I refer to our Founders:
"The President of the United States would be liable to be impeached, tried, & upon conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crimes & misdemeanors, removed from office; and would afterwards be liable to prosecution and punishment in the ordinary course of law. The person of the King of Great Britain is sacred and inviolable: There is no constitutional tribunal to which he is amendable, no punishment to which he can be subjected without involving the crisis of a national revolution."...Alexander Hamilton
While Obama is no King George the Turd, if he faincies himself as such, we can disabuse him of this notion be bringing about our own "crisis of national revolution." We've begun the first step of that process tonight.

Let's not get carried away now. Brown is still a RINO.
Norm Brown| 1.20.10 @ 12:09AM
I don't think they believe him to be a RINO in Massachusetts. The RINO label is getting a little tired ...
Allen G| 1.20.10 @ 12:21AM
Dude, are you a total doofus?
Yes, Scott Brown is a far more socially liberal Republican than I'd like here in Texas. But he was the most conservative candidate who could get elected.
As long as he stays focused on healthcare (stopping any Federal "reform"), national defense, and the economy, I don't care if he's "pro-choice." His stance on that has little chance to affect me or mine in any way.
Scandalous!| 1.20.10 @ 2:44PM
You're a RINO, Red--you should be happy.
victor| 1.19.10 @ 11:27PM
RINO?
Define RINO?
Someone who supports Gun Rights?
Someone who supports Marriage?
Someone who supports Energy Independence?
Or is it someone who supports Israel and says so and not your precious palestinians?
Someone like Scott Brown, perhaps?
Nick| 1.19.10 @ 11:43PM
Good one, Victor!
Red Phillips | 1.20.10 @ 9:11AM
I have never once said I support the Palestinians, whatever that has to do with this discussion. I said I support American neutrality and disengagement from the Middle East.
He is a RINO because he is overtly pro-choice, is pro-gay marriage by default, is not a tax cutter, is not a spending cutter, supported Romney Care. Need I go on. His voting pattern arguably places him to the left of Scozzafava. Proof below.

I'm glad he won, but don't kid yourself about who he really is.
Jeremiah| 1.20.10 @ 2:47PM

Let's wait and see how he behaves.
NavyBrat| 1.19.10 @ 11:31PM
As to Mr. Hillyer's last point, my only response is to take comfort in the words of our founders. They were proven correct in their assumptions of the American public. They will again be roven correct in the bareknuckled fight that is sure to ensue.
"But if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline & the use of arms, who stands ready to defend their rights."...Alexander Hamilton
"Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to G*d!"...Thomas Jefferson
"A government resting on the minority is an aristocracy, not a Republic, & could not be safe with a numerical & physical force against it, without a standing army, an enslaved press, & a disarmed populace."...James Madison
In these words, I take comfort.
George Watson| 1.20.10 @ 12:07AM
No way Obama tries to double down. They're back to square one on health care. Perhaps now there will be REAL reform.
Scott Brown is a great Republican Senator for Massachusetts. I don't give a crap about that RINO rant.
Red Phillips | 1.20.10 @ 9:16AM
So despite all the conservative bellyaching about the GOP needing to return to its conservative roots, in the end, when all is said and done, it really is just about Team R?
That's good to know. The GOP thanks you for being their tool.
ds80| 1.20.10 @ 9:54AM
Sour grapes, Red? Go piss on your own cornflakes, coz that's all you're doing.
Red Phillips | 1.20.10 @ 10:11AM
So he isn't a RINO? Prove it big mouth. Show me from his votes he isn't a RINO.
But what does it really matter if he is a RINO? It all about Team R don't you know?
I don't know which is worse, RINOs or deluded GOP sycophant pseudocons who think they are real cons.
Jeremiah| 1.20.10 @ 2:48PM
You sound just like Toddard, Red. Hmmm.
Nick| 1.20.10 @ 10:33AM
Mr. Phillips,
In the Soviet Socialist Republic of Massachusetts, THIS IS returning to it's conservative roots.
Senator-elect Brown is the equivalent of Jesse Helms in the Bay State.
Is he a RINO? Only time will tell.
But there is always the chance that he is playing the democrat game in reverse. Pretending to be moderate, while secretly being a conservative.
One thing is for sure, ObamaCare is dead.
Buh-bye ObamaCare, buh-bye!
Red Phillips | 1.20.10 @ 11:17AM
Nick, I'm not ignorant of the fact that this is about the best we can expect in the People's Republic of Mass. Read what I wrote here.
http://conservativetimes.org/?p=4258
My problem is that too many national conservatives seem to be either ignorant of where he stands on the issues or too willing to paper over it. Rhetorically, it is dangerous to be this praising of someone who is only partially on our side.
Red Phillips | 1.20.10 @ 11:21AM
Is the message we want to send that it is ultimately only about Team R winning? That gives the RINOs cover and disempowers us. I admit this was an unusual case because of the 41st vote against health care raised the stakes. But now that the deed is done and he is in office, we need to back off the uncritical praise.
Nick| 1.20.10 @ 8:50PM
Mr. Phillips,
One this we can agree.
I hope conservatives concentrate on getting rid of democrats in red states. Like Ben Nelson in Nebraska.
Yosemeti Sam| 1.20.10 @ 12:22AM
" ... by doubling down ...."
Actually we'll see so much of BHO on TV jabbering about whatever, it'd be like watching Max Headroom - of artificial intelligence fame.

The wheels have officially come off. The spell is broken.
Congress will get the message, loud and clear, even if BHO does not. Who would have imagined that Bawney Fwank would be the first to start backpeddling away from the administration within an hour of Martha's concession speech?
It's every man for himself now. It's going to be a contest as to how much daylight the Blue Dogs and just about everyone else on the Hill can put between themselves and The One between now and November.
I agree that Obama is incapable of triangulating. The man is a fanatic and his mask is going to start slipping bigtime. If he really does decide to go Hugo on our a$$es we likely won't even have to wait till the election before history's fastest impeachment is undertaken. Don't underestimate democrat politicians decisiveness in acting in their own self-preservation. When they realize The Messiah really is a crazed Marxist ideologue and sees THEM as disposable they will take him down as fast as possible to minimize the damage both to liberalism's prospects and their own. The MSM will do a 180 as well when they realize the longer Barry is in office the more massively will liberalism be repudiated. They will have to make an example of him to save their own hides.
I had said Obama was going to become America's Salvador Allende but now I'm beginning to think that's going to be a fact.
Sure hope the White House doesn't get shot up in the process.

Ladies and Gentlemen, before you go to bed tonight or in the morning, please don't forget to pray on bended knee for this great gift from God. We have been given a great chance that cannot be wasted or taken for granted.
Quin, Old Texican, Margie and all of my great friends here on AS....thank you for your defense of our great Republic, for the strength of your noble words and the courage of your convictions.....Patriots All.
Doctor Dan| 1.20.10 @ 7:24AM
I too want to first thank God. I have wavered between a belief that we as a nation have become too apathetic, and the alternate belief that there must still be enough patriotic, independent souls in the nation to rise up and preserve this wonderful nation. Mr. Brown's victory is spectactular, but not in my mind a partisan, but rather a populous victory. It is, however, just the first of what must be many if we are to defeat the progressive movement.

Truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, Quin! Thanks, as always. As I've said too many times previously, THE CHOSEN ONE was trojun-horsed into 1600, and now, sadly, America is paying the ultimate price for their stupidity in electing him [and previously these liberal Democrats]. We have only ourselves for what is happening now, and the only solution is for every hard-working, tax-paying, church-attending/supporting, American to go to their respective polling places in every state and vote for conservative Americans who are dedicated [like Brown, etc] toward serving the people who financially support this country, and who deserve responsible representation from their elected leaders!!!!!

RINO? Yawn. What a stupid term. Brown is clearly a right-of-center libertarian on the ideological spectrum. That's all that matters. Anyone caught up in party labels is the true root of the problem. The fact is, Republicans can be for OR against abortion rights, for OR against marriage rights, and yes, even for OR against state-run health care (so long as it is kept to the state level, and not brought to the national level). What matters with a republican is that they are for states and local communities making the decisions that best suit their people, and not having a federal bureaucracy dictate a one-size-fits all way of life.
