Wlady,
Sarah earned more "credibility" than CPAC could give her...by dropping by for dinner with Billy Graham.
She will be unique in our experience...great...or good... or maybe not.
She is getting tready to address the Tea Parties...person to person.....
HUGE! the biggest movement in America, and she has said with no hesitation...I am a Republican.
She may just drag the stupid party into line.
One can hope.

Wlady doesn't post often, but when he does, he's right on target. Well said.

Perhaps CPAC should offer her money. She would certainly attend then.

Wlady,
In effect, you answered your own question. When even Erick Erickson, who is no shrinking violet, has to walk on eggshells to offer the slightest constructive criticism for Sarah Palin, that is incredibly strong evidence that too many of her defenders have become too virulent. The truth is that, to be all she can be, Palin needs MORE friendly criticism, even pointed friendly criticism, from conservatives, not less. Thick political skins aren't built in cocoons -- and she will need a thick skin. That she also could use some more experience will go unsaid, though, because readers will try to run anybody who says it out of the whole conservative movement on a rail. Sarah Palin has a lot of potential. For it to be reached, she must be challenged, not mollycoddled.

Alternatively, the fact that he was walking on eggshells suggests he has background info on why her absence from CPAC is a big deal and/or why TPN is not trustworthy, but cannot or would rather not share those details. I absolutely do not understand the jihad against Palinbots because relatively big-name bloggers should be able to withstand such criticism, particularly if it is coming from uninformed quarters. I seriously doubt that blind adoration from the online community could damage Palin in any meaningful way.

Mr. H. has a point. Somewhere along the line, Palin has to decide that she will place a limit on what she thinks of herself in light of other's criticism... in other words, decide what criticism is constructive and let the rest roll off.
Perrhaps CPAC isn't as central as it once was to getting the Conservative message to a wide audience. I'll revise an earlier opinion though and say that CPAC may serve best for those who speak... a test by fire. In that respect it would be wise for Sarah to accept, even if belatedly.
Thank-you Mr Pleszczynski & Mr Hillyer for your thoughts.

CPAC is, arguably, the ultimate insider gathering for conservatives. Though very conservative, Gov. Palin's enormous appeal rests on not being an insider. She has the conservative loyalists, she needs more. Sen. McCain gave her a huge opening to others (i.e. "mavericks", independents, disgusted non-partisans etc.), and the Tea Partiers are the current best place for her to exploit that.
She doesn't need to burnish the right and far right, and she could not care less for the far left (except to keep the media rabid), so the Fox gig and finding a conservative democrat or two to work with are what she'll likely focus on for a while.
And, she can always return to CPAC well before whatever race she next enters. Both she and they will still be available.

Didn't SP tell BO'R that she wasn't being paid by the tea party convention organizers?

Will keep writing it:
this is a man's world.

Hello, Alan
It's like the litle girl said..."yes, but with one of these...I can get all of those I want."
hmm_contrib| 1.14.10 @ 5:14PM
M.E.H.: No.
PALIN: "I will not financially be gaining anything from this."
O'REILLY: You should though. You have a family to support.
PALIN: I'm going to...
O'REILLY: Take the money.
PALIN: You know what's more important? More important than money in my pocket from an event like that is being able to turn it right back around and contribute to campaigns, candidates and issues that will help our country.
So she says she is getting paid but will give it to others later.

Thanks. I was just about to post that.
When will people stop listening to talking pointy heads and just listen to the actual words from the people they are talking/writing about?
Why do people believe everything they hear and read from both sides?
If you can't verify it, then don't believe it. Better yet, don't repeat it.
