With the
news that Sarah Palin is headed to Fox to be a regular
contributor, I figured I'd make a bold set of predictions about
what to expect:
-- Palin will say a bunch of stuff that will anger liberals, who
will respond with outrage and call on other Republicans to
denounce her.
-- Conservatives will come to her defense and say she's
being unfairly attacked by the left because they fear her.
-- Any conservative commentators who disagree with anything Palin
says on Fox will be branded elitist RINOs who don't understand
her appeal to real Americans.
"-- Any conservative commentators who disagree with anything
Palin says on Fox will be branded elitist RINOs who don't
understand her appeal to real Americans."
~Guess it depends on your definition of conservative. If it is
Paleo-con conservative then of course. The Paleos are
non-interventioists and agree with the Left in that area. Who
else? Libertarian conservative? Of course. They don't believe
there ought to be laws governing the country.. free drugs, sex
and rock n' roll.
So yes indeed it depends on your definition.
If you believe that government should be limited, Military ought
to be strong, and taxes should be low, you'd be the kind of
conservative Sarah Palin is. My kind.
ralph| 1.11.10 @ 3:50PM
I think liberals will call on Republicans to denounce Palin
because many of her statements are just wrong.
Also, what, if not taxes, pay for a strong military?
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 4:05PM

Alan Brooks| 1.11.10 @ 8:03PM
Sarah is okay, yet she is still an intellectual.
Intellectuals are mistrusted not only because they are considered
intimidating, but also because as those less intelligent
manipulate unsophisticated symbols they are vaguely aware that an
intellectual-- being more sophisticated-- manipulates more
sophisticated symbols. It goes without saying a symbol is in no
way reality, only a representation of reality subject to the
self-deception of the captain of the symbolic craft. And if the
captain is a secret Bligh, then the seamen who read his
philosophy run the risk of being intellectually keel-hauled. No
seaman can be exactly sure what it is a captain is thinking.
Doesn't concern me, however to those of more integrity it might
be of some concern.
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 8:36PM
Huh? Sarah Palin is an intellectual? First time I've heard that

Alan, would you please tell 'Beltway Insider' Klein that Sarah's

TomK| 1.12.10 @ 4:45PM
Sarah Palin did say that you can see Russia from Alaska, which is
a true statement. Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin, said that, "I can

martin j smith| 1.11.10 @ 4:05PM
There are taxes, and then there are taxes and taxation policies
but here is an interesting take. Lets look at social security and
medicare for example. Unless you have large number of people
working to PAY TAXES, there is NO INCOME BASE ,RIGHT ?
So, you need large scale employment --like in the private sector
to get taxes paid to such programs as social security to make
them solvent--Have you heard of being solvent-not bankrupt. So
yes, you people working, who pay taxes which affords the ability
to have these programs. But the current economic policies have
failed to produce large scale employment ( And if i hear one
person blaming bush i say to you--keep your ostrich head in the
sand because such as person a) does not know how to take
responsibility for their actions and b) I do do not have time to
spend on their foolishness ).
So in conclusion --you need employment to collect taxes from
people who have income. No employment, no income base, no
programs.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 4:16PM
Exactly right. And with the Socialist policies of Obama & co.
destroying the private sector and unemployment rising, well the
goal is to have us all dependent on the government.. and
everything run by the government.
o| 1.11.10 @ 3:20PM
are you jealous or what?
Edward Brandt| 1.11.10 @ 3:28PM
Margie, you like limited government, but think there "ought to be
laws governing ... free drugs, sex and rock n' roll." That
doesn't sound very limited to me.
Mr. Klein has quite nicely summarized Palin as a Fox commentator.
I'm bored by her already ...
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 3:41PM
Good try. Ok~ I will clarify for those who may have, just may
have taken that as this poster "tried to"~ "Free drugs, sex &
rock n' roll" being the attitude. Legalized drugs being the
desire. Am I wrong? No.
martin j smith| 1.11.10 @ 3:55PM
So why did you post a comment. If you are so bored go an an eco
tour, or watch birds or perhaps get out a telescope and look at
stars. whatever.
My view on Palin is this": in the arena of social conservatism I
do not share her views but on areas of economics, energy and other
issues where she gets the Dems going--i like her. Unlike many in
both parties she is an independent and stands up for herself
which i believe is to her credit.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 4:11PM
She's an independent thinker in that she doesn't go along with
the establishment Republicans when they are wrong. But she is a
conservative Republican. And she does appeal even to some
Democrats. as Reagan was able to, because she is truthful. That's
just one more reason for the Left to fear her so much..she
appeals even to some of them!
Edward Brandt| 1.11.10 @ 4:30PM

Edward Brandt| 1.11.10 @ 4:28PM
I like Palin, and I enjoyed her during the campaign. I'm only
saying that Mr. Klien correctly points out how Palin on Fox will
work. I already know her take on every issue, and I know what the

she will come across well.

and long after.
Man...can she make a lot of friends in this role!
Wow.
Chris| 1.11.10 @ 5:19PM
I would never had thought it possible, but the collective IQ over
at Fox News has been lowered.
BTW, Margie - going around defending Palin, you really need to
get a life. What statements has Palin said that were wrong you
ask. Well, there's too many to list but here's one for you, Palin
was recently quoted as saying "Ronald Reagan faced an even worse
recession than the current one." Flat out wrong. Even Reagan
would have thought this woman was an idiot.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 5:26PM
Well Chris dear, if I ought to get a life for defending her, you
need to get one for the equal and opposite reaction time,
hmm?
Lets see how many hours you spend here trying to discredit her!
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.11.10 @ 6:28PM
Chris, in all "genteelness", you are mistaken.
You just go ahead and "list " those wrong statements by Governor
Palin.
The one you mentioned doesn't hold any water at all.
Mr. Reagan came in after four looooooong years of complete
economic and geo-political disintegration.
(Perhaps you are too young to remember, and that is OK, but trust
me...Sarah was correct. See, Mr. Carter had given up on America's
freemen.)
Conversely, Mr. Obama has only had one single year to screw
things up...and the worst is coming and you probably won't see it
quite as quickly as those of us who have been here before.)
So...Sarah was totally on target.
Let me tell you a little true story. You won't quite buy it, but
many others here will.
Carter wrecked 40 years of international trade surpluses. How? by
income taxing ex-patriot Americans working in foreign markets. (I
know...I was one.) hundreds of thousands of we ex-pats said screw
it. If I'm gonna get taxed the same, I ain't gonna live in this
armpit...I'm going home.
...We bought American equipment and supplies while in those
armpits...our replacements bought stuff from their
countries...oops!
victor| 1.11.10 @ 11:26PM
Reagan, my dear delusional democrat, would have hired her in a
New York Minute.
I lived through the Paradise that was Jimmy Carter's America and
was lucky to make it over the finish line. I was still a
democrat, but still glad those years were over.
20% interest rates, inflation above 10%, gas lines,
general misery to go around.
Either you are too young to remember or are a real fan of Carter.
Or maybe Howard Zinn.
Richard Baker| 1.11.10 @ 5:37PM
I am always amazed at how the Queen of Moose Stew frightens the
Hell out of Liberals/RINOs. If she's so stupid, then leave her be

victor| 1.11.10 @ 11:28PM
The libs think that she's so incompetent, she cannot be trusted
to blow herself up, so they want to help her out.
Roy| 1.11.10 @ 6:09PM
I'm just frustrated because I want her doing, not talking.
Granted to get anything done in politics you have to be good at
talking, what I liked about her before was that she was a doer.
She actually cut spending and made the people like it, which is
something basically nobody else at the time had done. She was
getting a pipeline built and all kinds of work done in her state.
Her husband being an oil worker was highly symbolic. These were
real people who would tell all the Paulsons and Geithners where
to stick the idea that we needed our lives run by an all-wise,
all-powerful Washington bureaucracy which of course needed to
take half our incomes at gunpoint to do it. This was before I
knew anything about her family, moose hunting, etc.
Now that's over. Not at all that I won't be glad to see her on
Fox, but I wanted to see her saying to yibbering leftist fools
and slugs at Fannie Mae that, in the words of Charles Barkley
"You can't have my shoes, you can't have my jersey, you can't
have the taxpayer's money, you can just get beat, and go home."
She, with power, would have said that. I see nobody else on the
horizon that would. She's now stuck talking and not doing and I
can't say I'm happy about it.
Ken (Old texican)| 1.11.10 @ 6:36PM
Heh! Roy I hear you...loud and clear!
She can't take office right now...rules. Why not explode several
million communist heads in the meantime?
Seriously...A lot of Americans are going to have a chance to get
to know her. (sigh) most people will NEVER READ her book.
Most Americans will like her as they get to know her.
I'm delighted for her and for us....given that she isn't VP.
Liberal Reader| 1.11.10 @ 6:52PM
What should we expect from Palin at Fox?
Only the uncompromising, hard-hitting, high quality journalism
we've grown to expect from Fox News.
What were you thinking?
Palin will no doubt do the hard stories. Her fearless reporting
will fulfill the noble calling of journalists everywhere: to
comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
Ms. Palin will carry on the great traditions of Fox News. She
will break the big stories; she will scoop the competitors; she
will promote the sort of long-form journalism upon which an
informed electorate depends.
Palin's massive erudition, brilliant analytic skills, searching
intellect, and her mastery of the language will make her an
irreplaceable figure in the world of journalism.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 7:22PM
Knowledge and a searing intellect alone do not equal
wisdom.
Wisdom comes from God. And Sarah knows her God.
Knowing right from wrong and being able to discern how to make
the right choices for America is what matters, especially in a
leader, something Obama does not possess.
But I just know Liberal Reader will be watching.. won't you?

Sarah Palin is definitely a smart lady. And she's a good person
with a sense of humor. She has her heart in the right place as
far as what America needs. I did vote for her. And I'm not a

When I started reading and hearing some of the things she said

"wrong statements by Sarah Palin." Now, as expected, the sources
were mostly Democrat origin. However, what am I suppose to think
when I see/hear her answer a question or make a comment on a
video that isn't correct? It's disappointing that someone I had
some hope for would turn out to be just like all the other
politicians.

Margie| 1.11.10 @ 3:41PM
Good try. Ok~ I will clarify for those who may have, just may have taken that as this poster "tried to"~ "Free drugs, sex & rock n' roll" being the attitude. Legalized drugs being the desire. Am I wrong? No.
martin j smith| 1.11.10 @ 3:55PM
So why did you post a comment. If you are so bored go an an eco tour, or watch birds or perhaps get out a telescope and look at stars. whatever.
My view on Palin is this": in the arena of social conservatism I do not share her views but on areas of economics, energy and other issues where she gets the Dems going--i like her. Unlike many in both parties she is an independent and stands up for herself which i believe is to her credit.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 4:11PM
She's an independent thinker in that she doesn't go along with the establishment Republicans when they are wrong. But she is a conservative Republican. And she does appeal even to some Democrats. as Reagan was able to, because she is truthful. That's just one more reason for the Left to fear her so much..she appeals even to some of them!
Edward Brandt| 1.11.10 @ 4:30PM
Birds really aren't my thing, unless you're using slang for dames. I'm more into sex and rock n' roll.
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 8:37PM
Ew. Just our type, right, Margie? Not.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 8:56PM
Hi SoCon! I think all those peeps (trolls) from the other thread got worn out.. it's so quiet in here.
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 9:49PM
I agree. That thread went on forever! Ha.
victor| 1.11.10 @ 11:09PM
"ought to be no laws governing ... free drugs, sex and rock n' roll."
Ahh yes, another libertarian heard from.
BTW those matters should be left up to the States and not the Federal Government.
PS I hear San Francisco gov't is hiring. Right up your alley and down your street, eh?

"Boom, Taste my Nightstick"!
Can't wait.
Kyle Smith| 1.11.10 @ 3:35PM
Aw Ed, your bored with her already? Are you looking for more of a hope and change candidate? Phil, you forgot to add 4.) Weak kneed conservative bloggers will include disclaimers predicting that commenters will blast them, because they still haven't come up with a coherent arguement on why Palin is worse than any other well known politician these days. 5.) Palin's Facebook posts will continue to have 100 times more influence than those on American Spectator, The Corner, Hot Air, etc. , etc. combined.
Edward Brandt| 1.11.10 @ 4:28PM
I like Palin, and I enjoyed her during the campaign. I'm only saying that Mr. Klien correctly points out how Palin on Fox will work. I already know her take on every issue, and I know what the response to her commentary will be from those on the left and the right. She does have a pretty good sense of humor, and I think she will come across well.
Dixie Pixie| 1.11.10 @ 4:19PM
Huckabee, Rove and now Sarah Palin
Has Fox News turned into a political retirement home for the right-wing of the Republican Party????
Does three points in a line make a trend.

Who says Sarah is retiring?

I am just asking a question.
Republican Party rules and Federal laws state a person can be a Media Pundit or a Candidate but not both.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 5:22PM
No need to get nasty... pardon me for my "unliterary Literary" skills? Always attack on a personal level. Chalk one up for you.

Many pardons if you took my intended complement for a insult.
I have always enjoyed reading your spirited posts. I especially like your style of Troll bashing.
I was only pointing out Fox News seems to be a collection point for the Right-Wing of the Republican Party. You have my apologies for the mistake.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 7:09PM
Dixie,
Thank you so much for saying that! I'm very grateful to you for saying it.. it means more to me than you know, and now, you have made a friend for life.. that is if you will allow me such an honor. Sorry I took it that way.
Oh my, if you like my Troll bashing then perhaps I ought not lighten up on them. :^)
As for Fox being a collection point for the Right Wing. Like Martha Stewart says. "It's a good thing!"
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 9:54PM
I like both of you girls. I always enjoy your posts, especially those that give a good smackdown to trolls.
Hooray for our side!
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 10:56PM
SoCon,
Thanks. We seem to have gone from not so friendly.. to friendly, I'm glad. I've seen some of your posts where you speak more at length, and you put your thoughts together well. Better than I can. You ought to do that more often, you certainly seem to have a lot to offer. :^)
(btw, I'm pretty sure Dixie's a guy).
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 11:42PM
You're right, Dix is a guy--I forgot. Kind of odd, but oh, well.
My bad! Sorry, Dixie--we're not so bad, though!
Dixie Pixie| 1.12.10 @ 10:05AM
Not a problem SoCon.
I adopted the handle specificity to confuse the Obama Brute Squad of the White House Office of Suspicious Internet Activity. I am glad to see the deception is working.
Why Yes, there are male Pixies, although they are very rare. {:-)
Kyle Smith| 1.11.10 @ 4:46PM
Yeah, I kind of agree. I'm not thrilled with Huckabee on Fox, because I think Huckabee is not the answer to America's problems. I don't know if Palin is, but I'm not convinced she isn't, and there isn't anyone else who I really like. Plus, she has yet to tick me off or sit on a couch with the likes of Nancy Pelosi like Newt and McCain. I will be more skeptical of her, if I hear her say, "we need to reach across the aisle".
Pete2| 1.11.10 @ 4:31PM
I see the P&M crowd is already in full howl..know what you AH's? Palin appeals to the average person who is neither repub or dem. We're the ones who always get the shaft and we're the ones who listen to FOX news...so know what...stuff it, don't wanna hear anymore of your c***. Go Sarah, tell these jerks where to get off.
osbourne cox| 1.11.10 @ 4:33PM
Good lord, what a defensive, whimpy post! what next? Klein appears on 60 Minutes crying about that mean old Palin? where did the GOP find these girly men?
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.11.10 @ 4:47PM
WoW!
Congratulations, Sarah! I for one wish you the very best.
Guys,
I can't wait for Sarah to begin interacting with current events with her own voice...and can you imagine any sane political figure not giving his or her last dime to be on her show?
I think she is going to have some knockout guests, and I predict that they are going to be delighted to visit with her....during and long after.
Man...can she make a lot of friends in this role!
Wow.
Chris| 1.11.10 @ 5:19PM
I would never had thought it possible, but the collective IQ over at Fox News has been lowered.
BTW, Margie - going around defending Palin, you really need to get a life. What statements has Palin said that were wrong you ask. Well, there's too many to list but here's one for you, Palin was recently quoted as saying "Ronald Reagan faced an even worse recession than the current one." Flat out wrong. Even Reagan would have thought this woman was an idiot.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 5:26PM
Well Chris dear, if I ought to get a life for defending her, you need to get one for the equal and opposite reaction time, hmm?
Lets see how many hours you spend here trying to discredit her!
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.11.10 @ 6:28PM
Chris, in all "genteelness", you are mistaken.
You just go ahead and "list " those wrong statements by Governor Palin.
The one you mentioned doesn't hold any water at all.
Mr. Reagan came in after four looooooong years of complete economic and geo-political disintegration.
(Perhaps you are too young to remember, and that is OK, but trust me...Sarah was correct. See, Mr. Carter had given up on America's freemen.)
Conversely, Mr. Obama has only had one single year to screw things up...and the worst is coming and you probably won't see it quite as quickly as those of us who have been here before.)
So...Sarah was totally on target.
Let me tell you a little true story. You won't quite buy it, but many others here will.
Carter wrecked 40 years of international trade surpluses. How? by income taxing ex-patriot Americans working in foreign markets. (I know...I was one.) hundreds of thousands of we ex-pats said screw it. If I'm gonna get taxed the same, I ain't gonna live in this armpit...I'm going home.
...We bought American equipment and supplies while in those armpits...our replacements bought stuff from their countries...oops!
victor| 1.11.10 @ 11:26PM
Reagan, my dear delusional democrat, would have hired her in a New York Minute.
I lived through the Paradise that was Jimmy Carter's America and was lucky to make it over the finish line. I was still a democrat, but still glad those years were over.
20% interest rates, inflation above 10%, gas lines,
general misery to go around.
Either you are too young to remember or are a real fan of Carter. Or maybe Howard Zinn.
Richard Baker| 1.11.10 @ 5:37PM
I am always amazed at how the Queen of Moose Stew frightens the Hell out of Liberals/RINOs. If she's so stupid, then leave her be and she'll self-destruct, hmm? Seems simple to me.
victor| 1.11.10 @ 11:28PM
The libs think that she's so incompetent, she cannot be trusted to blow herself up, so they want to help her out.
Roy| 1.11.10 @ 6:09PM
I'm just frustrated because I want her doing, not talking. Granted to get anything done in politics you have to be good at talking, what I liked about her before was that she was a doer. She actually cut spending and made the people like it, which is something basically nobody else at the time had done. She was getting a pipeline built and all kinds of work done in her state. Her husband being an oil worker was highly symbolic. These were real people who would tell all the Paulsons and Geithners where to stick the idea that we needed our lives run by an all-wise, all-powerful Washington bureaucracy which of course needed to take half our incomes at gunpoint to do it. This was before I knew anything about her family, moose hunting, etc.
Now that's over. Not at all that I won't be glad to see her on Fox, but I wanted to see her saying to yibbering leftist fools and slugs at Fannie Mae that, in the words of Charles Barkley "You can't have my shoes, you can't have my jersey, you can't have the taxpayer's money, you can just get beat, and go home." She, with power, would have said that. I see nobody else on the horizon that would. She's now stuck talking and not doing and I can't say I'm happy about it.
Ken (Old texican)| 1.11.10 @ 6:36PM
Heh! Roy I hear you...loud and clear!
She can't take office right now...rules. Why not explode several million communist heads in the meantime?
Seriously...A lot of Americans are going to have a chance to get to know her. (sigh) most people will NEVER READ her book.
Most Americans will like her as they get to know her.
I'm delighted for her and for us....given that she isn't VP.
Liberal Reader| 1.11.10 @ 6:52PM
What should we expect from Palin at Fox?
Only the uncompromising, hard-hitting, high quality journalism we've grown to expect from Fox News.
What were you thinking?
Palin will no doubt do the hard stories. Her fearless reporting will fulfill the noble calling of journalists everywhere: to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
Ms. Palin will carry on the great traditions of Fox News. She will break the big stories; she will scoop the competitors; she will promote the sort of long-form journalism upon which an informed electorate depends.
Palin's massive erudition, brilliant analytic skills, searching intellect, and her mastery of the language will make her an irreplaceable figure in the world of journalism.
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 7:22PM
Knowledge and a searing intellect alone do not equal wisdom.
Wisdom comes from God. And Sarah knows her God.
Knowing right from wrong and being able to discern how to make the right choices for America is what matters, especially in a leader, something Obama does not possess.
But I just know Liberal Reader will be watching.. won't you?

howdy lib
may I correct a false impression you appear to have concerning Gov Palin's role at FOX .... she is to be a contributor, will give her opinion when asked.... also she will host a series 'Real American Stories', which will run from time to time, not weekly (an ideal match for her IMO)
Margie| 1.11.10 @ 7:17PM
Ken is right. Just think about the exposure she will have.. the entire country will get to know her~~that is absolutely fabulous.
And the best part? After a stint on the show, she can run for President if she wants to.. or whatever she wants. She is one smart lady. I think she's great.
~Congratulations Sarah!

Sarah Palin is definitely a smart lady. And she's a good person with a sense of humor. She has her heart in the right place as far as what America needs. I did vote for her. And I'm not a liberal, but I read other view points.
When I started reading and hearing some of the things she said that were being debunked by anti Republicans, I simply googled "wrong statements by Sarah Palin." Now, as expected, the sources were mostly Democrat origin. However, what am I suppose to think when I see/hear her answer a question or make a comment on a video that isn't correct? It's disappointing that someone I had some hope for would turn out to be just like all the other politicians.
Well, I guess we'll see what happens on the show.
SoCon| 1.11.10 @ 10:01PM
