Over at The Weekly Standard Philip Terzian sees Dodd family history repeating itself on the national stage.

Too bad it wasn’t soon enough to save the good Senator’s sanity.

Too bad it means your party just lost all hope of taking the seat. Dodd did what was best for his party and for his constituents: he kept the seat in Democratic hands.

Smear him all you want, and I'm sure you will. The big story is the GOP just had a seat go from tossup to solid Dem.

Paul: Come back in November and repeat what you just wrote here, and we'll see who's right or wrong. Do you actually think you can really read the minds of the People of Connecticut? I don't think so!! And even in the end, if the Democrats win this seat again, this is still a victory for everybody involved, because, we lose one of the biggest crooks in American politics. Dodd is one of the most powerful, senior members of the Senate, and now, he done. Because he's afraid to face the People of his own State again, because he's a true Chicken Shit. I hope Dodd enjoys his short retirement, and I do mean short, because he's going to die in jail. Do you want to bet on that with me Paul?
So what's Harry Reid going to do for his Party, now that Dodd set the example, and did what's best for his party by retiring. Is old Harry going to fall on the sword too, just to keep that seat in Democratic hands? I can only hope so.

Um, yawn.

Well, okay, congratulations, I guess. I'm glad all your prayers and dreams are being fulfilled by a vessel I previously mistook for a mere human being rather than a Democrat. (I haven't seen Avatar yet, so maybe this will make more sense to me later.) Here's hoping whoever replaces the blustering jackass--oh, the prophesied smear! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!--is the decisive vote on a jobs package that gives you something better to do than trawl for hits on The American Spectator blog.

Congrats Paul William, it's not often that I award superlatives for a post, but your's was easily the most laughable of the week. How in the name of sweet mercy anyone could ever point to something C. Dodd has done and have it labeled a smear is thigh-thumping funny. Well done, boyo.

What I don't get is how Chris Dodd can live with himself. Or any of these Democrats. When you see their faces they look like they're already in the grave.
