The Spectacle Blog

In the latest example of airline security insanity, military blogger Michael Yon reports that he was handcuffed at Seattle-Tacoma Airport for declining to say how much money he earned. Michelle Malkin has the details, along with the case of comedian Joan Rivers being pulled off a plane as a security threat.

I wouldn't answer that either. No American should, and I'd be hard-pressed to figure out why any foreigner should either. And if TSA handcuff me for it, I would not rest until every legal recourse had made them regret birth.

TSA does not handcuff anyone. They have no authority to do that nor are they issued handcuffs. If this was at a screening post, then it was probably DEA agents profiling couriers or if he was going through inspection after an international flight, then he was handcuffed by Customs and Border Protection. Your income is highly relevant to CBP's job as a poor person traveling internationally is highly suspect. Yon is also well known for claiming that his Thai girlfriend is immune from U.S. immigration law.

Yon is probably on the infamous FBI watch list because he blogs about the war and speaks his mind. He doesn't just blog about it though, he is actually on the ground with the troops.
They hate him.

The outrage here is that the target of security should be Foreign/Islamic/Arab young males. They are the ones carrying out every attack, but instead TSA adds names like John Smith's and Joe Jones and leaves off Muhammad Abdul Al-Jihad's name even after Al-Jihad's father calls them and tells them he thinks his son is a terrorist.

Federale has a point though, however, maybe a better question is "why are you traveling to . . .?" and "how did you pay for your ticket?" or "Who paid for your ticket?"
