The Washington Post editorializes that "Iran's political crisis now looks like a battle to the death between the regime and its opposition." With shards of information and video footage, and no active free press to report, it's very difficult to patch together how much danger the regime is in. But the one thing that has to be seen as encouraging to those who want regime change in Iran is that the nationwide protests that broke out after June's election were not simply a one off event that was quelled with a single crackdown. Demonstrations have continued on and off for months, with varying degrees of energy, and events have once again reached a boiling point. You can watch a round up of videos from Iran's Ashura holiday protests on Sunday -- many graphic -- here.

Mr Klein, thanks for the post.

From the comments at Si Vis Pacem: BGF: "This administration doesn't want the Iranian Freedom Fighters to win. That will energize those of us who believe in freedom and limited government even more."

On the one hand, the Post gives the Administration credit for having "publicly taken sides" - but then again, the Administrations suffers both credibility and motivational gaps.

Humm, I wonder if Israel is helping the freedom fighters.

Maybe that is what this business is about in Israel calling its entire government ministers home from around the globe. I initially thought it was to plan an attack on Iran.

Or would Israel want to attack the regime now to further weaken it to help the freedom fighters overthrow of the Iranian regime?

Whatever, I pray for the courageous people of Iran. Imagine what a boon that would be in the war on terror if another Middle Eastern country becomes a beacon for democratic freedom.

God bless them.
