Sen. Bernie Sanders has just withdrawn his single-payer amendment
after Sen. Tom Coburn forced the reading of the 767-page measure.
Senate clerks had spent nearly three hours reading the provision,
and they were unlikely to finish until well after midnight.
Sanders withdrew the amendment to stop the reading.
Sen. Sanders is now making the case for single-payer on the
Senate floor.
According
to the Hill's Jeffrey Young, Sanders told reporters
that he was not yet on board in supporting a bill without a
public option, and that he was in talks with Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid and the White House.
