Don’t miss our Jeff Lord’s lead op-ed in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer on Gov. Ed Rendell’s largesse toward the city he previously served as mayor and continues to serve evidently as Philadelphia mayor-at-large. It’s not exactly a strategy that will help the Democrats in what promises to be a difficult year next year for their party. I’m told the print edition includes a cartoon of Rendell as an eight-armed Hindu God Shiva sitting crosslegged atop the state capitol dome, in each hand a bag of cash for Pennsylvania cities, but the bag for Philly is enormous. No wonder the City of Brotherly Love is perpetually broke.
