For those who were tempted to buy EPA administrator Lisa Jackson's implausible denial that the risible CO2 "endangerment" finding had anything to do with getting a nice reception at the Copenhagen "Kyoto II" talks and posturing in the face of their embarassing ability to force cap-n-trade through Congress in time, take a look at her agency-wide email sent today, excerpted in pertinent part:

"MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT:    A Week to Remember

FROM: Administrator Lisa P. Jackson

TO:         All EPA Employees

Colleagues:

This week we made history.

On Monday, I signed the finalized endangerment finding on greenhouse gases, a decision that has been years in the making.  The long-overdue finding cements 2009's place in history as the year when our government - and our agency - truly began addressing the challenge of greenhouse gas pollution and seizing the opportunities of clean energy reform....

Our actions also send a clear message to the global community that the United States - with EPA leading the way - is committed to acting on the greatest environmental challenge of our time.

That message to our global partners was absolutely critical this week in my talks at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. I can't tell you how proud I was to represent the United States and all of us here at EPA in the meetings I attended.  The world is watching - and they are excited about the hard work you are doing..."

This is fairly typical Obama administration sniveling and dissembling: Don't blame us it was in the works since our reckless predecessor but oh this marks the first time our government ever showed responsibility. It had nothing to do with Copenhagen posturing and what a great thing for us to do as Copenhagen began the Euros really dug it.

I read the memo as a standard “pat on the back” from the head Coo-Coo in Cloud Coo-Coo land.

Do note she considers the other Global Warming nutcases her “global partners”.
Note, she considers her partners to be of far more importance than american citizens.
In fact the citizen interests were not a concern.

"seizing the opportunities of clean energy reform.... "

Odd choice of language. Let me translate.

"...allowing us to fabricate an entire industry based on non-commercially viable technologies, effectively redistributing wealth from the American taxpayer to Al Gore and his buddies..."

If they could get every human in the world to hold their breath collective breath for one minute a day. The resulting reduction in CO2 would be very meaningful. I have the data prove it and can easily delete it if anyone would like to see it.

The irrationality of anti-science prejudice on the right is appalling and stupid and almost incredible.

Where do you people get your news?

It's amazing you live in a place with electricity and even computers.

Since the 19th century there's been an understanding of the greenhouse effect. There's NO debate about it.

For decades -- since the 1950s -- scientists have known that some level of increase in CO2 in the atmosphere could lead to global warming,

Global temperatures ARE rising. Again, there's absolutely NO scientific debate on this question. There are complex issues about how exactly to measure the temperatures; it is very difficult to know with great certainty the temperatures of more than 100 years ago, but it's possible.

Now, scientists DO debate a) tipping points; b) the extent human civilization with be effected by global warming; c) whether changing behavior now can alter the climate. But NO SCIENTISTS, anyway, on earth, at all, debate the basic fundamentals of AGW.

Ret. Marine| 12.13.09 @ 7:14AM

Just how arrogant does one have to be to believe man has any affect on the going's on with the earth, it's climate changes and the sun's solar cycles.
You may sound as though you know what you are talking about, me, I'm going to leave it up to God to decide who's the most arrogant of them all.

Liberal Reader| 12.13.09 @ 10:35AM

Well.. Acid rain was once a terrible environmental problem, killing trees all over the country.

Apparently, God decided he wasn't going to clean up our mess. We had to do it ourselves. So, we passed laws, behaved differently, and radically cut the acid rain levels in under a decade.

We're going to do the same thing with greenhouse emissions.

tailgunner| 12.13.09 @ 8:56AM

Yes, there IS debate about 'greenhouse gases'.

Global temperatures are NOT rising.

On the contrary, for the last decade the earth has been COOLING. This despite a steady rise in CO2.

There is PLENTY of scientific debate. That's why Phil Jones and his coconspirators had to blacklist scientific journals who publish dissenting views on AGW to preserve the illusion of consensus.

"There are complex issues about how exactly to measure the temperatures..."

The real problem for AGW cultists is how to conceal data, such as the 'Medieval Warm Period' that undermines their claim that we are in the worst warming period in history, and how to manipulate current data to create a sharp rise in global temperatures which vanishes when the raw data is used.

"But NO SCIENTISTS, anyway, on earth, at all, debate the basic fundamentals of AGW. "

Absolutely FALSE, as is every other talking point you spout in your post. Thousands of scientists have signed letters and published papers disputing AGW.

The best I can say about you is that you have no idea of what you're talking about.

Liberal Reader| 12.13.09 @ 10:39AM

Gunner --
There is NO debate about the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect has been the standard explanation for why the surface of the Earth is warm enough to sustain life for over 200 years. That CO2 traps heat is a long known principle of thermodynamics, and it wasn't long before people began to wonder if a thicker blanket would create more warmth. Scientists hypothesized this in the 1950s. In subsequent decades, they tested it repeatedly, and now, in the 21st C. it's all but certain. (Which is as certain as science can be on anything.)

The science on global warming is not certain, of course. No science ever is.

But it is AS certain as the science that says smoking causes lung cancer.

Liberal Reader| 12.12.09 @ 10:53PM

And no, the fact that scientist do NOT debate AGW does NOT mean that scientists are fudging the facts.

Here are some other things scientists no longer debate:

The rotation of the EARTH around the SUN.

The existence of more than FOUR elements.

The fact that falling objects more progressively faster because of GRAVITY and NOT because the spirit inside them becomes gradually more joyful to be arriving at its destination.

A human being's personality is NOT determined by the alignment of the planets at the hour of his birth.

tailgunner| 12.13.09 @ 8:59AM

You couldn't be any more ignorant if you were being PAID for it.

martin j smith| 12.13.09 @ 8:02AM

Keep pouring on information about the "hacked" or released e-mails--the more information and continuous this stream becomes the more difficult it is to ignore it. This is crucial. Publish the truth in the reverse of the "Big Lie" of the left.
Oh and one other separate issue: Watch out for trolls. They are nothing more than disrupters and not interested in anything else.

Tenn Slim| 12.13.09 @ 8:43AM

Opine
Another memo Aesopian Speak. What we have to concern our fate with, is the CO2 and other gases endangerment push. This Pandoras box is now open. We will see, in 2010, the best effort of the Left to IMMEDIATELY EFFECT command and control operations, the like of which Senator Reid with his pathetic HC efforts can bow down to.
Folks, the COngress now is totally irrelevant. Out of the picture. When a SINGLE agency can blatantly, w/o criticism, w/o oversight, w/o a citizen out cry, impose draconian measures on the productivity of the USA, we are seeing the middle part of the Leftisit Iceberg, the tip having been in sight since November 08.
Folks, tighten your Fiscal seat belts, hide the kids, the dog and the cat, we are defintely in for it.

Subject: THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER Two Different Versions…. Two Different Morals

——————————————————————————– OLD VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

——————————————————————————– MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green.’

ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, We shall overcome. Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

Andy Stern and SEIU, SUE the Ant, and with the support of Eric Holder Set a Court date for The ant and He is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of SEIU UNION GREEN BUGS and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ants food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again?

Tune in Next November to Read Results of Search for the Ant.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders From MEXIKALIFORNICA who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

Van Jones Protest’s, Demanding More Reparations for those they just released from Prison as they are the true patriot's and deserve Justice.

President Obama, gives in and Gives them their JUST Redistribution for Reparations of Cruelty to Spiders, and Unlawfull breaking up of thier Web.

Slug’s, Wasp’s and Cockroaches Campaign Committee (SW-CCC) are Putting pressure to Sue for Equal Protection Under the Law on Eric Holder, for "THEIR RIGHTS" and Anyone who Stands up Against them, "Will Be Tried for Hate Crimes against them" with the help of the ACLU!

Scientists Demand that they, along with Al Gore, are the Arbitrators of the Real World, and they Will Stand by the UN and EU for the Treaty to End the "EVIL" - Western Civilization Monopoly on their Foolish Rejection of the King's Rights to Manipulate HIS Sovereignty. HA, HA.....With a Stupid piece of Paper?
They Call the "CONSTITUTION"?

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote.
"WE THE PEOPLE" Sure as Hell, WILL in 2010.

—————————–
I’ve sent this to you because I believe that you are an ant not a grasshopper!

Make sure that you pass this on to other ants. Don’t bother sending it on to any grasshoppers because they wouldn’t understand it, anyway.

What the Left hates: The fact that God is actually in control of the planet, and they can't do a thing about it.

Liberal Reader| 12.13.09 @ 4:47PM

No, Margie.

God has turned over control of the planet to human beings. He won't clean up our mess for us. We make choices and suffer the consequences. He gave us FREE WILL.

When human beings drop bombs, they explode. God doesn't reach down and save children from having their flesh burned off their bodies, and any suggestion that he does is foolish and patently false.

Environmental destruction betrays our role as stewards of the planet, as well as compromising our own prosperity and security.

Waiting for God to solve problems like this is just as foolish as hoping UFOs will come down and save us from ourself.
