I think the Alarmists can thank thier stars that these emails weren't purloined in 2005 instead of 2009. If the GOP was still running the Senate there certainly would be a long and open investigation into the operations of people like Doctors Mann, Hansen, Trennbeth et als, or into anyone or any one organization that used taxpayers money to provide the IPCC with material that proved AGW. From the little I gleamed from Phil Jones emails, it is obvious that he at the very least advised many people on this side of the Atlantic to commit fraud. Whether they did so remains questionable. But taking what we know of Mann's "Nature Trick", there is enough evidence to supeona everything they did going back to the 1990s. Conspiring to keep hide date from FOI is bad enough; providing fraudulent data to Congress is a felony. And just ask Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds what happens when one lies to Congress.

Mann never gave testimony to Congress, but he did provide deposition material via MBH9x. If any of MBH9x contained the now infamous spliced temperature readings into the proxy records, and that material was presented to Congress, Mann could be in trouble. But with Reid and Pelosi running Congress, it is doubtfull that they will do anything.

Darn it, People!

I am delighted that someone hacked or blew the whistle here, BUT!
Please don't waste time being drawn into the wrong arguments.
The only real battlefield to secure here is that of "international tyranny" as opposed to "US sovereignty"...or to put a point on it...your personal sovereignty.
I wish one of the fine contributors here would help me list the "kitchen table" effects of this hoax on every American.
The communists now simply wear Green. Get used to it. Recognize them for who they are.

Call my a conspiracy theorist. I'm not sure the goal of the leaked emails yet but I'm leaning toward them being faked to disprove the hysterical "deniers" for jumping all over this "non story" or they are preparing for something else. Perhaps they let this out because their real fraud was a little to close to being exposed. Or, perhaps they will magically find the REAL numbers that actually prove global warming is even worse than any one could have managed. What better way for them to gain even more credibility than being able to say a-la ACORN's Bertha Lewis, "We've done an internal investigation and found new improved numbers that show a 600 foot sea level rise and polar bears are eating penguins to survive." I'm not saying it will work. There's too much money on the line for these people to go away.

The MSM are burying this story, the IPCC will get a pass on this scandal and the majority of the public will think there was never much in it.
