Today I like to watch The Young And The Restless.

I loved watching Vince Young play for the Texas Longhorns, and I still think he's one of the most talented athletes I've ever seen.
Perhaps that's been hsi problem i nthe NFL. He's always been so talented that he never needed to read defenses, or calmly look for secondary receivers- he could just take off running, and score on his own.
That actually worked in his rookie season in the NFL, but defenses eventually got smart. They contained him in the pocket and dared him to beat them with his throwing arm. When they did that, Vince got frustrated and sometimes made terrible decisions.
He could still be a star, but he's got to hit the books, watch a lot of film, and master the complexiites of a modern NFL offense. If he's learned something from his exile, the Titans will be better off with him under center. I worry, however, that he hasn't learned anything, and has spent his time seething with resentment, rather than working to get better.

Talented athlete, not an NFL caliber QB.
"What I think we have here is a bit of social concern..."
The Titans will go nowhere with Young, which is sad, because the rest of the team is pretty solid right now and they may waste their window. The Steelers wasted 2-3 Super Bowl caliber teams by starting Kordell Stewart for so long. Insert Ben (or any competent pocket passer), almost instant Super Bowl(s).

Vince Young is getting his "one last shot at redemption" as I put it in my blog. I'm certainly not convinced he's got what it takes to be a consistently good starting QB in the NFL. It's not only physically that he's not making plays, it's mentally. And it's not just on the field he's struggling, it's off the field too.
QB's have to have about the sharpest mind on the team - both on and off the field. He obviously has the physical skills, but this season will show us whether or not he has what it takes to rally the troops a little bit and turn this thing around.
Can he lead? Can he be a consistently good passer? Can he take the scrutiny when things don't go well? Because sometimes they simply won't.
He'll have 10 games to prove to everyone that's he got what it takes - because it's his fourth year in the league and he's not going to get many more chances. Most teams figure if you don't have it by now, you probably never will. I hope he does well, but I wouldn't want to bet one way or the other.
