Obviously, the president doesn't get it.  He keeps proposing more spending.  Now it is more money for seniors since inflation is down so there's no COLA increase for Social Security.

Reports the Washington Post:

President Obama on Wednesday attempted to preempt the announcement that Social Security recipients will not get an increase in their benefit checks for the first time in three decades, encouraging Congress to provide a one-time payment of $250 to help seniors and disabled Americans weather the recession.

Uncle Sam ran a $1.4 trillion deficit in FY2009.  Just where is the money for a new payment going to come from?  Heck, there's no reason to stop with retirees.  Why not just give everyone in America a million dollars?  That should solve all of our problems.

Chicago style. He is just showing them that he can play hardball if they don't line up behind socialized medicine. I think he is underestimating a great generation. I'd like to see Florida go red in 2012 - the current ruling class has shown nothing but disdain for jews and the elderly.

Oldefarte| 10.17.09 @ 11:37AM

Us SENIORS are smart enough to know that this $250 is noting more than a 'Chicago-Way' attempted BRIBE to possibly influence our acceptance of his outrageous healthcare proposal. It ain't gonna work, Barry! You and your fellow socialists Democrats will witness our rath beginning with next year's elections!!!!!

USA aint broke...the bottomless bank lender that is china will be borrowed from until they refuse to lend - then they will have to forclose only to find the USA will not pay.

That is the US Government's economic plan for the next fifty years.

Its not as if there isnt money though...Wealth creation works like this: Lunar Government (aka foreign state) borrows 2 billion-billion dollars US from the USA. Money doesnt exist but by borrowing it they create it. Lunar state then spends that 2 billion-billion in the USA on Colonization of the Moon by 10 million Lunar Citizens over the next hundred years financing the upgrade of a single US city as a maximum security training facility and space launch support centre - with free medical, schooling for all collonists and their support staff (about 10 million us citizens). Purchase of all US patents and technology support assets to support colonization.

To pay back its debt to the USA it must sell all its Earthly and Lunar resources to the Government of Mars to Support Martian Colonization...get the picture on how economics works?

Very interesting! But this is how our real economy works: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/220760

I loved your analogy. You forgot the not so minor condition of Chinese troops of our soil make sure the US populace lives up to the terms of the financial agreements. The only way a heavily indebted nation can pay back a lender nation is the transfer of natural resources, land and/or the work product of the populace. Anyone care to be a Chinese slave to support the Washington Elite's spending practices.

Obama knows there is not any money and he is doing what he intended to do which is drive the US to an enormous crisis. He convinces all these people that they have rights to free healthcare, free housing, free cars, free everything. When the US does not give it to them anymore, they go nuts and demand the government take all the money the rich has to provide those things. Obama model is what Hugo did in Venezula. There are now enough people getting things and paying no taxes that he has a majority.

Eric Cartman| 10.18.09 @ 2:32AM

Hey, Obama! We're broke! There, that aught a do it! If not, he should watch the best explanation so far on what happened to our economy: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/220760

Of course, we wouldn't be having problems like this if Sarah Palin was Vice-President of the United States today.

Oops, I plum forgot. Leftwing Libertarians like Bandow decided to viciously attack McCain/Palin and everyone associated with the "evil" Bush Republican Party in 2007/08, thereby weakening our GOP coalition, and delivering a huge Democrat/Socialist victory.

Looking for someone to blame for all this mess?

Look no further than the author of this article himself: Doug "I'm a Lefty posing now as a Rightwinger" Bandow.

Daisy| 10.18.09 @ 11:36AM

Eric, I know you'd like to blame McCain's loss on Bandow, but, "The people get the government they deserve." Thomas Jefferson

Americans wanted snake oil and flimflam in 2008--and we got it.

Besides, McCain was a poor candidate.

Doug Bandow| 10.18.09 @ 3:12PM

Eric--Has anyone told you how cute you sound when you screech in your Trotskyite-sectarian way?

philfl63| 10.18.09 @ 8:09PM

Unfortunately none of us white folk seem to understand the mind of a Negro who has never had to work for a living and has been an affirmative-action welfare case his whole life. Money to this guy is something he deserves for just breathing, but that is his money and not one penny would he allow anyone to touch. Money that is to be spent for welfare, cronyism, political corruption etc. is money that is to be provided by us evil white folk.

'Yes', the Cart can be used for subscriptions.

Majority of our merchants' buyers are actually international. Sadly, not a lot of local users are accustomed to buying things online.
It does not include a website (although we also offer that service separately). You can get any 3rd party to do the website and we will just integrate with them.
