The Tennesse Titans have fallen to 0-5. Realistically, they would
probably need to win out to make the playoffs even via a wildcard
berth. Their best case scenario is to lose only three more to
limp to 8-8. They next play a New England Patriots team that has
been rusty and uneven, but is better than some of the teams that
have beaten Tennesse. (I'd argue that they are better than some
of the teams that have beaten New England, but that's another
argument for another day.)
So this is going to end up being a rebuilding season fairly soon.
So the question is: Do you bench Kerry Collins, put in Vince
Young, and see whether he can do anything? See if he can light a
spark? See if there is even any value to keeping him on the
roster? Or do you let Collins the pocket passer soldier on,
ending the season with dignity, especially since Young hasn't
exactly covered himself in glory of late?
Young is definitely a huge risk. But if the Titans fall to 0-6,
there's not much left to lose.
