Hilariously, Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Previous winners include Kofi Annan (2001), Jimmy Carter (2002), and Al Gore (2007); the gag in my headline (swiped from PJ Doland) isn't really much of a gag. The Peace Prize is quite often nothing more than the vehicle through which the mandarins of transnational progressivism express their support for opponents of American hegemony in general and Bush in particular.

If Obama doesn't turn down the prize, as several commentators are urging, the signal will be that the American president is perfectly happy being a Carter-like posterboy for American weakness.

What a sham. A man who is waging three wars at once gets a "Peace Prize". Jesus wept.

The Nobel committee has outdone itself.
Bravo! Bravo! Way to underscore your total irrelevance.
Next year’s prize will be inserted in to a box of Cracker Jacks and lucky winner will be given a special number to call to announce their identity and their contribution to world peace

All that apologizing finally paid off.

I actually thought he deserved a Nobel Prize for Mathematics. After all, who else but Obama could concoct a trillion dollar healthcare plan that reduces the deficit?

Deborah D| 10.9.09 @ 9:59AM

It should be called the Nobel Prize for Anti-Americanism. Just go around the world bashing your own country, and abracadabra...Here's your statue and a bunch of money. Maybe with all of that dough he'll just retire from the presidency of the country he hates.

COnservative Bob, at this rate, it will actually come down to a raffle... $5 gets you 3 tickets... This award has become quite depressing... I've lost respect for it.

If one is looking for a silver lining in all this let it be tgis: There is recognition that Obama and the left here are in trouble so they need a prize to propup our dear leader. I do not think it will wash because of unemployment, the deficit, the falling dollar,Obama Care, failure in foreign policy
and because Obama has overexposed himself. Finally because I strong suspect and hope that people can figure out that this nothing but a trick.

Pls reply if you are!

I for one find President Obama's prize a very encouraging turn of events. Think about it--Gore, Carter, Obama...each man won for NOT being George W. Bush.

Why is this a positive turn? I ALSO am not George W. Bush, and so my chances of winning the Nobel Prize have never been better. It is just a matter of time before my number comes up!

I laughed out loud at your blog title. Thanks.

I needed a laugh. I have been over to American Thinker the last couple of days while our essayists here have just sorta' been passing the time with very thin soup.
Have you read the international slant articles there the last couple of days?
(rope burns on my cheeks)
