President Obama has admitted he doesn’t believe he deserves the
Nobel Peace Prize that
some glögg-saturated Norwegian political
hacks awarded to him earlier today, but that doesn’t
mean he won’t use it to push his socialist agenda.
In fact, he served notice today that that is exactly what he
intends to do.
Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National
Committee, sent out this email today signed by the president:
This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and
humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I’d been
awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.
To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company
of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by
this prize — men and women who’ve inspired me and inspired the
entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.
But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize
has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it’s also
been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.
That is why I’ve said that I will accept this award as a call
to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront
the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges
won’t all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But
I know these challenges can be met so long as it’s recognized
that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.
This award — and the call to action that comes with it — does
not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all
people around the world who have fought for justice and for
peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of
America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make
our world a little better.
So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we’ve
begun together. I’m grateful that you’ve stood with me thus
far, and I’m honored to continue our vital work in the years to
come.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama
Paid for by Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic
National Committee — 430 South Capitol Street SE, Washington,
D.C. 20003. This communication is not authorized by any
candidate or candidate’s committee.

I know it's a crock of crap but if he actually believed what "he" wrote and was willing to work towards a goal of peace without caving to his self-love I think this could be a good thing.
Liberal Reader| 10.10.09 @ 12:27AM
Only what Mr Vadum says isn't true.
Obama is NOT a socialist. He's liberal, but certainly not the most liberal president we've had since -- say -- WWII.
Socialist?
Mr. Vadum. Did you study political philosophy at any time in your life? Do you know what a socialist is?
This Nobel Prize is -- granted -- a little silly. It's an anti-Bush referendum held by the European intelligentsia. O.K. Fine. I urge you and your friends to poke some fun at this.
But socialist agendas?
Please. You must not take your readers very seriously.
Warrior | 10.10.09 @ 9:36AM
Okay why is the definition socialist so off? George Bush had too many socialist tendencies for my liking and Obama is way left of W who at best is "Democrat Lite"
Socialism:
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
Liberal Reader| 10.10.09 @ 12:00PM
Warrior --
These definitions (while hardly exhaustive) are sufficient to make the point.
Obama hardly believes in the Marxist definition (#3). (Just so you know, Marxists don't even believe in the Marxist definition anymore.)
So that leaves #1. How has Obama attempted to seize the means of production on behalf of the people?
And don't say he fired someone at GM. I'm sorry: that's just not good enough.
He's advocated a "public option" on health care, but said he would sign a bill without it; he's bailed out banks so they could go on being BANKS (you know, banks? the agents of capitalism?).
Socialism is a word with an actual definition, Warrior. You've been fooled by thinking those who call Democrats "socialists" into taking this epithet literally.
SoCon| 10.10.09 @ 11:42PM
Silly, LibReader; Obama's a Marxist--you should be proud.
Democrat/ Liberal/ Socialist/Communist: Look the same to me.
Liberal Reader| 10.11.09 @ 12:20AM
SoCon
The only reason these things "look the same to" you is that you don't know what they are.
If you were to LEARN about these different terms you'd know they have different meanings.
Learning to distinguish one thing from another is a big part of education, SoCon. Give it a try.
SoCon| 10.11.09 @ 10:05PM
You're a Marxist, LibReader; that's the truth. Give it a try, moron.
Truth Hurts| 10.10.09 @ 1:22AM
Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.
Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronising in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.
News Flash| 10.10.09 @ 1:23AM
New Flash! The prize is a preposterous joke that does not serve the cause of peace or freedom. Lest we forget they have recently been giving the prize to such humanitarians as Yasser Arafat and the anti-Semites like Jimmy Carter. It has become nothing more than political propaganda for leftist causes and fantasies.
Devalued Award| 10.10.09 @ 1:26AM
Obama is the product of the corrupt Chicago Democratic Party machine, a former community organizer for Acorn, a corrupt organization involved in vote rigging, criminal activities and prostitution. His appointed political Czars are men from the extreme Left, who have espoused hatred and bigotry against the very country that nurtured them. Obama was called a liar during his health address to Congress when a Republican correctly challenged him over Obama's claim that he would exclude illegal immigrants from his healthcare provisions. He won't. The proof was in the latest draft bill before Congress. Shall I go on...? The man is an articulate mouthpiece for a very dangerous philosophy. We call it Marxism, and it is not the platform he was elected on by the American people.
John the Baptist| 10.10.09 @ 1:32AM
I feel we are living in the End Times and Obama is the Antichrist. Revelations spoke of a charismatic leader who would rise up from nowhere and deceive the whole world, before delivering in the Apocalypse!
Liberal Reader| 10.10.09 @ 5:22PM
You're joking, right John?
I mean, you really must be joking.
Revelations also spoke of a dragon who vomitted a flood that overwhelmed the desert. Is that Harry Reid?
What principles of exegesis are you applying here?
Is it just voices in your head who help you figure out the meaning of Revelations, or do you have a decoder ring?
Scripture Keeper| 10.11.09 @ 3:17AM
It's Revelation, not Revelations. "The Holy Revelation of John the Devine."
If you don't even know this, than don't pretend to be some Bible scholar here, Ms. Reader.
Liberal Reader| 10.11.09 @ 12:22PM
I did not pretend to BE a Bible scholar, you dipshit.
I protested that one of your fellows here -- or perhaps it was you -- pretended to be able to IDENTIFY one of the obscure figures of that book in the headline news!
The arrogance of you people is so completely repugnant to me.
And its D-I-V-I-N-E, not "Devine," you jerk.
Patriot| 10.10.09 @ 11:46PM

This is a Disney-world political production, right ?

Wow, golly, shazam----what a shock! The only question now is WILL HE REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE MONETARY AWARD that comes with the prize? My guess is ABSOLUTE NOT----he'll either use same to buy some more basketball shoes or possibly donate same to Acorn's depleted coffers [since the American taxpayers are no longer funding (supposedly) that corrupt organization]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim O'Brien| 10.10.09 @ 8:17PM
A Boy Scout merit badge has far more significance than a Nobel peace prize. By the way, Sir Ted Kennedy may soon receive a Nobel Prize for Safe Driving.
Rick V.| 10.11.09 @ 10:08AM
Well, this is a tuffy. A wartime president who hates the American military and has now been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, all at a time when he's seeking to reassure homosexuals that he will set them free. Here's an idea: re-institute the draft, draft 50,000 homosexual men and send to the Afhgan front under the leadership of newly-commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Jennings. You go, girl!
Liberal Reader| 10.11.09 @ 12:18PM
I have to admit, Rick, that this is pretty funny.
I don't agree that Obama "hates the military," however, and I refuse to let it stand. There is no reason to believe this is true.
I don't know why people on the right have such a problem with homosexuals who acknowledge they are homosexuals.
You tend to go with the closeted bathroom freaks, like Craig and -- and you know this is true -- Glenn Beck.
And how many of you -- be truthful now -- how many of you did NOT, if only for a second, think Tom DeLay was a little light in those loafers.
Be truthful!
Margie| 10.11.09 @ 4:25PM
LibReader says:
"You tend to go with the closeted bathroom freaks, like Craig and -- and you know this is true -- Glenn Beck."
Do you really want to be found by Him on that Day lying? It is an out and out lie what you say, LibRead, and why do you insist? He resigned, and that is what he ought to have done. We do not prefer this.
Margie| 10.11.09 @ 4:27PM
Oh, and now you are also accusing Glenn Beck of this behavior? Obviously your own morality is in question to all who read what you claim here.
Want to cut it out now?
Rick V.| 10.12.09 @ 12:43PM
LibReader,
You're right, I stand corrected. Obama just hates the country our military defends - namely, America. Like you. And our military is defending you as well. How ironic.
Margie| 10.11.09 @ 2:02PM
Right. And where was Obama during the 9/12 march on Washington? Somehow he wasn't listening, was he? It is so clear that this man is a stone cold anti American who is Hell bent on ruining our once great republic.
~~Vote the Socialist out in 2012!~~
Margie| 10.11.09 @ 1:59PM
Truth~The "Right" abhores homosexuality because God abhors it. "Funny" how LibRead recommends a certain version of the Bible yet cannot agree with it. Unless of course she haven't read it at all. You cannot serve God and the Devil, according to the Bible. Honesty? I think LibRead ought to try being honest for once and quit calling all of us untruthful and twisting our intentions and our comments.
Liberal Reader| 10.11.09 @ 5:39PM
In the entire Bible, homosexuality is alluded to no more than THREE times.
Sometimes, we need to gain some kind of PERSPECTIVE on these matters: reading the Bible requires judgment and reason.
Based on the amount of weight put on the topics by the Bible itself, you should be spending abou 2,000 times more energy aiding the poor and the oprressed than you do worrying about homosexuality.
Can you say that of your reactionary movement?

Margie.........THANK YOU!
You just keep hangin' in there with the truth.
I do believe John McCain is an honorable man...just stupid....or perhaps broken by his life.
He thinks he can do business with these country destroyers. He is wrong.
Lib reader is either a paid mole...or completely stupid and childish.
Toddard is stupider (smile).
Martin,
thank you for a voice of reason, though I am very afraid reason will be left behind soon in our country.
The stupids combined with the oath-breaker traitors look as if they are bringing us to the precipice of civil war.
We productive members of our society must hope we "can throw the bums out" in 2010 and cripple the oath-breakers through 2012, and then repeal all the crap they are using to destroy us.
I also fear what happens if we cannot throw the bums out in 2010. I fear it will be war to the knife, Martin, and the stupids will be asking themselves what happened.
The problem is that the traitors know that as well, and we must anticipate all of the things they can do to stay in power. Please, start thinking ahead a year or two. TEAM AMERICA is all about thinking ahead and trying to win this war with votes, (properly counted). We are also trying to identify genuine free-market conservatives to elect to congress if elections are allowed in 2010.
Margie, God bless!
Martin, Thank you
Rick, thank you

Lib Reader, you exhibit all of the faults of modern-day liberalism. You are arrogant. You are smug in your belief that your thoughts are superior to others. You think you're better educated than everybody else. Finally, when your arrogance and bs can't get anybody to yield to your superior intellect, you call people names.
Liberal Reader| 10.11.09 @ 5:42PM
And you, Dollface, exhibit many of the faults of modern day reactionary know-nothingism.
You are ignorant. You are brazenly proud of your ignorance; you believe ignorance is a badge of authenticity. You resent the educated. Finally, when someone challenges you to EXPLAIN your reasoning, something right wing radio has not prepared you to do, you simply start name-calling, or recite a bunch of bullshit you heard on the Glenn Beck show.
dollface| 10.11.09 @ 5:59PM
Lib
In order to explain something, you have to have a listener who is intelligent enough to understand what you have to say. Its obvious that your idea of debate is to out shout the other side and resort to name calling. BTW, I don't have time to listen to Glenn Beck. Obviously you do.
SoCon| 10.11.09 @ 10:10PM

Who is this man that the world praises and applaudes? Is there not enough proof in the weather alone to show that Al Gore is a shyster? And he has received the same prize? The validity of that prize is shaken. We ask ourselves how we can stand against this new earthly Messiah? Look to the fruit the tree produces, and this late Nobel Prize recipient has produced nothing!! Yet the world praises him? Adhere to your faith and beliefs. Only then can we stand in front of the coming storm.
mejamom55| 10.12.09 @ 7:26AM
Mr. Vadum,
I read (several times) the email signed by Obama that you quoted and I fail to understand how that proves he is planning to use the prize to push his socialist agenda. You think he is because you don't like the man. But it's sloppy reporting to make an accusation and not have the facts to back it up.
I don't exactly understand why he won that prize. Were there nominees?
Mainly, I think it's too early to suppose that he is worthy of such a prize. But I also think it's too early to suppose he won't live up to it.
And to so many of the commenters, do you have to resort to name calling all the time? The liberals say the conservatives do it, but they're just as bad. And as far as Glenn Beck is concerned, he needs to be sensitve to his viewers who only get their news from his show. I've found him, as well as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to be wrong on some major issues. The listeners/viewers of theirs who don't check their sources take what they say as truth, spread it around and we have all this ignorance. Politicians lie, I expect that. But when someome (like Beck, etc.) sets themselves up as proclaimers of the truth, they shouldn't lie.
Those commentators should be ashamed. I have to lump them in with Michael Moore now. Why spoil a good consiracy with facts? Make money on the ignorance of hard working Americans who look for the truth.
BTW, Mr. Vadum, did I miss it or have you yet to retract that Patrick Gaspard worked for ACORN when he did not?
Grzmlyk| 10.12.09 @ 10:23AM
OOOOOHHH, Lib Reader Wants SO BADLY to be taken seriously as an intellectual - and then when somebody hurts his feelings he invariably reverts to the puerile, name-calling pretender he is.
You are a transparent phony, Lib reader. All the wanting in the world ain't gonna make you a thinker. Just because you try on an intellectual's clothes doesn't mean they fit; you are a child traipsing around in Daddy's Big Shoes, hanging around this site like a pathetic dog with no owner waiting to be patted by SOMEONE.
You are, at best, a True Believer who is practiced at regurgitation. You mind is as common as dirt, and just as intellectually inconsequential.
Begone.
