According to the rules of the Nobel
Prize nomination,
a candidate receives an invitation for submission as a Nobel
Peace candidate in September of the previous
year, and must respond by the 1st of the
subsequent February. That’s right, in September of 2008,
when nobody had even voted for the current President, Mr. Obama
was under the illusion that he was qualified for a Nobel Peace
Prize based on a few years as a community organizer, a little
time in the Illinois legislature, an incomplete term in the
United States’ Senate, and a couple of books about his favorite
topic — himself.
By the February 1, 2009 deadline
for submissions, before Mr. Obama had even stepped into
office, he was no more surprised or humbled then than
he is on this ignoble day.
This display is truly the antithesis of humility.
Now we know why he’s been waiting so long to determine how
to protect our troops in Afghanistan. Or is it too audacious
to suggest such a thought?

"Now we know why he's been waiting so long to determine how to protect our troops in Afghanistan"
We already know how: pull them out of it.

Too bad our ol buddies the Russkies didn't pull out from Ashcanistan in 1979.

At least obama has them in the right place Bush put troops in harms way to cover up his fathers screw ups...Osama is probly having drinks and supper in the Bush Mansion as we speak...Bush promised to hunt him down and the only one dead is a demented man his father pissed off...At least we are where we should have been 8 years ago!
Wife of Retired USAF Vet who served in Iraq...permantly disabled thanks to the experience given him by our FORMER president

This award has to represent one of the greatest Gnostic moments in history.
What a spectacular bifurcation!

It's not audacious. It's just sleazy and completely unsubstantiated by any evidence.
Not that you should let that bother you.

As if his ego could get any bigger, this is just going to make the coming fall that much worse. Its funny in the respect that it exposes the nobel prize for the irrelevance it is and it is pretty embarrassing for Obama considered he has done nothing. If Afghanistan turns to chaos and Iran goes nuclear without consequence it will be Obama to blame for making the world less peaceful, oh the irony. The American public has become increasingly skeptical of this windbag as evidenced by even Saturday Night Liv e doing skits to point out Obama's failure to accomplish anything other than wreck the economy and try to destroy America's superiority in the world. I would bet SNL may have a record rating night as everyone tunes into see how they make fun of this embarrassment. We are truly living in an upside down world.

Just be glad Toddard isn't potus, we'd all starve equally.

I read the link, and your analysis is incorrect. The "qualified nominators" that get the application can't nominate themselves.
Cris Worth| 10.9.09 @ 4:38PM
Pure Simplicity: the President suffered a loss of prestige with the Olympic debacle and the Liberal Powers that be restored it with the Peace Prize. Conservatives continue to underestimate this man repeating the same mistake liberals made with Reagan. Powerful grass root support sustained both men. Remember Reagan faced a debacle in Lebanon but one week later achieved victory in Grenada quickly restoring his prestige.
Nobama| 10.9.09 @ 6:02PM
That's the difference between Reagan and Obama--Reagan achieved success, it wasn't 'awarded' to him.
Onama's a joke.
Sharon Hatch| 10.9.09 @ 10:45PM
Liberal Americans are only one country that votes on this...come on...a whole world voted for this...not just liberals...and he couldnt nominate himself...he is only notified of the nomination and then notified of the results...
ACynic| 10.9.09 @ 7:01PM
Why the surprise.
He joins Jimmy Carter and Yasser Arafat (a murderer) in this formerly meaningful club.
Hitler and Stalin would have rec'd the Peace Prize for signing the Hitler Stalin pact in 1939 if the left wing useful idiots who run that sick organization today were running the show back then.

The amazing thing is that Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi NEVER won the Nobel Peace Prize....if someone ever deserved it, it would be Gasndhi...
Mike M| 10.9.09 @ 8:13PM
You can bet the ranch our Dear Leader has the 2010 Nobel Prize wrapped up as well.
I can just hear MSNBC (if they still exist a year from now,) "Can Obama make it 3 for 3 in 2011?"
