Re: Communism Above King's

Shawn, considering that the numbers of Christians (exact counts not known, of course) in China have grown exponentially -- regardless of who you ask -- then our friends at King's might be praising the Lord about His work there despite the conditions.

Shawn, considering that the numbers of Christians (exact counts not known, of course) in China have grown exponentially -- regardless of who you ask -- I would suspect our friends at King's might be praising the Lord about His work there despite the conditions, rather than focusing on the government there. God has a way of confounding human wisdom, as persecution and trials often go hand-in-hand with growth in Christianity.

Confounding...that's a good word for a god who can "work" under China's "conditions," who can supposedly influence facts and numbers on the ground there, yet somehow still finds it wise to allow vast numbers of human beings to live their entire mortal lives under a totalitarian thumb, never to fully reach their potential as individuals. And that's without getting into the limitations placed on them by endemic poverty. I wonder what exactly those souls are supposed to learn from such depravations and degradations before departing for that amusement park in the sky?

You're right, in retrospect, though: I would hardly expect such a flaky, partially involved deity to be able to change the lights on the Empire State Building. I'll save my praise, though, for one that actually gets something done.

Shawn, I am sorry for your ignorance.
Genises is all about God giving human kind a choice. God has kept that covenant, and we have in most cases screwed it up. America is a miracle, but in danger of ending.

You poor soul. Jesus had two commandments: 1. Love one another as I have loved you. 2. Remember me when you break bread. (meals to you guys).
Find a better more joyful way to spend a life.
We Christians will continue to pray for you.

I appreciate the sentiment, it's kind in its way, but don't bother with the apologies or prayers. I already have a joyful life, in no small part because I wasn't born in China or any number of other places where god is apparently working hard to "confound" the rest of us by squeezing the joy out of other people's lives. It be working! Praise!

Oh, and the average Chinese individual didn't eat no fruit from no naughty tree in no lala garden, they didn't create the political conditions in the land they born to, and yet your god enforces a collective punishment onto them for a crime that was committed--what?--six thousand years ago. I'd rather worship Kim Jong-Il, if I felt compelled to worship anything, but, thankfully, I don't. Again, joy.
