"And I reiterate that my own view is that the appropriate response here would be to have the Obama administration continue what it began with regard to the Census and withhold any funding or authority from ACORN pending a very serious examination of their past behavior and significant changes regarding the future." [emphasis added]

-from a statement by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), a longtime ACORN ally and current chairman of the House Financial Services Committee

Wow.

I'm shocked that Barney didn't turn tail and take one for the team on this one.

Matt,
Great work and follow-up. One quibble: you misspelled "appwopwiate wesponse."

Tonypal... Please, man. Never again use "Barney" and, er, um, the phrase "turn tail" in one sentence so proximally. Have you no decency?

Angel| 9.23.09 @ 11:10PM

Not sure about Tonypal (no offense, TP)--but you can be sure that Barney has no decency.

This is more than likely a Bait and Switch. ACORN will surface under another name. The Dems are not going to give up this part of their Party.

birmingham| 9.24.09 @ 11:04AM

J. Kelly is exactly right. Under cover of the "lawsuit" against the filmers and BigGovernment.com, the Dems will be scurrying around like cockroaches hit by the light setting up new place to hide and operate from.

20 years from now, we will be reading about scandals and those organizations involved will all be traced back to the ACORN break up of 2009.
