Everyone assumes the big news from Sunday’s TV Barackathon
was the President’s false and condescending statements that there
are no middle class tax increases which fund ObamaCare (proving,
yet again, he hasn’t read the ObamaCare bills). In fact, the
biggest news was made during his interview with CNN wherein he
called his daughter, Malia, by the wrong name, Maya. He then
proceeded to spend the afternoon with buddies on the golf
course.
Maya, Malia …
Whatever

Like everyone else around him, his kids are just tools to be used in his quest for more power. I can't begin to describe my contempt for this clown.
Robyn| 9.21.09 @ 8:51PM
If Obama spent LESS time on the links, talk shows and at cross-country rallies (talk about your carbon footprint!) and MORE time doing his homework, he'd be able to make some of the big decisions (well, maybe) on Afghanistan, Gitmo, health care, the economy, etc. And, of course, remember his kids' names.
Liberal Reader| 9.21.09 @ 8:52PM
Are you joking or are you saying you believe the president doesn't know the names of his children?
See, there'd be room here for poking fun at Obama, if it weren't so difficult to tell when reactionaries are kidding and when they are not.
For example, did you really believe he was trying to brainwash school children last week when he urged them to do their homework ?
Do you believe he plans to set up secret reeducation camps for teenagers?
Like I said, I'd be more flexible about listening to jokes about Obama's mistakes or gaffes, but the "jokes" are so difficult to tell from actual policy critiques.
Pete| 9.21.09 @ 10:17PM
I believe he cares as much about his kids as he does about telling the truth to the American people. You tell me how much that is?
As for your first example, before public outrage forced him to adjust his message, it is well documented that his interactions with schools were going to have a heavy dose of "how can you serve me?" The arrogant ass.
Never heard of the reeducation camps, but it wouldn't surprise me given his intent to essentially force young people to "serve" (assumably him and his social goals) with the promise of gobs of federal (taxpayer) money.
Don't get chippy just because your pipeline of underage latina hookers got shut down. It is only temporary, your messiah will never allow his ACORN buddies to get totally snuffed out - after all, he wants a second term and we all know it can't happen legally.

See, what you've written here is ridiculous. It doesn't matter how liberal or conservative a person is: if they're thinking clearly, they would read what you've written and just be incapable of taking it seriously. You seem to believe that people must necessarily be DEMONS if they hold difficult political ideas from you. It's childish and absolutely ignorant. Do you have any experience in the world of adults? Did you ever go to college?
Here you are entertaining the idea that Obama does not "care" about his own children, combined, naturally, with the notion that he is some kind of pathological liar.
You are willing to give credence to the idea of "reeducation camps," although you claim not to have heard of these things.
Pete, you need to face it: you are a part of a paranoid fringe.
You people will be remembered the way the Birchers are remembered; you'll be one of those footnotes in the history books.
What a fool you are.
Pete| 9.21.09 @ 11:08PM
Written like a true "trucher." I guess we will see how fringe I am come election time.
And as usual, your response fails to address my points.
Is it a stretch to question how much he cares about anything but his own power when he routinely throws former "friends" under the bus when they threaten to undermine his ability to enact his own twisted brand of "change?" In your warped mind perhaps.
No comment on his sudden shift in message to the schools due to public outrage? Probably not. I am sure the million that marched on DC were all fringe too.
Reeducation camps...never heard of them, but his taxpayer funded "volunteerism" drive for young people doesn't concern you? Probably not.
By the way, though I have since happily escaped the hellhole of state where I went to college, CA, which serves as a model for the kind of government induced failure your messiah hopes to impose on us all, I did attend Berkeley. Somehow I escaped with my brain in good working order, which is more than I can say for you as you are clearly the product of public school liberal indoctrination.
Hold on to your arrogant sneer as long as you can, fool. It is all will you will have soon enough.

I'm not going to speculate on how much Obama cares about his children. It is unseemly and really stupid.
Now, what evidence do you have that the substance of Obama's message to school children changed after the flap erupted on cable tv?
What EVIDENCE do you have?
The ONLY thing that changed is that after people complained, the Department of Education decided not to circulate a "lesson plan" that had been circulated by George H W Bush to accompany the speech. Clearly Obama had nothing to do with it, although I'm sure his political advisors got the lesson plan nixed after the hissy fits.
Now, "volunteerism" is something W and H W Bush talked about ALL THE TIME. It was a constant theme of the speeches to young people and the country at large.
Was it wrong when the Bushes asked for volunteers and spoke to schoolchildren, or was there a particular reason -- I wonder, too, what it could be -- why they didn't hear outcries from dignified Berkeley graduates like yourself when they did these things?
Liberal Reader| 9.21.09 @ 11:20PM

A "million" people did NOT march on DC last weekend. See coverage by Fox News, the Washington Times (a conservative newspaper based in DC) and EVERY OTHER news agency that filed a report.
See ALSO stories about the doctored photographs circulated by organizers to dupe jackasses like you into believing their phony claims.
Face Pete: you are a part of a dwindling minority of bigoted, hateful people. YOUR WORLD is FINISHED, pal. Believe me, I know your type. I can hear the dog whistle, too. But before you know it, it's all going to be over for you guys. Republicans won't even want anything to do with your type five or ten years from now.
Pete| 9.21.09 @ 11:34PM
From one of your dying MSM outlets: "Most of the criticism surrounded the Department of Education lesson plan associated with Obama's speech, where students were asked how they could "help the president." The White House changed the language, and then to relieve any doubt of what the president would say, they released a copy of the speech 24 hours beforehand." I know, in your mind, it all depends on what the meaning of "is" is, right?
"The ONLY thing that changed is that after people complained, the Department of Education decided not to circulate a "lesson plan" that had been circulated by George H W Bush to accompany the speech." Who's in the paranoid fringe? That darned Bush again.
Volunteerism for Osama is code for "activism" and you know it. Like his do-gooder ACORN buddies, we'd all be better off with more of those nice folks,eh? Show me some evidence where any Bush asked anyone to "serve" him. Though certainly nothing special, Bush didn't actively seek to weaken the country from without and from within and believed in his role as a REPRESENTATIVE, not ruler, of the American people. He also clearly believed in American exceptionalism, something not evident in the actions of your messiah.

Dying breed indeed. Choke on it. Thanks for the bigoted charge - the most obvious sign of desperation and the first place a good lefty goes when he is losing.
And for the record, I don't care how many were there. It was clearly enough to send a message.

What you are writing is paranoid, fascistic nonsense, and I refuse to dignify it with argument.
George H W Bush accompanied one of his annual speeches to school children with a lesson plan that suggested children write an essay on how they could "help" (not serve, you idiot) the president.
The D o E was going to do the same thing with Obama's speech in the NARROW context of how to develop policies for keeping students in school.
It was a poorly handled idea, given the unbelievably debased level of public discourse.
Nevertheless, there just is NO reason to believe that the president changed the nature of his address to school children.
You will believe what you want; obviously, you are hostile to facts and reason.
I just think it's important that at least one of your fellow citizens tells you the TRUTH: you, is, are in the clutches of paranoid and deranged ideas. But you're a grown man, and you need to take responsibility for yourself. Grow the hell up, man.

Define the term "American exceptionalism." I'd like to hear what you think that term means.
Pete| 9.22.09 @ 12:07AM
Take your own advice, troll. Why argue with a bigot anyhow? It can't be worth your time, great man that you must think you are. Go "organize in the community" where you can spout your crap and have someone actually believe you. Sleep well. Crazy dreams.
Liberal Reader| 9.22.09 @ 12:57AM
Pete --
Seriously. You used the term. So define it. What does "American exceptionalism" mean?
You are willing to claim -- again, with no real evidence -- that Bush believed in "American exceptionalism" while Obama does not.
Then enlighten me. Dazzle me with your acumen. What does this term mean?
Liberal Reader| 9.22.09 @ 2:21AM
Just as I suspected.

Gawd, you're a loser. Preening prima donna.

Liberal D-bag,
Some folks sleep. I figured you might pick up on that when my last post mentioned sleep. Alas, I was wrong. Now that my kids are off to school and I am at my desk, here is your answer. I will try to be brief, because arguing with you is a waste of time and you are a waste of oxygen.
Wikipedia, which sucks, defines the term thusly: American exceptionalism (def. "exceptionalism") refers to the theory that the United States occupies a special niche among the nations of the world[1] in terms of its national credo, historical evolution, political and religious institutions and unique origins.
I rather like this quote as well which follows on to the concept above:
"Being an American, however, is an ideological commitment. It is not a matter of birth. Those who reject American values are un-American."
The evidence you pretend to seek is quite apparent in the actions of the two presidents. I will give one basic example, though there are hundreds to draw upon. Riddle me this: If you believe America is a unique and, dare I say it, better country than all others, would you be more likely or less likey to want to defend it? Would you be more or less likely to take proactive steps to ensure the safety, security and sovereignty of that country?
Let's try multiple choice. If you believed in American exceptionalism, would you be more likely to:
a) badmouth America publicly, apologize for its past actions, cozy up with America's enemies, castrate intelligence efforts, cut major military spending programs, release terrorists and try to subordinate America to a sham "world governance" entity
or
b) Increase military spending, empower the intelligence community, proactively address world threats, tell the UN to get bent, salute the flag, detain terrorists...
I would go on but as I write, I can already tell there is no point - I know precisely what you will say and you are wrong. I'll leave you with this. If an element of exceptionalism has to do with our political institutions, can you look up in a history book and tell me if folks came to America because they desired more government, or less?
Angel| 9.22.09 @ 2:21PM
Pete, why do we bother? It's crazy to try to argue with the criminally insane.
Just throwing good oxygen after bad.
