Just back from a reception in Old Town Alexandria for VA GOP Attorney General candidate Ken Cuccinelli with special guest Steve Forbes. An all-star conservative crowd was in the house (multiple RET and Regnery spottings reported) and Cuccinelli, as expected, did not disappoint. What a wonderful AG this man will make (and knock wood it looks like he might well make it).
But the big news is the manner in which Forbes brought the house down. Funny, witty, and armed to the teeth with solutions. Huge hit. So much that I commented to him that this could well be his time.
Think about it before you laugh. There is a lot more room in the GOP for a Steve Forbes today than there ever has been.

The debacle of this president’s administration is both a cause and a symptom of the decline of American values. Unless Congress impeaches him, that decline will go on unchecked. An eminent jurist surveys the damage and assesses the chances for the recovery of our culture.
It won’t take long for conservatives to scratch this presidential wannabe off their 2008 scorecard.
The American Christmas, like the songs that celebrate it, makes room for everybody under the rainbow. Is that why so many people seem to be hostile to it?

think about Steve Forbes as Sec Treasury or head of the Fed. WOW

"Think about it before you laugh." Hardly a recommendation.
That said, I like Forbes.

I like Forbes too. Forbes / Palin has a ring to it, with Stevarino leading on tax, finance, and foreign relations and Palin filling in with domestic red meat. Sixteen years to clean up ten!

Forbes has written more on foreign policy than some of the writers in this magazine; he's been at the masthead of his own highly regarded magazine for over 20 years now, and Reagan appointed him head of Radio Liberty / Radio Free Europe. His conservative roots are deep and evident in everything he writes. Here are some of his positions (scroll down for foreign policy): http://www.ontheissues.org/Steve_Forbes.htm
Many percieve him to be a dork. So is Obama.

I am not a conservative but I desperately want to see Obama and the democrats defeated in 2010 and 2012--so I will back any winner. Here is the problem: The 9/12ers as I understand it were a group of variously labeled people including people like myself--an independent( electorally speaking) and senior citizen. There will be a need for someone who is articulate, who can inspire and who will have a broad enough appeal on the following issues: freemarket economy promoting jobs, responsible economic policies including healthcare reform and a rational foreign policy that supports America's interests including a strong national defense policy at home and abroad. Oh yeah one more thing --anti-curruption--no more czars !! That's it !!

Lets be real... Palin is a fundraiser not a contender. A cabinet post, maybe ambassador, but lets keep her name off the ticket and start bringing on winners.

Good luck trying to keep Palin off the ticket--ain't gonna happen, folks. I haven't been impressed by Republican presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan.
I want to see someone different this time; not the same old Republican cardboard stiffs of the past.
Palin is a winner--RINO Romney is not.

Forbes is just a bitter old man who can't get elected dog catcher. His "contribution" to the conservative cause was his vicious personal attacks against Steve Lonegan in the New Jersey primary. All he did was give us liberal RINO Chris Christie, who is a 400 pound version of Arlen Specter.
