Obama's Self-Mythologizing

Pete Wehner hits the nail on the head in this commmentary. Especially when he writes:

He is also a man of astonishing arrogance. “I am not the first President to take up this cause [health care],” Obama said last night, “but I am determined to be the last.”....

What is most remarkable, and in some ways most unsettling, is that President Obama seems to believe all this. Even as he has, in the span of eight months, lost more support than any president before him, he continues to view himself in almost mythical terms. None of this, of course, was ever warranted.

I agree. This president's self-regard is boundless. It also is profoundly dangerous. When he realizes that he won't get his way, there is no telling how he will respond. He seems to be able to justify, in his own mind, any of his own actions. It's even worse than when Nixon said "if the president does it, that means it's legal." I think Obama thinks that "if I, Obama, do it, that means it's moral and justifiable no matter what." That's scary.

In fairness to the President: How many political types aren't in love with themselves? You need a big ego just to consider going into politics.

He is also a bully and has used racism as his sledge hammer. The conservative representatives and the citizens of America who know, in their heart, that government has gotten way too big have to keep punching him and the lefties in the nose (as done this august).
As all bullies, they'll eventually go back to their ACORN clavern to tell each other how evil we are and how brave they are. It should have been done long ago, we were just too nice.

I find it interesting that a few short months ago a university had to cover religious figures when he came to speak and he recently invoked god and asked religious leaders to pick up his health care crusade. I think that was his humbling moment, and as noted above, we don't know how he reacts when things don't go his way, but it will be interesting to find out.

By the way, it is legal to preach from the pulpit a political position? I thought it wasn't, nor I don't believe would the seperation of church and staters who want universal (government as god) health care be happy to find their statism cloaked in religion.

Last night I saw President Obama solidify his position as the Joe Isuzu of politics. Unfortunately Obama believes his lies. Joe Isuzu never did. Joe knew better and Obama does not.

From his perspective he had to give the speech he gave last night. If he didn't he'd have to keep both eyes on his Left flank. They'd rise against him without compunction if they thought he was the man he pretended to be all along.

Last night I saw a "bitter clinger." If he continues as he has been -and how can he avoid it?- he's going to start to look ugly too. All that's inside of him will begin to show on his face. Both he and his wife have cold eyes.

He probably won't age though, like both Clinton and Bush did, because he's a lot lighter and a lot more shallow than either one of them.

We hope he'll be the last too.

"The conservative representatives and the citizens of America who know, in their heart, that government has gotten way too big have to keep punching him and the lefties in the nose"

Right. We need to get the Republicans back in power - you remember, the party that (during the decade they controlled congress and the 8 years they had the White House) actively maintained an open-border policy with Mexico, further consolidated power in the federal gov’t – especially the the executive branch – at the States’ expense, DRASTICALLY increased spending (more so than the two previous Dem administrations), dramatically increased the size and scope of an already massive, intrusive, overbearing, socialistic behemoth of a federal government, increased social spending dramatically and initiated and sunk billions into monstrous, massive new social programs worthy of LBJ.

That should solve all our big government woes.

Eat Me, S.L. Retard| 9.10.09 @ 11:47PM

What, do you cut and paste those Nazi rants from Loo Crock Shill or something, S.L.? 0bama and your fellow leftraitors have run up bigger debts in these past nine months than Bush & Co. ever managed to in 8 years of spending like drunken Dems. W cut taxes. 0 is raising them through the roof. W's policies killed tens of thousands of terrorists. 0's policies are killing millions of babies. Republicans began a project to build a border fence. Dimrats have not only halted that project, but are actively working through ACORN and other treasonous groups to get those illegals registered to vote. Republicans tried to fix Social Security; 0bama the traitor joined with your slimy leftraitor friends in voting it down. It was already too late to save it then, but now Social Security is due to go broke inside of 2 years. You and all your kind are traitors, and as demonstrated by your pathetic lies here and elsewhere, every last one of you serve the very Father of Lies himself, Satan.

In all 8 years of your treasonous rantings and ravings, Bush showed himself to be acting in good faith in that he did not have every one of you rounded up and executed for allying yourselves with America's enemies at every turn. Do not expect anybody else on the right to be so merciful to you when we return to power: you and all the other Bush-bashing leftards are flagrantly guilty of capital crimes against all humanity, and when we bring you in for them at last, we will return you to your Father in Hell as we did with Al Qaeda.

Dear Mr. S.L. Toddard,

Feel the love, huh? This is some scary sh-eet. This stuff isn't conservative- this is serious, unadulterated, good ole-fashioned hate.

I admire you, sir, for your honesty, your seadfastness, and dammit, your real conservatism. These folks are something else.

I was standing the wall watch for the USA when Nixon made that statement. Today, I watch Obama tilt his head, scan his subjects, read the teleprompter, and barely contain his angst, that the serfs are so d... dumb that we don't immediately fall into line.
bt
We tossed Nixon, and we will survive Obama.

Fortunately for us, along with that boundless self-regard comes a thin skin. BO does not handle criticism well, and it harms his judgment.

Yep. Rolfe is Toddard's catamite.

I notice, incidentally, that my browser's built-in spell-checker doesn't know what a catamite is. If you're having the same problem, check your dictionary.
