Embattled South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford acknowledged Tuesday
that he has been shaken by the failure of a single fellow
Republican to back him in his fight to save his job, but vowed
to fight on for conservative causes and for "what God wanted me
to do with my life."
The governor, trying to survive a scandal involving a widely
publicized extramarital affair, also compared a new ethics
probe over his travel and personal expenses to what he called
the baseless complaints brought against former Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin.
"I think I now know what Sarah may have been feeling," Mr.
Sanford told The Washington Times.
Well, I hesitate trying to speak for God. But I suspect he
didn't want Gov. Sanford to cheat on his wife and pick up an
Argentinian mistress. And he probably wants Mr.
Sanford to concentrate on healing his family. As for
fighting for conservative causes, well, as Charles DeGaulle once
observed, cemeteries are filled with indispensable men. God
will get along just fine if Gov. Sanford becomes Mr. Sanford.
It is about time the Republicans do the right thing and impeach
this rascal. Just imagine the contrast between the Republicans
doing this impeachment thing in SC while the Dems are doing their
unprincipled thing in MA with the Kennedy replacement. A contrast
that will NOT get lost ona whole lot of people.

First Jeff Lord compares her to Kennedy, then Mark Sanford
compares her to ....him. Woman cannot catch a break.

Amazing. Wonder what makes Sanford SO sure that a governorship is
God's plan for him? It's his plan for himself, what makes him
think it's God's.
Narcissist.

Keith:
You're more optimistic than I am - I don't think it would have
any influence. There are two standards for private conduct in the
body politic. If Sanford is to be removed, "appearances" ought
not be high on the list of considerations.
Anne:
You are so on target it isn't even funny. I know about dealing
with a narcissist - in the end, Mrs. Sanford will be better off.

I hope Stanford stays in office and vetoes all spending and big
government bills. This must be killing the neocons. They can't
get Stanford out of office so they can compromise with the Dems.

"Well, I hesitate trying to speak for God." Doug, maybe you
should hestitate to speak for South Carolinians too.
We want Mark Sanford to stay. He's the best governor we've ever
had, and he has never drowned anybody yet either, come to think
of it.

Yeah, Kennedy, so then the state of SC has lost a good,
conservative governor, and the country has gained another
left-winger on the Senate.
Great policy, dude. Is this why the GOP is called the Stupid
Party or was it some other things?
From your last name, I think maybe you are a ringer, anyway.
