Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani spent almost a year atop
national polls of registered Republicans but as 2007 turned into
2008, his presidential campaign imploded. Now he is taking a
serious look at running for governor of New York. Giuliani would
be the favorite against the Democratic incumbent, David Paterson,
but there is a strong possibility that Andrew Cuomo or another
Democrat will get to Paterson first. It will be interesting to
see whether Giuliani's 2008 presidential campaign has much impact
on his standing in New York and whether he has to move to the
left again on some social issues where he crept ever so slightly
rightward on the national scene.
Rudy's obnoxious hawkishness would haunt him, not the social
issues.

If your a liberal Republican John Cornyn from Texas will probably
hold a fundraiser for you against your conservative opponent.

You're nuts, Red-- pro-lifers (including me!) will attack this
fool. We'll tear him up. Rudy supports partial birth abortion--no
way he'll EVER be the Repub nominee!
SoCon, I never suggested that Rudy would ever be the Republican
Presidential nominee. In fact, during the primary when a lot of
conservatives who should have known better were endorsing Romney
in response to anybody but Rudy hysteria, I said there was no way
Rudy was going to win the nomination.
I meant that his hawkishness will cost him more in the general
election in liberal NY than will any minor shifts he made to the
right on social issues in the Presidential campaign.
19.5 million people. The question is not: Should you run? The
question is: What happens if you don't run?
NYS will lose a congressional seat in the 2010 census. Who will
draw the new lines?

Cuomo has brought a respectful, measured operation to the AG's
office. But his name is an albatross. His father won the
governorship by only winning the 5 boroughs and Albany county.
Remember Bobby Abrams? God help us! Get elected and keep him in
the AG job.
Reagan won New York handily. He won New Jersey, too. Senator
Bradley co-sponsored his 1986 tax reform law.
New York is VERY, VERY conservative outside of NYC. Get in your
car, start in Monroe and drive up NYS 208 to Albany. See it
yourself.
Pussyfooting around is not going to get you there. It won't get
you a senate seat, and it won't get you into the White House.
Indecisiveness is for losers. If you run as Reagan, you win.
I like Giuliani but his campaign in this past election was
lackluster at best. If he ran against Andrew Cuomo it would a
rough campaign . Giuliani would be the definite underdog. But, if
he took some insure and became energized around economic issues
and other areas such as healthcare you never know. He might win
on Obama's torn coatails.

Rudy Giuliani would fail to motivate the conservative base and would lose big to Andrew Cuomo.

If you can't run a campaign how can you run New York State?

Pataki put 4 justices on the court.
Does that mean anything to you?

Clinton knew what he wanted and he said it. Over and over. G.H.W. Bush looked at his watch.
Obama had the same fire, and the people saw it. Throw your hat in the ring. Get the support of D'Amato. Then study up: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu.....?year=1981
